Well, I listened to a lot of her music and I have NO clue what they could be skating to. I don't think they're skating to one of her romantic songs, but folksy is so vague... I don't want to wait til November

Oh no, poor Guillaume! I would have never guessed, his insta stories seemed so cheerful!New article: http://www.rfi.fr/depeche/danse-glace-papadakis-cizeron-operation-nouveau-souffle

A week ago in training, Cizeron had a serious fall on the head. More fear than harm - a sore jaw - but this is the main reason why it will take another six weeks, until the Japanese Grand Prix (9-11 November).....

Thank you Draka. I accept all that you say. I have ultimately no problem in accepting that this is reality, and I do understand that what I propose would probably make for very ugly persons. I think (even recent) history shows us as much.I highly disagree with you here. I don't think anybody, no matter how unimaginably talented, should demand another person's undivided attention day and night. Nor do I think the one on the receiving end of said attention would benefit much from that. The ones that should care and nurture the talent that GG have, first and foremost, are GG themselves. And even they would need (and thankfully do) get a pause to get away from it sometimes. You might be exaggerating a bit, but still - having someone on a pedestal for being a prodigy and having to fulfil that role at all costs, that would certainly NOT make for a fun (or even great) life. Especially for the one deemed the prodigy.
And also, Yuzuru's sitiation isn't what you were describing as well. His coaching situation is very similar to the Gadbois one actually: many top athletes, including his main competition, under the same coaching team whose job it is to give exactly the kind of attention that every student needs. And they, as well as the Gadbois team, are the best at this game. If and when a student isn't happy with their coaching situation, it is their resposibility to change it. (e.g. GG bringing in outside choreographers but not leaving entirely, hence at this point they seem to be satisfied/have made it work)
(Sorry for the rather quick reply, I can clarify what I mean more as I like such a discussion but now I really need to run)
:I'm sure I read that MFD is still working with V/M on their thankyou Canada. I always thought that Romain was P/C main coach?

Thanks Harriet! For anyone who wants to catch the RD live later tonight, the livestream is up here: https://www.facebook.com/sportsdeglace Quite a good quality stream so far!
Ugh. Way beyond what I can muster. I need to start working around 7.15 am, and unfortunately I don't live on 4 hours of sleep a night.Well, who knows, it'll only be 2:15am here when they go on...maybe earlier, as one of the junior ice dance pairs has withdrawn. I might make it!
Do be aware, though, that the livestream has a habit of cutting out unexpectedly in the middle of a skate - I think Facebook can only produce videos that are a certain length. If it happens, you just need to go back to the main page and hit refresh until the new stream comes up.![]()
I think my remark sounded harsher than I meant it. I seriously will be forever grateful to MFD for what she and Patrice did with GG. I'm convinced that they created the space in which GG's talent was able to blossom, and I think her choreographies were really great.
I don't mean at all to insinuate that she consciously chose to give less time or energy to GG in the Oddudua year. But I cannot shake off the feeling that that somehow happened, and I find that GG's talent should be treasured and cherished and nurtured and pampered and should be given attention to every single second of the day. They should have someone at their beck and call at all times. There should be someone who's life it is to think about their programs day and night, someone that is simply fully devoted to their talent and progress. Someone who is not spending time on others. This sounds probably insane, but I really do feel that such talent deserves no less. Handing over responsibility to them (as with the dress disaster) sounds mature and all, but I don't give a damn about it. They are prodigies and should be treated as such. Extraordinary talent calls for extraordinary care. They should get someone's undivided attention. Someone should be living for them to have the best program they can possibly have.
I'm not saying that she doesn't want to be that. It's just that she cannot be that. Unless she drops all of her other teams. Which is absurd obviously.
Is Hanyu Yuzuru not in a situation where people are simply there for HIM, for him alone, and for nobody else, to make sure he can perform at his best? I don't know if that's the case, but from the idolization I can hardly imagine it isn't.
I concede that I maybe wrong in wanting this and that I am considering only the show side and the outer perspective. Since it did not happen like that, the universe must have decided that their personality development and maturity - gained from harsh experiences - is more important.
(I have vague memories of already having had this discussion - am I connecting to an alternative universe or did we already go through this and am I simply rehashing old stuff?)
I really did not read it as a criticism.
