iPod nano

I got mine from Fed/Ex today, so exciting! I just love it. Its so tiny and delicate. I have been reading all these reports on the net that people are wildly unsatisfied with their nanos because they are so small and delicate. Duh be careful with it, dont spend a ton of money on a piece of technology and then not protect it.

Seriously, I love my iPod mini. However, I saw the iPod Nano last night and am ready to buy one. I love that it comes in black. Sounds great and looks fabulous, too. I may also get a shuffle - it would be great to use at the gym.

BTW, PrincessLeppard - I'm curious as to what color your mini is. Mine is silver.

OT a bit--I noticed someplace that was offering free engraving w/ the purchase of an ipod or a mini. Does anyone know if a shuffle can be engraved too? I've wished for a way to ID it as mine, in case it gets left somewhere or someone takes it.......

I just went to Apple's website and they are no longer offering the iPod mini. Looks like this new "iPod nano" is going to replace it...

there is a 2GB and a 4GB version. But seriously, for $50 more you could get a full-featured 20GB regular iPod. that's 5 times more songs. I don't think it's that much of a size difference- it's still pretty small to me. So looks like most of what you pay for is the style and innovation anyway. Very typical of Apple to do this.
And people will pay for it!!

And for $150 more you can get a 60GB iPod.

Not a real fan of this thing. My minidisc player works just fine. :agree:

Not ready for IPod when I can't even get the voice mail messages off my cell phone I did splurge for a DVDR and Monday I just recorded for 1st time not sure if it worked haven't played it back yet. Only got it to record skating
since VHS tape will soon get hard to find.

So iPOD isn't offering the mini anymore? How much is the nano cost? It's the same GB storage as the mini, no?

Yeah, the nano is the replacement for the mini... nanos come in 2g or 4g and will run you 200 or 250 respectively. I'm not sure what the storage capacity of the mini was... but the pricepoint is the same as when they entered the market.

I believe they came in either 4GB or 6GB versions. Now we go down a bit in music capacity but the hipness factor goes way up. Same price, of course. WIll attract the "hip" teenager crowd.

I'm running out of space on my 6GB mini (I've had it since June), there's no way I would subject myself to 2GB.

I find that I dont want to deal with having thousands and thousands of songs on an mp3 player. I prefer to synch it myself and select certain playlists like "@ the gym" or "@ work after 5" rather than uploading my entire music library. So for me, the nano is just the right size.

I have the 20G version. It's a little big for my taste but I'm not ready to jump on the Nano bandwagon just yet. Would do though if it held more songs so I'll just wait !

I'm with you. I've had my iPod mini for a year? and a half? possibly? and it still only has like 350 songs on it. I just put the best of each album on there and then have "moody" playlists similar to Liz's. "Running songs" is my current favorite.

Oh, but most played song? "Bittersweet Symphony" by Edvin Marton.

This does not surprise me one bit. The "gotcha" in purchasing a newly-released product is the fact that they have not gotten out all the bugs yet. The models just released haven't been tested or reviewed, so it's a risk you take to have the latest gadgets. You also pay for it with a hefty price tag. But the upside is that you can enjoy a new lifestyle and show it off to your friends.
