My two-cents caveat regarding the Challenger discussion:
Seems possible -- and reasonable -- to me that Jason would not necessarily have carte blanche to simply claim whichever Challenger assignment(s) he wants.
For example, we do not know whether Max had been hoping to defend his title at Skate America.
If he had, perhaps USFS at least would give greater weight to Max's Challenger preferences than to Adam's and Jason's. Would seem only fair, IMO.
And aside from Max, what if Adam and Jason both want a certain Challenger? I'm not saying that Adam automatically should get it -- or that Jason automatically should get it. They both will be prepping for Skate America, and they both will be aiming for the podium there. USFS might have some tough choices to make when deciding on Challenger assignments.
But why can't both Adam and Jason go to the same Challenger, and Max too, to that matter? I know that at GP events the limit is three skaters per country, but I don't know the Challenger limit, if there is one. If USFSA doesn't mind sending Jason and Adam, and Gracie and Ashley, and Chock/Bates and Shibutani in the past to SA, I don't think it'll see a problem with sending two or three American competitors to the same B competition, which matters even less in the grand scheme of things. Also considering the number of prominent US men (also Miner, Hochstein, Chen), USFSA might find it impossible not to send them to the same B competitions, if they want to do more than one.
