Re: ISU Rankings

Callystar - I'm still not sure what all this means. Does it mean Stephane Labiel is not a contender in 2004?

Re: ISU Rankings

This ranking really doesn't mean anything. Maria Butryskaya is on the official list and she is retired. Why can't they take her name out which could move up some lower ranked skaters.
I like the tennis ranking a lot better than this.

Re: ISU Rankings

Thanks as usual, Callystarr. I love this stuff even if Joe thinks it's silly.:p

About tennis -- even the tennis rankings allow the top people to coast along for quite a while based on previous years' results. Martina Hingis, for instance, was the top rated player long after others had caught up and were beating her regularly.

The skating rankings are weighted heavily over the last two years, and give most points for the most prestigious events, Worlds and Olympics.

Of course the difference between tennis and skating rankings is that in tennis they actually count for something. They are used to determine seeding. The skating rankings are just for fun.
