This! I believe since his back injury they have done a ton of core strengthening and reworking air positions/technique in order to better stabilize his back.
Bahaha! He just may have this time! But I think they usually reserve the evil hair darkener for international competition...so you may yet see its return

Unfortunately Cecily's body just wouldn't adjust to the altitude! Some people experience mild altitude sickness when they move/visit here but for Cecily it has been extreme and doesn't appear to be resolving

Ahhh - well, it's really paying off - his programs at Glacier Falls looked beautiful overall and his jumps look great (and if I may be somewhat nerdy for a moment, in the SP his air position was simply gorgeous on the entry into the flying camel). I can't wait to see him live at Skate America!
Really sorry to hear about Cecily's problems with altitude, gosh. What I've seen of her work is absolutely amazing, so I do hope the 7K kids are still able to work with her in some way.
ETA, per our erstwhile correspondent Lenny318 in the Glacier Falls thread, Ilia Kulik started to shimmy during Mariah's SP and Frank Carroll gave Jason a standing O for his free skate!

After watching it 6948373733 times, I could finally concentrate on the smaller details in Jason's long. I agree with you Tavi, the air positions in both performances are gorgeous.
I didn't thnk it was possible, but...is it me or have his spins improved, and noticeably? He seems to have even more control and they seem even more fluid than ever before. I don't know how to express myself, I just watched the FS once just looking at the spins very closely, and they seem better than ever. All of them.

I've been out of it for a couple days, but wow it made me happy to see Jason again. Those scores are ridiculous but I really do think his skating skills have improved. His edges seemed deeper, more controlled, just like TMC was saying about his spins.

I'm saving myself for the IceNetwork videos of Jason's free skate. I daren't taint the experience with shaky fancam. Meaning no disrespect to the ones who took the fancam, of course. 
I did get a chance to watch Jason's whiny guy ex. I am not sure I would call it feline assurance...more regal confidence. Calm, knowing, superbly in control, refined and restrained, in the full knowledge that he is among the best. It is not a bad thing: it is how true champions so often carry themselves. It does indeed remind me of the King himself, of many champions. It makes me think of Jason as a young lordling, preparing to take on a higher role...
But perhaps we can call it a feline grace, and we will know he is not the only feline to prowl the ice this season.

The irony is not lost on me that we're applying cat-qualities to a guy who clearly is NOT a cat person.
He might be but just mightn't know it yet. My husband didn't think he was a cat person either - until Sassi got her claws into him...
