Very nice! Would love to know why you chose this music, these particular clips & what you learned about Jason's skating & about editing.

About Jason: I've always been a supporter of Jason and was well aware of the connection he creates with his audience. To me it stems from genuine and maybe even raw emotion which he puts out for all to see as easily as rain falls from a heavy cloud. What I began to notice when making clips was how amazingly centered his spins are and the sheer power that he creates within them. I watched some of these clips well over 30 times at different speeds and moved them all over the place in the movie. I wanted to incorporate more jumps because so many are amazing but holy crap when this guy spins it's like an epic journey and one that goes on for a long time eating up what I wanted to keep to under a 4 min movie. The reward for me is I grew a sense of familiarity to his programs that I never had before. I think that is why I've started these projects. I plan on doing many more skaters as time becomes available and of course I did a Yulia Remix first : but I chose Jason because I like him and largley because some of his fans over here are very nice posters that I wanted to make this a little gift to them.

The Music: I don't know how I stumbled upon this song except the search began while listening to Mrs P's suggestions. I listened to so many songs and really wanted to use something upbeat and light to reflect Jason. Well....Sam is a bit of a softy and ultimately I went with a more "emotional" piece. I liked the high points and felt comfortable in the lows. For whatever reason it seemed like the best way to mix Jason's presentation and my artistic abilities into one brief moment. I guess when you feel something works you just do everything you can to make it as good as possible.

Sidenote about editing: I've only done like 3 or 4 videos and what I do is watch the whole skate and create short clips and name them. After they are named they appear in a clipboard type area that has it's own monitor I can view. The names I gave his were great and indicative of Jason. Here is a list of examples.

4)This just makes me smile SEQ

Editing is fun and for a musician like myself it's just another way to incorporate music into my life.

Thanks for the video and for such a thorough response! It's really nice to hear what you appreciate about Jason's skating & what you learned about him while working on this project. There is often so much negativity in the various mens threads here & on the other forum - especially the whole "he needs a quad where is his quad he'll never medal without a quad he'll never get the quad" stuff and it usually seems based on little beyond the speaker 's opinion. So it's nice that you actually looked closely at things he does and reached conclusions based on that. Of course people talk this way about many other skaters not just Jason. Kudos to you for trying something new & good luck on your next project!

I made a little fan video of Jason over the course of the last few nights. I really hope some of you enjoy it It was a struggle to find music because he is so sincere and genuine in his performance that it's nearly impossible to just insert a new song and chop up his skates and have it make sense but I hope I caught some of the moments that his most faithful fans enjoy. I promise you this......I have learned a lot about Jason's skating and it was hard leaving certain things out that I thought were very impressive. Very hard to edit out some of his jumps and not add more footwork

Thank you for the video and sharing the process with us! I really appreciate hearing about the little things you appreciate about Jason. You did a great job getting the highlights and setting it to the music.

Just curious what video editing software do you use?

Also, now that I've seen the video the second time, I like how you found the different moments and made them work to the beat of the music. Also I think I'm glad you didn't include a lot of jumps, I think your video highlighted what's interesting and special about Jason -- the in-betweens, the moments.

I have Sony Vegas 13 - Pro Suite. It's pretty state of the art and for the overkill factor I was told I can even make blue ray movies with it.

About the in between stuff. I think if you watch any of my 'remix' series videos or any future ones to come you will see a lot of that stuff. It's what I enjoy the most and really is the signature that each skater stamps on their programs and figure skating in general. Jason clearly excels in this department. Just one of many reasons why I wanted to do this project and why ill do another one at some point.

The fact that Jason has kept that... childhood spirit within him alive, that capacity for such infectious enthusiasm, is such a breath of fresh air, I feel. So many people go around with this attitude of constant boredom (I've almost completely stopped reading commentss on Deadline, for instance, because I'm sick of people who feel they have to announce to the world how bored of everything they are "I'm bored" - "This is boring" - boring, boring, boring! - ugh!... oops, sorry about that people, does a rant count when it is in parenthesis? - Anyway, I'd like to say to them - among other things - "Ennui is so 18th century"), I suppose that is why some people cannot accept that this is truly Jason's real character and not "fake"". But, no matter, meanwhile, Jason will be living life to the fullest, and savouring every moment. i think you can be skeptical, yet still be enthusiastic about your life and what you do.

I feel like Jason has awareness of the world around him, but he doesn't let it get him down. I mean you have to have a certain personality to endure all the questions regarding your quad status and to answer it with a smile.

I agree with you.
I'm not a bright or enthusiastic person in general. I'm a bit pessimistic although a fighter in life, but I do love when I see the genuine brightness, enthusiasm, and even a certain naivete in people.
I hate that in people who comes, or at least look to me, as fake. Jeremy defenitely comes as genuine to me.

Can I say how nice he is in person? We went to Skate America. At the airport on the way home, I got pulled out for random screening. My 12 year old DD says "Look Mom, that's Jason Brown." I say where? and she points at a guy 3 in front of us wearing a gnarly old snowboarder hat and John Lennon wire rim glasses. I say"Really? Go over and say hi and I'll be along as soon as i get thru". They had a lovely chat for about 15 minutes. Of course by the time I got out of security he was gone, so no pic. But it really made the trip for her. He ws very sweet and funny to her.

Over the years, I've learned that one has to make the difference between being skeptical v. being cynical. Many think they're one in the same and it's not. The former is more about questioning and thanking things as truth while someone in the later is coming from a more pessimistic place, a place of distrust.

Discernment does not require one to be cynical either.

When I looked on my phone it took me to the same thing. When I opened the link on my PC it was a short two question interview. It was Jason responding to skating with Plushy in Sochi. It's in Russian and I'm on my phone again so I can't be more helpful than to sum it up from memory.

In short it said he rembered Plushy from being a kid and he was stars truck a bit. Well...plushy skated/walked right up to him and said "hi Jason". Then the had a brief conversation. I think I'd be a bit stars truck too. It sounded like Jason had a cool experience and was a bit taken back that Plushy knee who he was.
