Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

Of course that the Olympics is the most important but I have difficulty to think that the result of these championships (and especially the gap) will not matter ...

Concerning the short dance, according to Haguenauer (in the article published by l'Equipe), Gabriella and Guillaume must be less than a point ("pour rester dans la course au titre mondial Gabriella et Guillaume doivent avoir moins d'écart avant le libre" I think it's really possible; after all last year they had largely broken their short dance record in Boston:laugh:

Honestly, don't pay attention to P/C scores at Europeans. Given the circumstances, they are just completely meaningless, same for Karolina or Aljona Savchenko & Bruno Massot (and some others as well).

Completely right ! :angry1:

My pessimism comes from V/M and their constant 1st place since they came back...

I have the same feeling. Let's hope we are wrong ! ;)

According to the article published by l'Equipe right after the Europeans, Romain Haguenauer is thinking to drastically redesign their SD given "the short dance will be the cornerstone of the 2017 Worlds".

Isn't that a little late ? If they redesign the SD drastically now, they will have no competition to test the new one and improve it before the Worlds. A little risky, no ?

It is risky, but the current SD will most likely keep them behind V/M and by some points at Worlds even if clean (V/M's SD is VERY appreciated while P/C's is widely criticized). And I think it's safe to assume that P/C are not going to Worlds to fight for the second place. This means they have a single solution: drastically change (and improve) the SD is they want a shot to win.

I don't think he means starting from scratch, more like the type of changes they managed to squeeze between Euros and World last year. I need to rewatch but I believe they had changed the step sequence, improve the lift and made a more dramatic ending by changing the music and the ending pose. It was enough to make a huge impact. I think their MB, their transition+lift and even their non touching step sequence are great (provided they don't mess up) But they need to rethink the circular step sequence after the MB and before the transition. They even should pick another music for it. The Blues is too long and make for an unbalanced SD with such a short Lindy Hop. This middle section is too quiet and need to pop more serving as a stepping stone to the lindy hop. Basically, I would do three parts. But I'm no choreographer. I've just watched too many times their programs and pathetically apparently know them by heart to the last changes

OK,

Original french version published by l'Equipe:
Romain Haguenauer imagine déjà remanier nettement leur programme court (...) "La clé des Mondiaux, ce sera le programme court", avance t-il

I don't think they need to change everything and there's no need to do that either but modifying deeply some specific parts of the SD probably makes sense.

Some people have fun at gadbois today 😁

Hope you've all had a good day and didn't eat too much chocolate
😘

Indeed another fun video with Samuel Chouinard. Just my impression Samuel has become a key contributor to fine tune their SD and FD choreographies and I am really happy about that as he's such a fantastic dance artistic director. In another video posted a few days ago and still with Samuel, I could see relevant and brilliant choreography additions (e.g. FD starting sequence). Since the Europeans, they feel so much happier, optimistic and confident. It's the moment of the season they really excel.

For sure ! I am very glad he is working with them, he really could improve the choreography for the best as we can see it in the previous IG video.

Yeah, they are amazing, with such pressure I couldn't do anything but make mistakes and cry. Their behavior through this period of the season always makes me think about a quote by Pline “La prospérité montre les heureux, l’adversité montre les grands.” (literally in english: Prosperity shows the happy, adversity shows the greats) and they definitely are the Greats

Last season they brilliantly demonstrated their ability to face adversity...

As always great photos, thanks.
Gaby is always so full of life, she looks so much fun whereas Guillaume is always staying back a bit. Such a great complementarity between those two. I just hope they don't get discourage by the ups and downs in their scores this season. Hopefully, they'll give their best performances yet at Worlds. Whatever happens, nobody can take away their huge achievements for such a young couple. When I think about it, at only 21 and 22 years old, it's crazy what they achieved. And more importantly whatever some people might say, it's fully deserved. Those victories were certainly not handed to them on a platter.
