An exhibition piece is an exhibition piece. By the time this programme has had Marie-France's theirs, and Dean's eyes all over it; and then, Romain Hagueneuer, who sometimes seems to be forgotten from the equation, but whose haircut alone justifies him being seen as the biggest perfectionist in ice dance, it will be fine.
Hi Camille! I can't seem to find the ones I watched back in 2016, there was one fan video of the ex and then there was a reportage in which they danced bits of it. this might be the best definition of him as a coach As for P/C, I hoped they would have used a Cuban music but I feel they're in a experimentating mood calling over Dean and all. After all, they've been criticised so much for lack of versatility, and doing a stripped down very authentic Cuban SD would have fallen in that category. Basically, we can conjecture all we want, we just gonna have to wait 1 more week.

Transposing on the ice such type of music written for ballroom rumbas would more likely lead to many clichés or stereotypes and this is exactly what Gaby and Guillaume want to avoid imHo.
P/C Exhibition program of the Worlds 2016 is obviously different from their new SD but I decided to mention it as I see some connections between both, nothing more.
In any case and once again, Gabriella and Guillaume have their own vision.
They want to be themselves. To be more precise, I would even say they want to share on the ice who they are in real life and this is a key factor of their success. For example, if one section of the choreography is about sadness, they will never try to simulate some kind of fake sadness. They will work on themselves to dive into real sadness. Being able to do that is extremely hard as there's no ready made recipe. It's all about work on oneself. Some people will never be able to do that. Now, when one succeeds, the power and impact on the audience is tremendous, as we could see, for example, in Helsinki during their FD of the 2017 Worlds.
Not everyone is able to portray the emotions they feel convincingly though. That's why we're able to distinguish good and bad performers.
Humm... It's far from being the "basics of performing" imHo.
Once again, it's all about working on oneself, being true with oneself. It's not a technical challenge, it's a pure human challenge. In ice dance, it also requires a lot of work with your partner and vice versa. Some couples are able to do that up to a certain point, some are able to fully dive into that, some will never reach this ultimate level of chemistry. It's what it is. In Gadbois, Catherine Pinard helps (I won't use the word "teach" on purpose) couples or individual skaters to find in themselves the capability to pass on their feelings and emotions on the audience. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes, it works extremely well, sometimes, it's a complete stalemate.
Furthermore, in ice dance, there are so many other constraints, the physical efforts, the choreography, the technical elements, unexpected issues (if any). It's a tricky challenge as one has to simultaneously control the situation while diving into various kinds of emotions.
You say it's not unique to P/C. Why not. Now, as long as this thread is dedicated to P/C, it's clear to me that they really excel in this. I don't know if you had the chance to attend the Worlds in Helsinki or in Boston or in Shanghai but the reaction of the audience to P/C free dances is just amazing and tells a lot. P/C free dances are masterpieces whose beauty is overwhelming impossible to describe.
They haven't announced their music choices yet, but we'll find out next week during the Masters. Their SD is apparently not typical Latin music. As for the FD, they're using Moonlight Sonata, although it hasn't been confirmed by Gaby and Guillaume themselves (but we now know for sure because Dave Lease's decided to be a prick and leaked it yesterday).

He's trying to have the upper hand again, and wants to show off because he has his "sources". He pissed me off so much. Yeah, I saw him already making judgment of how G&G's rhumba pattern is going to be weaker than V/M's. He's most likely still hurt that Gaby called his a** out on Twitter back in May.

By pattern, does he mean the pattern dance element? or Pattern Dance type step sequence? That's an irritating comment for him, to be fair. But The Skating Lesson does have a very obvious bias towards TESSA AND SCOTT; and against THE FRENCH (as they are called).
