I feel sorry for Mao

It's silly to suggest Yu-Na can master a 3A this late in the game. She does not even need 3loop to win based on those stupid CoP. She just needs to replace 3loop with a 2A to beat a technically superior Mao with 3A, 2 triple+triple...

The more I think about this, the more outrageous I feel about Yu-Na and Mao's free skate scores. Disgusting.

Everything's disgusting to you, isn't it? Well, I have an opinion like you and IT'S DISGUSTING that Mao's LP looked like a JUMPING CONTEST than skating - NO ARTISTRY AT ALL - and that her PCS was HIGHLY INFLATED in both her SP AND LP. There should be more GAP between Mao and Yuna's LP PCS. It seems like when Mao lands all her jumps, she has no artistry. When she tries to improve artistry, she falls on her 3A and/or 3-3combo. Mao, herself, said after the LP that she will work to improve her presentation skills for the Worlds.

fourclover, I think you are as disgusting as the one you're referring to.
(I'm little hesitant to say 'disgusting', it usually is not in my vocabulary but whatever...everyone says it!!)

Uhhhh...this thread has really gone bad.

Is this all really necessary? All this shouting? Really this rabid fandom does not do your fave any favours.

Mao and Yu-Na are both wonderfully talented skaters, and we are lucky to be able to see them compete against one another. The rivalry will encourage BOTH of them to grow and improve.

Each has her strengths, just as each has areas that could be improved. But overall, they are equally good and on any given day, either one of them could come out on top.

Let's just enjoy their beautiful skating and knock off the insults.

BelleFilleYuna & floskate

Fourclover & company make the GPF threads unpleasant to read. I come here to enjoy myself talking about skating, and all this rabid fandom - on both parts - in not very enjoyable to witness at all.

Same to you. Talk about picking on the wrong pedestrian. :rolleye:

Ignore the troll people and carry on - I've found this thread for the most part very informative :)

Excuuuuse ME?? I wasn't the one who used the word DISGUSTING first - it was your friend, NUTS. Yeah, I too come here to "enjoy talking about skating, and all this rabid fandom" on YOUR part - calling Yu-na's scores INFLATED, her scores disgusting, Mao's LP PCS should've been higher than ... on and on, totally DISCREDITING the winner's accomplishment "IS NOT ENJOYABLE TO WITNESS AT ALL"

*sigh*

I should search for my ignore button. Where did I leave it!!!!!

I should go to bed. its almost 5 AM here local time.
Have a nice day to ya all:)

I agree.. I don't get it, I love Yu-na Kim.. But I just can't hate Mao... I have a feeling we may be in for a long two years..

Not surprisingly, the crazy maniacs are at it again.
I am not an uberfan or hater either way, so I can speak from a neutral stand point.

The protocols speak loud and clear.
Mao needs to fix her jump techniques that are causing -GOEs, which is her own fault and nobody else's, since she didn't learn them correctly in the first place.

She can jump around all she wants, but until she does them PROPERLY ENOUGH (meaning at least 0 GOE), a clean Yuna will garner more or just as many points as she will.

Otherwise Mao will have to keep doing 3A and two 3-3s in all of her long to make sure her base score is that much far ahead so that -GOEs will not affect the final tally too much.

I don't know which is harder to accomplish, but she has two more years until Vancouver and certainly possesses enough talent to overcome this situation.

Yuna.... DO SOMETHING ABOUT THOSE SPIRALS!!
To me they are such a turn off, and I wish she would spin faster.

Exactly, I don't hate Mao either. I think she's beautiful to watch and has deifinitely got something Yuna doesn't. If Mao had won the competition I wouldn't have discredited her accomplishment as some of her FANS here have done to Yu-na. BUT, the judges gave their nod to Yu-na and SORRY I happen to agree with the judges and have little sympathy for someone calling a skater who won fair and square "disgusting."

 Oh well. Suddenly you reminded of Dick.

About her spin, of course if she does it faster, it will be better.
But don't you think it is already fast enough? Especially in her SP I found her spins were very fast.

Among skaters, whose spin is fast enough in your opinion?
IMO Lambiel is the best for sure but among Ladies, hmm... Alissa?

OH NO!!!! Not Dick, please. IMO he's the worst commentator ever! :p

I am a Lambiel maniac, so when it comes to spins, maybe my eyes are too spoiled.:love::laugh::love:

While Yuna's spins are good enough, every time I watch her skate, I feel like her spins (and of course spirals) do not match the quality of her jumps and her artistry.
Maybe my expectations are too high, or maybe she jumps too too too well that her other elements kind of pale in comparison.
I don't know, but that's how I see it.

But I did think her spins in short were better, yes.
Alissa has truly gorgeous spins. She is the opposite of Yuna in this case.
Her jumping woes stand out even more!

I made a comparison of how fast the top male skaters spin (number of revolutions per 5 seconds) and IIRC the fastests spins were Lambiel's scratch, Oda's scratch, Oda's pancake (without CoE) and layback and Lamiel's twisted sit (without CoE).
Never timed Kozuka, but some of his spins seem very fast, too.
Not a scientific comparison, of course (not enough spins compared, and I only picked those that I thought were skater's best), just something I did because I was very bored.

Among ladies - Yukari, Caroline, Alissa. Mao is catching up to them, especially in practices and shows (where she does not have to make so many changes of position). There are some juniors/novices who have very nice spins, too - Nanoha Sato, Yuzuru Hanyu, Ryuju Hino...

my vote goes to caroline (out of the ladies in the gpf this year)... out of all the competitive ladies now, alissa and caroline. (my opinion...)

I totally understand what you mean. I feel the same when I see other ladies' jumps. Yuna's jump spoiled me.

I just got done watching the Japanese commentary video on Mao's FP, and the 3A did not look two footed at all...hmmm. What really worries me is that if Mao tries to correct her flutz, her flip is going to suffer just like Kimmie's. (as it stated on the site that must not be named) What really, really, worries me is Zhang trying to correct her unorthodox kicking entrance. The puberty monster might kill her jumps, and she might end up like Alyssa (beautiful spins, spirals, etc, but terrible jumps--although not bad entrances just BAD landings), but who knows? Zhang is like a fireball, and knowing her, even the puberty monster can't stand in her way. It just amazes me that she got the 3-3 so consistent!!! On her crystal report, she practices 29 hours a week!!

Go Mao!!
Go Caroline!!!

The one thing about Zhang is that she seems a lot more mentally tough than Alissa!!!!
