Nothing better than getting to spread the joy of skating outside in the Winter! ❄️⛄️ #SkateFest @usfigureskating

Those are some great photos! It's really interesting to see how much more grown up 2014 Jason is than the little kid in the food video - and in truth, I think he even looks more adult here than he did at nationals last January. But it's equally great to see how much childlike joy he still retains!

Jason looks like he is having some much fun with the little ones. These photos are so genuine. I feel they really capture what Jason is all about.
Thanks for posting.
Happy Holidays to all.

As explained above, I for one did not find anything cute about the allergy theme of the banquet video.

I suppose I should clarify that what I find particularly cute and adorable about this video is the way they interact with each other. Josh's deadpan "You don't know your own name?" slays me every time.

And those who have been remarking on Josh's handsome looks will not be disappointed on that score, even though the lighting is terrible.

Ah yes, the legend of Minsk, where the women would crowd at the hotel entrance and shout at Josh to marry them, their daughters, their granddaughters...completely ignoring Han and Jason (who, of course, did not find this hilarious at all. ;)) They were 17 here, and this was the year they were silver and bronze, with Josh losing the title to Han by half a point.

Josh seems to just accept it and deal with it. I don't blame him for bringing his own food actually, likely is easier to just stick with what you know to be safe.

I guess when it's something you have since you were a baby, you get used to it after a while. My biggest concern as he was growing was that he'd have trouble gaining weight - I remember he bragged about gaining some weight a couple of summers ago. But that doesn't seem to be a problem either.

Great video of Jason from Rohene's FB - he looks really good. Can't wait for Nationals!

... FWIW, not everyone needs to have a highly-defined personal style. I guess my point (and your point, papagena) is that perhaps it's not pronounced. That's different than saying he doesn't have a sense of personal style -- just that it's not precisely define or pronounced. Certainly my personal style has evolved and been clarified over the last few years.

ETA: That's also different than saying he doesn't look good. Generally he looks good. :)

Revisiting our discussion of Jason's off-ice style :):

(1) He seems to have a second pair of new eyeglasses -- which differs from the old one more subtly than does New Pair #1.

(2) Jason looks great in the dark leather jacket that he recently wore to the ballet.

ETA, I see now that it's the same jacket that he wore for Skating magazine's photo shoot.
I wonder whether he was asked to bring some of his own wardrobe to the shoot, or whether he decided to purchase (or was given ;)) the jacket after wearing it at the shoot.

(3) Agree with everything that Mrs. P said.

I suppose I should clarify that what I find particularly cute and adorable about this video is the way they interact with each other. Josh's deadpan "You don't know your own name?" slays me every time. ...

karne, I know that you love both Jason and Josh dearly, and I certainly am not out to criticize either one (or you) over the banquet video.

Part of what I meant is that I did not know whether to laugh or cry over some of Josh's deadpan delivery, such as his joke about whether cheese is a form of dairy.
(I happen to love cheese, so it bums me out that Josh cannot enjoy milk-based cheese.)

Although half of me is glad that Josh is able to make dealing with his allergies look easy, the other half of me is sad that making it look easy does not mean that it really has been or is easy.
An emergency trip to the hospital obviously would not be fun for anyone, and one for an elite athlete during a competition even less so. Even I (whose familiarity with Josh is far less than yours) am aware that an acute allergic reaction required an emergency hospitalization for him during Nats one year. For all I know, perhaps other such emergencies have cropped up for Josh at other events, but even one was one too many.

I feel sure that Jason has been nothing but supportive of Josh throughout their friendship.
For example, it was endearing that Jason checked the inside of the innocuous-looking roll at the banquet to be sure that it did not have any unacceptable filling.
But it was heartbreaking that Josh said that he still could not eat it. (I assume that he would no way of knowing whether the dough contained dairy or something else to which he is allergic.)

So my feelings about the video remain mixed.
My feelings about Jason and Josh are only positive. :)

... Off topic, but does video exist of this scene? Now that sounds cute.

ETA, speaking of cute ... I think this photo of mini-Jason is new to me:

Alas! There is no video of the many marriage proposals. Apparently Jason and Han just stood there laughing and Josh was mildly terrified.

That is an adorable picture of baby Jason! I have seen that costume before but not that picture. Very Yagudin-esque. ;)

Jason spent the last few days on vacation with his parents and sister at Tanque Verde Ranch (Tucson AZ). There are a few photos on his Twitter if you're interested and then there's this mini-video on his Instagram: http://t.co/1RwnhBvbqR

Somehow I didn't envision a top national competitor on a trail ride 3 weeks before the US Champs!

This is such a cute picture of Jason and Jordan. Shows the mutual admiration for each other.

I thought you were talking about the adorable picture Jason's sister Jordan posted on his birthday, but then I realized you meant his training mate Jordan. I agree with you. They are super cute together. I first noticed Jordan because of Jason and over the past year I've become a fan of Jordan (skater and person) as well. :)

Last night Jason, Jordan, Tyler Pierce and Mirai Nagasu performed during intermission at the Avalanche's new year's eve hockey game.

Thanks @AvsIceGirls @jasonbskates @mirai_nagasu @JordanMoeller @Drew_Meekins and all of our special guests for an amazing show tonight!🎉

Jason also was in Mirai's close-up shot (with Tyler as well) from the Avalanche event.

LOL, I too had expected the "Jordan" link to be a photo with Jordan Brown, but always great to see Jordan Moeller. Like you, I became aware of JoMo via Jason.

I just watched Jason's COR LP performance for the FIRST time, that was SO good. probably the most emotional performance from Jason!
I wish Jason good luck at the coming nationals, and that LP will be as phenomenal or perhaps even better than last years riverdance.:)

Agreed, yyyskate, he even converted me and I was not a huge fan of T&I when I first saw it from Broadmoor.

From the sublime, to the ridiculous, the Avalanche Ice Girls skate with Jason and Mirai and others I can't distinguish (my video was very jerky and kept stopping). To "Footloose". Dear god in heaven, when did hockey teams get "ice girls"? Sigh.:frown:

Here's something that I found amusing this week:

The Swedish journalist and former figure skater Filip Stiller has compiled a list of ten classic figure skating programs (plus one "bubbling under") from the past 30 years. The list is in two parts. The selections are really interesting; some predictable, some surprising. Jason's Riverdance at US Nationals 2014 is the "bubbling under" one. When I read the introduction to the 2nd part where he says that he'll also give a bonus program that "may become a classic in future", I just knew it was going to be Jason before I even scrolled down :cheer:

Part 1

Part 2

He writes of Jason (my translation):

"Bubbling under: Jason Brown (USA), silver in the 2014 US Championships, free skate. Over four million people have seen this Riverdance, and - to my knowledge - no other figure skating video has been viewed by so many. The program could well be the most jam-packed one ever performed. Everywhere there are steps and movements, difficulty and other things that make this complicated and extremely cool program so difficult. For Brown it's a walk in the park, and when he has finished, the roof of the arena is about to be blown off. Jason Brown won the free skate in these US Championships but came second overall. Silver was enough to get him a ticket to the Olympic Games in Sochi."

Greensboro is where Jason made his US senior debut and received a standing ovation for his LP. Good vibes for him there. Let's hope he knocks it out of the park again.

:)

He also received a standing ovation for his SP in Greensboro in 2011.

It was his senior debut program at Nationals!.

Without wanting to drag Josh into this thread again, he doesn't have so many happy memories of Greensboro. So I hope they make more happy memories together!

People wonder why figure skating has a reputation in the US? THIS IS WHY. Rubbish like this. "ice girls", as though figure skaters are only good enough as half-time entertainment. BAH!

So I will not be shy to drag ;) Max into this thread, and add that Greensboro will have doubly golden vibes for the Aarons. In 2011 there, Max won the junior men's title one day after Maddie/Max Settlage won novice pairs. :)

Two weeks to go. Best to all the skaters.

Some combination of Jason, Josh, and Max on the podium would be so nice. Felt I could say it since we brought Josh and Max into thebthread.

I hope that Jason skates well. This season he seems to be suffering a bit from the weight of expectations. I can't imagine what it will feel like for him to compete at nationals this year. I hope he can keep in the moment while he skates there, and that he doesn't feel compelled to try to recreate the magic experience that was his Riverdance performance last year.
