Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

Here's a few photos I took of Gabriella and Guillaume at Finlandia Trophy.

They were awesome, beautiful and enchanting - as usual. They won by a large margin... despite a mistake in the FD (fall) that was so uncharacteristic, it was quite a shock!

I'm wishing them luck for Cup of China this coming weekend! (Not that they need luck...!)

Thank you for the pictures ! I hope you had a lot of fun ! :D
These are some incredible images  I love this one : http://photos.phantomkabocha.com/Fi...2017/Papadakis-Cizeron/imgpages/image020.html
The opposition between the SD and FD is quite remarkable when you see those photos. What a great job !
Gaby's SD dress is gorgeous when you see it that close !

I don't think she said P/C programs are easy to skate. She said "под музыку и очень легко". I think she meant P/C skating is light (not meaning easy), which indeed it is and which is their big asset.

I don't agree P/C have no chemistry. They do have, though I suppose she meant sexual chemistry. And I here agree with icetigger "that's not what they are about".

But they also have loads of sexual chemistry so she's wrong on all counts.

That said, I don't want a Virtue and Moir versus Davies and White situation. i don't think that what that did for skating was good in the slightest; in terms of artistry and feel of programmes. I want P/C to get the levels and go for them but I don't want the abstract from the competition side of what they do to be lost as they get engaged in a series of one upmanship manoeuvres, where connection between them is sacrificed for show-off moves, andreally eggy facial expression to convince the judges they are getting drama at every second; and the sacrifice of soulfulness to prove they are the best. They need to get the levels within overall packages that are business as usual. When the competition gets really tight, it will those who are functioning in an uber competitive, really over egging of the programmes manner who end up making mistakes......... or losing levels because of it.

That will never happen, as P/C are true artists. They compete because of their love of art, not because of their love of competition. Of course they want to win, but they know they can because of their WR at Worlds last year, so the focus is on the art. Once they lay their own WR scores this weekend, we'll see how the story changes. And if they don't get WR scores this weekend, we know we'll get them when they compete at home.

Talking about sexual chemistry between the partners, I don't think Stepanova/Bukin have much either. The only team that has that in galore would be Hubble/Donohue.

The MS music does have fewer potential for emotive interpretation, compared to their last two FDs, even though the music used was quite difficult. It could be a disadvantage coming Olympics, but who knows. I hope CoC have good camera angles and we get a better look at both of their programs.

I am curious why certain spectators are so concerned about sexual chemistry and sexuality of athletes.:scratch2: The relationship between a man and a woman is not limited to sex, ice dancing is not about sex. There are no scores for this kind of tension. Shibutanis are siblings and very good skaters. Gabriella and Guillaime have been dancing together since childhood, and it is absolutely normal that they are not a couple. Actually, there are so many athletes without this kind of chemistry and they are interesting to watch.

I mostly agree. There are other feelings and emotions that a dance can show and there are other kinds of chemistry. Just have one remark. Being a couple doesn't mean there has to be a sexual chemistry. There are couples off the ice who don't have it and contrary. In fact, all of us perceive things differently as even this thread suggests.

I think it is mostly an North American fixation: everything is always about sex, sexual chemistry, passion ... That is why , their talent notwithstanding, V/M are so popular.

The same is in Russia.:o::laugh: Well I am happy for those who can express or pantomime passion withot making it vulgar (like Madi and Zach in their FD this year). Maybe V/M have gone too far with this will-they-won't-they approach, but it is up to them to decide. There are a lot of things they can be respected for. It is just stupid to say that other skaters are boring because there is no sexual magnetism between them. And this is exactly what I often see in Russian forums, interviews with coaches and athletes and so on.

And besides, P/C do have sexual chemistry between each other. Have people forgotten about the Mozart FD already? They may not have as much as H/D, but they definitely have as much, if not more than, V/M!

FD practice (they changed a little the final choreographic lift) https://www.weibo.com/tv/v/FtdEwh58P?fid=1034:1aef285d507ec5bc339bda3d5da6f031

Yes, much better. Plus changed the diagonal step. Plus there may be a little more on the exit from the straight line lift (i checked: I was wrong). Plus edges and speed look really good on both step sequences- aiming obvs for level fours. All looks good. (and of course: thanks for posting)

A lot of skaters talk about growing and developing their programmes during the season, but I don't generally see it- they just aim for speedier and more pronounced. But these two definitely do........ and when they add new things, they always looks as polished as everything that has gone before.
