Grand Prix Predictions Game 2014-2015 FINAL ROUND: Grand Prix Final

Um.... It could have been worse?

Yes, I know, I could have got 1 or 2! Honestly though I'm just kidding around, I haven't had good luck with my other predictions either, I'm not taking this seriously ;)

Well, it's not over yet. I expect we'll see a bit if movement in pretty much all the disciplines tomorrow. Of course, that may or may not be a good thing for you

So far I have 4 right in Men's. How the heck did that happen? Of course tomorrow that will probably all change but for tonight I'm happy. Not so happy with my 1 correct placement in Ladies and Pairs, and zero correct in Dance. :(

Till now I have 0 (men) + 30 (ladies) + 30 (pairs... I was wrong at the beginning) + 30 (dance) = 90 points = SUPER MEGA DRAMA :drama:LOL

Well I got 0 for men, 90 for ladies, 0 for pairs, and 90 for ice dance. Weirdly i end up predicting 3 ice-dance couples right even though it's the discipline I care the least about

My men's predictions are a disaster too but I don't mind, I like where Yuzuru is placed at the moment... Javi was indeed a surprise... Too bad he was not able to handle the pressure of competing before his home crowd.

I have put in () what I think may happens

MEN
1 Javier FERNANDEZ ESP
2 Tatsuki MACHIDA JPN
3 Yuzuru HANYU JPN (could get some help from the judges )
4 Takahito MURA JPN
5 Maxim KOVTUN RUS
6 Sergei VORONOV RUS

LADIES
1 Elizaveta TUKTAMYSHEVA RUS
2 Elena RADIONOVA RUS
3 Anna POGORILAYA RUS
4 Julia LIPNITSKAIA RUS (overscored as usual)
5 Ashley WAGNER USA (won't do 3-3, URs, may pass in front of Lipnitskaia)
6 Rika Hongo JPN

PAIRS
1 Meagan DUHAMEL / Eric RADFORD CAN (if they make good technical performances)
2 Ksenia STOLBOVA / Fedor KLIMOV RUS
3 Wenjing SUI / Cong HAN CHN (if they make clear programs, SBS jumps)
4 Yuko KAVAGUTI / Alexander SMIRNOV
5 Cheng PENG / Hao ZHANG CHN
6 Xiaoyu YU / Yang JIN CHN

ICE DANCE
1 Kaitlyn WEAVER / Andrew POJE CAN
2 Gabriella PAPADAKIS / Guillaume CIZERON FRA
3 Madison CHOCK / Evan BATES USA
4 Piper GILLES / Paul POIRIER CAN
5 Elena ILINYKH / Ruslan ZHIGANSHIN RUS
6 Maia SHIBUTANI / Alex SHIBUTANI USA (they can finish higher if another couple bomb or if they are overscored)

If I understand the scoring, I would have like 270 points

Didn't read the first post and had no idea the rules were different
Made 150 points, 4/5 coming from ice dance! Two lovely 0s in ladies and pairs

men 60
ladies 90
top two placements right
pairs 0 :disapp: pairs you rarely fail me why now; shouldve put sui/Han third like I wanted
dance 0:frown: this is like the opposite of how I've been doing the rest of the GP suddenly men and ladies my better

I got the 30 bonus points for predicting the ladies podium. I am going to need them as my other
predictions were a disaster. lol

I've got a total of 270 points. Of course the easiest to predict was Dance so here I got most of the points and a bonus for the podium guess. The worst predictions were Man and Ladies were I only scored one good entry in each. I didn't trust Yuzuru comeback, and I had some limited hopes in Julia...didn't expect her melt down. I guessed the first 2 in pairs, but I was not knowledgeable about the Chinese pairs, which I know they are very good...and that cost me some points:laugh:

Men
Fernandez (hope he goes clean)
Voronov
Kovtun
Mura
Hanyu
Machida

Ladies:
Elisaveta Tuktamisheva
Julia Lipniskaia
Radionova
Hongo
Pogorilaya
Wagner

I think there will be 3 Russians ahead. It could be anyone. I'd like Julia to go clean...and win but that would be a miracle as she needs the last year type of technical jumps.
Pogorilaya may get a medal if she is clean too...
I don't think the Americans have a chance, only if 2 Russians bomb their programs and they go clean. PCS may come and save some people but that's unfair...This comment was made before Gold had retired...I think Hongo has more chances than Gold had...

Pairs

D/R
S/K
K/S
I don't know very well the Chinese pairs...

Dance

Weaver/Poje
Choke/Bates
Papadakis/Cizeron
Ilinykh/Ziganshin
Gilles/Poirer
Shibutanis

Men - 30 points
Ladies - 60 points
Pairs - 0 points
Ice Dance - 60 points

:drama: Goodbye pewter medal! :scowl:

(This is my first year playing / first year watching skating after a long hiatus and I was shocked by how good the results of my guesses were throughout the season. I had so much fun playing the game and getting to know the skaters that the end result doesn't matter.)

That's how I see it. A fun game. And I rediscovered Pairs (even though what I mostly discovered at the GPF was they can be as unpredictable--literally!--as the singles!). I was singing Tom Petty's Free Falling all day yesterday but I actually looked at the results and my predictions and wound up with 270 points. Hmm, perhaps a chorus of Things Are Looking Up (Fred Astaire does a lovely rendition of it) is in order.

Oh thank you Mrs P and scorers. Twas THREE tons o' fun.

One on my worst predictions rounds, I'll roll in at 210 total (thought I haven't had my coffee yet, so I'll have to double check. But I think the GPF was such a great event and I'm thrilled for two of my favorite ladies Liza and Ashley for getting their medals, yay :cheer:

If only Machida had stayed in 2nd where I put him I would have swept the men's. At least I have the satisfaction of putting Hanyu in first. Glad the ladies salvaged my score. I got 3 placements correct which was more than the combined of the other 3 disciplines. It was a lot of fun predicting and makes the viewing more interesting since I feel more invested in it. Thank you to Mrs. P. and all the scorers.

A lot of people scored well in Ice Dance. I don't know if it's good or bad for discipline though, too predictable :slink:

So, here we are with the first official results for these GPF predictions! Most of us scored, es expected, 30 or 60, but (and I have to say that I didn't expect it at all) we have ONE PERFECT SCORE:
big  to inside edges who received 240 points!!
Second place, with 150 points (most of them switching Anna and Julia) for StitchMonkey, Wilheimina, Alba :agree:
Third place, with 120 points: CaroLiza_fan, demarinis5, Li'Kitsu, LRK, chamaleon
This concludes our GPF events for Ladies: thank you for playing and (as always) let me know if you find mistakes in the scores! ;)
