Is SOI worth going to see this year

I've heard a lot of good things... I think the number one complaint was they didn't bring back studz  I think Heather(KwanFan1212) would just go to SOI if that's all it had was last year's studz routine!

I'm not sure what they're selling this year... check out the SOI website, maybe they'll have that info on there already! :)

Yes, it's worth it because Yuka Sato will be the ladies' headliner. Also kristi is skating many of the stops on the east coast, and Oksana is in some.

I have to agree with Mathman. Yuka and Oksana were the skaters I really wanted to see and I wasn't disappointed. I saw the San Jose show this past Sunday. Oksana and Kurt were the special guest stars. I wish all of the guests stars could be in all the cities....

Yuka did an exquisite number to 'Misty' sung by Jane Monheit in the first half and showed off her pair moves in the second half with David P, Todd S, and John Z. Oksana skated to a Jennifer Lopez song in the first half and Swan Lake in the second half (the same numbers she did in the recent World Team Challenge). It really is true about Yuka - you can't hear her blades when she skates and she has such great edging. Oksana really flies across the ice.

I loved the entire show (the first time I've gone since 98) - even the in-between bits and group numbers that some people don't like. I can't think of anything I didn't enjoy.

Clara - have fun at the show!!! Which city are you going to see it in???

I think I did you one better, I'm so confident it will be a winner, I just charged another tour stop on my own credit card!

Nan, this is what I did. I have a couple of people who have everything and what to get them for Christmas and their birthday,................you guessed it --- Stars on Ice tickets. So I charged 3 tickets on my poor little credit card. Now mind you that months charges on my credit card included paying for my Skate Canada trip too.:rolleye: :rolleye: I feel like it's worth it to see Alexei.

Dee,

I have to say that Alexei was wonderful in the show. Admittedly, when I saw his 'Memorial' program on the World Team Challenge, I wasn't impressed (partly because I saw the music as G/P's). However, seeing it live is a whole different story. I remember when I saw COI after his Olympic win and was taken by his speed. Here I was taken by his passion - you could just feel it. His rock-n-roll number in the second half is a lot of fun. And wait till you see him in the group number at the beginning of Act 2. Plus, he does some mirror jumps with Todd Eldredge in the opening and closing numbers!!!

Dee,

I made myself a promise that there would only be two shows this year, but I got one for Christmas, so when a 6th row center ice came up within driving distance, I couldn't pass it up!

Blame it on too much time on my hands at lunch break, easy access to the internet and a "almost" paid off credit card from December. I have no worry about ever regretting my action!

Ditto on Alexei being worth it. What can I say, he takes my breath away. :)

I hope you enjoy your's as much as I plan on enjoying mine. Where are you going?

Nan, I live in Omaha Nebraska and the show is scheduled for January 27th. We have a new convention center called the Qwest Center. So I will get to see the new center and Alexei. Have you seen Alexei's new Memorial program? Talk about take your breath away. I saw him perform it at Skate Canada. Wow!! BTW, is there any one else in the show? :laugh:

I've only seen Alexei's Memorial program on tape and I'm really looking forward to seeing it live. Everything I've read about it has been very positive. Any one else in the show? Let me think............LOL! I'm anxious to see Yuka skate again and B&S's Let Me Fall program, also. I'll be going to SOI shortly after you do in Omaha, so be sure to post and tell us all how it was.

Nan :)

I've read only good reviews about the show this year. My tickets aren't until March so I'm looking forward to hearing what other people think of the earlier stops.

As someone mentioned, the guest stars vary on the stops. There is always one man and one woman guest star, but you should check who will be appearing at your stop. I'll get Kristi and Paul and I'm very excited to see both of them, but even without them, I'd already purchased tickets for this years tour.

I saw the Seattle show, and those two numbers were worth the entire show. Sato was magnificent in both of her solo numbers and in all of the group numbers in which she performed. A very funny number with Pelletier, Yagudin, Eldredge, and maybe Sand? with brooms was just gravy.

Browning and Bauil were also the guests in Seattle. Browning was wonderful in his opening number -- he was the first soloist to perform. Bauil was superb in the final group number, where she wasn't trying to be sexy or dramatic -- that and her flawed jump landings were why I wasn't impressed with either of her solos -- but just flowed through all of the footwork.

Jenny Meno was also terrific in the group numbers and vignettes, and she and Sand were very good in their solo. I liked Berezhnaia/Sikuharlidze's second act piece to the Tetrus music very much. He has wonderful presence and is just as wonderful in serious and funny mode.
