How to kindly break up with a coach

I know that coach switching probably happens all of the time and coaches are usually very professional about this. How do you kindly tell a former coach that you're trying another coach (at the same rink)? Perhaps to sample different coaching styles etc? I don't want to burn bridges and I want to stay friendly.

Be open, grateful and transparent.

Just say something like, I'd like to thank you for everything I have learned with you. I find myself in the need of a new perspective. I hope you won't mind me trying with another coach.

Coaches deal with this all the time. If you are honest and thankful, then, usually, a good coach will appreciate you telling them.

Also, it depends where you are but often coaches are very good friends with one another... so you definitely need to be straightforward and diplomatic if you want to avoid burning bridges ;)

Good luck...

PS I didn't address the elephant in the room which is why you need to switch coaches... sometimes, the grass may appear greener but it isn't always such a good idea to switch coaches if you are still improving and learning and the environment is positive. Learning good technique takes time, and teaching it too ;)

Honestly what I just do is send them a very nice and professoinal email/text stating the reason why you don't want to work with them anymore. Just mention how much you've improved under their direction but how you would like to try out (for example) other disciplines of skating that your current coach isn't that specialized in.

Guess the idea might to say is scheduling isn't working out and you feel comfortable with another coach for practice time and scheduling.
