I miss Katy Taylor and Christine Zukowski | Golden Skate

I miss Katy Taylor and Christine Zukowski

I read somewhere, probably here at GS, that Katy is injured or was injured and missed the preliminary comps... with no word on if she's returning... I just hope she'd won enough money to finally get that pink Hummer!

I don'tt know where Christine is... which is unfortunate because I really dug her skating...

i doubt at this point that Katy will return. She will not be given and GP assignment for next year. I think that katy had her chance. right now the field is way to deep for her to even expect a top 5.. maybe not even a top 10. I love Katy... she was a cute girl and very exuberant but didn't have the technique.

If Katy did return, the timeline would have to look like this.

Now - Sep 2008 ......... Get healthy, resume training.
Sep - Nov 2008 .......... regionals and sectionals, Start from scratch.
Jan 2009 ..................... Nationals
Feb - Apr 2009 ............ whatever competitions she earns the right to attend

Likely? Perhaps not. Possible? Most certainly. The situation would probably be the same for Christine. Though I haven't been following her situation.

It's hard to believe that you liked Christine Zukowski. Yes, she had a pretty consistent Triple-Triple, but she was a prime example of those clunky, ungraceful skaters in the mold of Emily Hughes, Tonya Hardng, and (a bit of Ashley Wagner) that I dislike. Grace IMO is a big part of figure skating and Christine, for sure, didn't have much of it I ddidn't hthink....

I haven't been able to find anything about Christine Zukowski. She turned 18 last year, so if she is on schedule with her education, she should have started college in September. (Katy, who is the same age and a high school senior, is one year behind schedule. I never learned why.)

The last competition I can find for Christine is last year's nationals.

I knew it wasn't her!!!! Evil Caroline twin decided to lock Caroline in the basement and to come to the nationals in her place!!!

I'm sorry. I just saw this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdJQ53HZHS0 and realized Christine actually was a pretty decent skater...I just remember seeing a performance of hers one time where I felt bad for her because she looked so awkward and slow on the ice, but I guess that might have been several yeras before this....I think Christine actually is much more expressive than Kimmie!

I have read on other boards that Zukowski had a career ending back injury. Or, the only way she could hvae continued would have been if she had back surgery and she did not want to have to go through that.
I beleive that information was posted on unseen skaters...............
I also beleive Katy MAY HAVE BEEN injured however, I am not sure..........

I had a feeling at Nationals last year, Taylor was at the "Im sick of doing so bad" point, and then her results there discouraged her more. I think i always thought that she had simply moved on from skating, and an injury was just something she could say, incase she wanted to return.

Shortly before news of her injury came out, one of the posters here claimed that Katy was encouraged by how her new programs were coming along. The poster appeared to have some inside scoop. So I tend to think the injury was real.

Christine Zukowski has a very serious back injury and has decided to give up skating. This came from her mother, with whom we are friends.
