I don't think you can lose a level for missing a double twizzle: I think you have to lose two? There was a discussion on it here recently, but I can't remember what the outcome was......... I did notice the that it wasn't the best twizzle, and also gabby goes to lift her hands at the end of non-touching and Guillaume doesn't, so I presume that was an error on one of their parts. But again, I don't think it would be why they lost a level: they must have missed another feature?
The twizzles were excellent (and I point out how different they are to the free skate ones);the partial step had been rechoreographed (as had the exit from the lift and the end sequence) and had a larger cleaner quality. I'm not a hundred percent on the choreographic changes, but I also understand, a, they don't have the choreographer on site for these, b, they are sometimes because of the suggestions of the judging panel, c, they are sometimes implemented to make sure technical features are achievable, d, they have only had about a week and a half for the all the changes for both the short and the free, e, they are flying much more than most other couples, so it will take them a little longer to get everything worked out.
But the best thing is the score and the level four on the partial step. If they get a level four on a step seq in the free and skate clean otherwise, they will have gotten the same number of level fours as V/M at Skate Canada, and their total score will be about the same as V/M there (and maybe even a new record total score). Plus it will have been achieved in China! Which is not home territory and a much more muted stadium than any other.
Am really hoping for all the best for tomorrow........
