Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

Ben Agosto is an amazing commentator. When he talks during a program, his remarks are to the point. I agree with everything he said in this short dance analysis. There is still room for improvement, but Gabby and Guillaume are on their way to master this short dance. I hope we'll get another deep analysis from Ben for their free dance. Good luck to them for tomorrow! :)

I don't think you can lose a level for missing a double twizzle: I think you have to lose two? There was a discussion on it here recently, but I can't remember what the outcome was......... I did notice the that it wasn't the best twizzle, and also gabby goes to lift her hands at the end of non-touching and Guillaume doesn't, so I presume that was an error on one of their parts. But again, I don't think it would be why they lost a level: they must have missed another feature?

The twizzles were excellent (and I point out how different they are to the free skate ones);the partial step had been rechoreographed (as had the exit from the lift and the end sequence) and had a larger cleaner quality. I'm not a hundred percent on the choreographic changes, but I also understand, a, they don't have the choreographer on site for these, b, they are sometimes because of the suggestions of the judging panel, c, they are sometimes implemented to make sure technical features are achievable, d, they have only had about a week and a half for the all the changes for both the short and the free, e, they are flying much more than most other couples, so it will take them a little longer to get everything worked out.

But the best thing is the score and the level four on the partial step. If they get a level four on a step seq in the free and skate clean otherwise, they will have gotten the same number of level fours as V/M at Skate Canada, and their total score will be about the same as V/M there (and maybe even a new record total score). Plus it will have been achieved in China! Which is not home territory and a much more muted stadium than any other.

Am really hoping for all the best for tomorrow........

I noticed that as well. It could be an addition but her arms were not that committed.

I'm not sure it wasn't that turn from Gabby (whilst that arm move was made) that a feature that lost that in turn lost them the level on that sequence. If you look, their turns seems a little different.....

I noted also the change to the semi rotational lift thing. The nearest I can think of with regard to their free is the choreographic spinning sequence, but Guillaumes down on one knee for that; and it's two full rotations in one position; whereas this is one in a similar position with Guiilaume standing, and then one with her being lifted by the rotation. It's almost the reverse of this https://youtu.be/ZcPt_vJUMoU?t=1m50s

I wonder if the change might be to do with ice coverage. I liked the previous rotational thing where Gabi stayed on her blade, but after what they changed it too, they really got in to the far corners of the rink before entering the lift (whose entrance had changed also: it had lost Gabi giving Gui a neck stroke). It might be something that pushes up PCS, maybe?

They are the biggest choppers and changers out there, it has to be said. I'm a bit surprised how much they have changed this and their free dance in so little an amount of time; and managed to work the changes in.

I wasn't paying close attention to their feet at that point but I do remember, in the Finlandia SP, Gaby most definitely had a slight stumble at this same spot, (no arms were added). Which level did they get for that sts there?

ETA:
I just watched the CoC vid again. I think the arm thing may just be Gaby trying to keep her balance. Their blades were doing the same turns. Why would this part cause her trouble though?

Gabrielle and Guiilaume you are so beautiful as always and your skating is so lovely but WHY ED SHEERAN WHY?! First he shows up in Game of thrones (again WHY?!) now he is infecting figure skating...

I don't want to have to mute your lovely short dance all season...

(Runs and hides)

 I had the same reaction at first but I really got used to it, it is quite the catchy song. Plus the singer is a very endearing guy. After listening to some of his interviews, he's nice, awkward and dorky, not at all what I expect by a guy hounded by girls. Anyway, I hope you'll be able to get over it and still enjoy their skating.

They did it they broke 200! i think i woke up everyone in my building! the tes were at 57... and then in kiss and cry when i saw 119 and then 200...no words just no words!!

That was great and it was so lovely to see them so happy with the scores at the end there...awwwww!
I loved it when Romain was shown in the highlights basically skating with them and the Russian stream commentator saying it was a 'trio not a duet' haha. Very sweet.

I am speechless. It was fabulous. 9.93 avenrage for music interpretation. Fantastic Gabriella, Guillaume and Beethoven make wonders. They are the best!:luv17:

Seriously, how can I be so happy for people I don't know? It's hard to describe the performance, to find the right words, it was just incredible.

I know I'm just repeating Yuna13 but THEY BROKE THE TWO HUNDRED. They got a record free skate and beat V/M's record total! BRILLIANT! I just wish the cameramen knew how close they should get! (I think the level four is close on the circa step too)

I'm at a loss for words. What these two create out there on the frozen floor is magic. The scenes in the Kiss & Cry were a delight to watch, you could feel their joy! :luv17:

lots of people thought that V/M will be the first to break the 200!
lots of people believed that P/C sd wasn't good enough to reach and pass the 80!
lots of people believed that there wouldn't be a battle between V/M and P/C cause tessa and scott are way superior!
i get it those people are in shock right now!

what a wonderful week-end!
the only bad thing is indeed the camera work on the free.

Not only are they in shock but looking at the PBP thread they already found some kind of crazy complot theory about how the French and the Chinese Feds are so tight so to justify the overscoring of P/C here. Plus I have to say that as much as I loved Build a Home, I'm getting mad at people saying it was their best program. If you watch it now, it is still unbelievable but as skaters, especially Gaby who was not completely 100% that season, they have improved so much and this year's FD has way more difficult and intricate transitions. Anyway, I know, I know, I promised not to pay attention, but the bitterness is real for some.
Anyway, congrats to them and please keep pushing, they still have some room to improve the TES and they need to grow into it more emotionally but they are very very ready so I'm sure it'll grow nicely.

I fully agree with you. Coming with insidious arguments such as a potential plot between the French and Chinese feds shows us up to which point some people are hopelessly trying to find any unlikely stories to denigrate P/C score in China. I don't hesitate to react immediately (as some of you could see) to such fake news

In any case, congrats to Gabriella and Guillaume. They broke their own FD world record once again! And they broke the 200 points threshold!
Moreover, what an outstanding performance ! We can see all the work they did to improve again and again both SD and FD programs. I really love the changes of the last lift at the end of the program.

wow it was so beautiful . I also like a lot the fd and sd of V/M.
The fight for the gold will be very close.
It's two style completly different (i mean between vm and pc).

I wish, they will change the lift in their sd, need a x factor there.
And the last lift in the FD, i would like they make it last longer for more effect.
