He was saying way back that G and G would have problems on the set pattern and getting the right depth of edge of choctaw even before (I think) the short dance would have been choreographed for them. I also remember when Jonathan Beyer in like the free dance review of worlds said about G and G having a chance of winning at the Olympics, he replied "politically": meaning they didn't actually have a chance based on their skating ability.

I don't think he's seen their skates; and he's just confirming his own expectation which were decided before either teams got around to choreo or rehearsals for either.

Beyond which, i don't think P and C would have sort feedback from him: they didn't come across as warming to him in any way in the interview they did with him.

Jonathan Beyer is lovely though.

Oh, yes, that's right. he posted a link which wasn't even for the whole interview (which was available), but for a chopped out bit of the interview without context on some dodgy site. "journalist" indeed.

All season long last year he kept bringing up how V/M are the team with the "balanced skating skills" and that P/C have a gap in that area. I can't believe that it's been three years and people are still attempting to play the "Gabriella is the weaker skater" card. As it was obvious in Helsinki (longer than that, actually, but their performances in Helsinki were particularly impactful), the "gap" between their SS has drastically shrunk. He's full of nonsense anyway, one has to learn not to take him seriously.

I still remember the interview he did with them, haha! They made it rough for him, they probably sensed that he's not the right person to open up to.

I quite like Jonathan, too. I appreciate his insight regarding the music choices, when Dave occasionally lets him speak :laugh:

Yes but if a person is stating for a fact that one team's short dance is better than another's, without actually having seen it, that's really off. It's not just the question of giving an opinion that is nonsense: it's a question of giving an opinion that misleading about its factual base; and that would be so journalistically unethical.

I would actually like to know if he has seen P and C's short dance.....

Very true, especially when they had this great interview with Ted Flett before World last year and you could see how different it all went. They were relaxed and open to Ted's question. So I think the coldness was personal. I've watched a bunch of interviews both in French and English and the only time they were close to mute and unresponsive was with Dave.

Do we know if he was invited again at the rink this year to speak as if he's seen their programs ? I doubt he was.

I'd be very surprised if Gaby and Guillaume let him witness their training, knowing how much he loves gossip just for the sake of gossip. Seems to me that he's decided on a whim that P/C will suck at the pattern.
 
I get the feeling they might have something outstanding and not safe for the SD!

He visited them back in 2016, and commented to Marie France in her interview about how much he loved Olivia and Adria as a new couple; there was some discussion about how they were both British trained from what I remember.

It is most likely from back then.

Yeah, I think you're right. I'd be honestly surprised if M-F allowed him to the rink again, especially this season.

I love the fast movement too! I'm not sure they will use Moonlight Sonata entirely: there may be a mash up with other stuff. I'd quite like a mash up with other stuff. After all, the music editing from last year and the year before were excellent: the pieces of music were cut up and used to create an entirely new piece of music (as stated by Guillaume). I didn't even realise with To build a Home there were two different pieces of music; and I have an ear for that sort of thing. Plus Rain in Your Black Eyes I think is in 5/8 time, which is a very weird time signature. I honestly don't know how their editing for the last two years has been so much excellent. Is it them; is it Romain? Who knows!

Edit: I checked: I think it's 5/4. Which is not an easy rhythm: it's the rhythm of an old-fashioned ringing phone.

I'm still hoping that they combine Moonlight Sonata with the Middle of the World piece from Moonlight. It would fit so well!
 
I have to say I was expecting smth more and new from them. However, since everybody is doing same old same old, Moonlight has a uninterrupted flow that with the right choreo, clean good skating and speed can create magic. We'll see.
