...the 1812 overture? It's one of my favorite pieces of music (it makes me happy lol and I loved playing it in Jr High!) but I can't think of a skater/team that's used it

it's such a great piece and with the right cut I think it'd make for an awesome program!

i am pretty sure that a man skated to it once... was it paul wylie? i can't remeber. yes, it has potential for a good program.

Ah, yes. God old Shep Clark. I LOVE his skating! He was so much fun to watch at U.S. Nationals. Does anyone know what he is up to now? I know he works with jewelry...

Tim Goebel did so, also, I think. I believe it was at the GPF before '01 Worlds, but I wouldn't want to swear to it.

Now I'm got this scenario in my head. Kurt Browning does the 1812 Overature, alternately portraying Napoleon, the Czar, and the Russian peasants when their respective themes come up. Every time a cannon goes off, Kurt pops into the air.

At the end when the bells start drowning out everything else, Kurt as Napoleon staggers around with his hand in his shirt front and eventually collapses to the ice in defeat. (All of this against a background of Moscow in flames.) :)

Kurt doing this - priceless! :agree:

I'm giving him a year to work it up and then he can skate it next january for my birthday ;)

I am thinking about skating to this music. I am playing it in band right now, so that would be very appropriate. :)

Marc-Andre Craig's LP this year is at least partly to the 1812 overture- it has a great SL footwork sequence at the end. Love the program, and I hope he does well with it at Nationals this year. It was great at the Challenges event.

According to some quick googling...
Shepard Clark has skated to this music

Tim Goebel skated to this during the 2000-2001 season (you were right attyfan)

US Junior Daniel Raad skated to this during his 2006-2007 season.

Rodionova and Anichenko, a pairs team from Azerbaijan skated to this during the 1998 Olympics.

He still skates, but enjoys the choreography, artistic part of it more, now, I think. A few months ago he told me he was working on putting together an ice show, but I don't know how far he's gotten with it.
