Isabeau Levito

I was delighted to see two strong performances from Isabeau this weekend! Unfortunately, her new costumes apparently weren’t ready yet. I’m sure that was probably a disappointment for her when debuting her new programs. I just wish they had shown the medal ceremony. It makes no sense to exclude it from the stream provided.

All medal ceremonies are on the USFS channel as separate posts.. they are worth watching! Congrats to Isabeau!🌹

Isabeau faces a tough field at Grand Prix de France. I just want her to get a medal . . . I'm rooting for her as hard as I can!

I admit that I was less than thrilled that Isabeau at Nebelhorn skated her FS objectively better than Jia Shin and still did not get a medal. I have to remind myself that SPs matter too, but it is hard to take when Jia's SP did not look better than Isabeau's to my eyes. Again, I have to remind myself that that is just how skating competitions are. I've tried to focus on the positives from Nebelhorn. Like Isabeau skating beautifully and scoring well in both programs. It seems that she is back to her pre-injury self. That enviable ability to land 70+ and 130+ most of the time has won her many medals, and her scores at Nebelhorn would be enough for a medal at many past events. Competitions have uneven levels; that's just how it is. I also loved seeing that Isabeau and her friend Hana Yoshida (who had a far rougher competition) got to go out for ice cream together! Isabeau was also planning to take Amber to her favorite pizza place. I know Isabeau likes Amber a lot, and last season they decided to avoid competing against each other, so it's nice they went to Europe together. I hope Isabeau has some fun things planned for France!

Another fantastic SP and FS for Isabeau. Too bad about the 3/3 landing in the free skate. 😞 You can tell how disappointed Isabeau was in the Kiss & Cry when she realized she probably wasn’t going to make the podium when she was in second and there were two more skaters to go. 4th in 2 of her last 3 competitions with scores of 207 and 212 is a hard pill to swallow when those scores would have been podium finishes, many in 1st place, in last season’s GP competitions. Fairly or unfairly Isabeau has already had to face what appears to IMO be stiffer competition in her first GP event than the other American women will face in their competitions, plus then Isabeau has to compete directly against the other two American women in Bradie and Sarah hoping to make the Olympic team.

I have every faith that Isabeau is doing everything in her power to realize her goal of qualifying for the 2026 Olympics and she needs our support now more than ever! Here’s wishing her good luck at next week’s Skate Canada. 🇨🇦

And here is a larger version of my new avatar this season. Isabeau is so photogenic!

I am a bit heartbroken that despite Isabeau’s lovely performances she didn’t finish on the podium. Such beautiful skating. Also, I’m so tired of the overscoring of Japanese jump GOEs spins, and components. It’s really frustrating to me to see Isabeau score lower than those much plainer programs. If I was the judge she would definitely have been on the podium!

I hope Isabeau continues to skate beautifully and enjoy every moment.

She is competing in events with strong fields even without the Russians. Sadly Isabeau seems to be in a pattern of finishing fourth. I am confident she will make the Olympic team. But I'm not confident she will make the GPF. She'll have to win or probably get the silver at her next GP event.
