Jason Brown

Oy. Since it was apparently unclear, that was simply my neurotic proxy for, "gee I hope Jason does well at NHK."

Agreed that consistency is what's needed most. But instead of people whining and complaining about strict tech callers, I'd like to see them whine and complain about the soft ones. But when their favourites benefit, people don't complain.

I feel like there's a reasonable balance between GIVE THE ALL THE URS and NO URS FOR YOU! Reasonable calling is not perfect calling, IMO. Most sports do allow for a benefit of the doubt if its borderline. I feel like the likes of Shin Amano is just nitpicking to nitpick.

And this doesn't have anything to do with my favorites. For me, if we're getting to the point of having to do slo-mo replay for every jumping pass to CAPTURE EVERY JUMP that is 25.0001 degrees UR, is that really that great for the sport?

Just some food for thought.

Anyway, go Jason!

Really, I'm just hoping for two clean, beautiful skates.

I love the FS but am especially looking forward to seeing where he is with the SP, as it's a beautiful program and there's still so much room for growth.

Happy Thanksgiving!! :hb:

I'm so thankful for this thread and everybody who posts in it. When I wasn't feeling well this summer (much better now!) one of the things that cheered me up the most was coming here and seeing that there were new posts in the thread. You guys really helped me cope with everything, so thank you again!

I've been waiting for weeks to be able to write this post

I am very thankful you are continuing to feel better and celebrating your birthday! :)

ETA some nice photos of Jason and Team USA - not sure if the on-ice photo is from NHK or SA (he did wear that outfit to practice at at SA) but it's a nice one! I especially like Coach Jim Peterson's Thanksgiving message.

What a wonderful, heartfelt message from Jim Peterson. So glad Team USA has a mini Thanksgiving celebration.

Happy Thanksgiving to Team USA and to all who come here and share their love for Jason. It makes life so much more interesting, doesn't it?!

ETA. Happy Birthday TMC! :hb: Couldn't remember if today is the actual day or is it the day of the party.

Thank you! It was on the 7th, so we're having our party sort of inbetween, since my husband's is on December 13 :)

So my wishes are late for this year or REALLY early for next year! :) :hb: Either way, hoping for the best birthday present for you -- a podium finish for Jason! :points:

Let's not forget he had a screwy SP at SkAm, too. He'll be fine. Bet he's gearing up for a huge FS tomorrow.

Yeah, he was 8th last year at SA as well, with 78+, and still made the podium.

I hope you guys are right. I did think about his comeback at SA, and he's only 4 points out of 4th, 6 points out of third. The difference between here and SA is that he's got a lot more riding on doing well here. It's not just people like Jackie Wong and NBC Sports expecting him to place second and make the GPF. It's that Adam has already done well and he's worrying about positioning himself for Nats, a place on the World Team, the Olympics. Those pressures aren't going to disappear overnight - in fact they'll increase because he knows he's got so much ground to make up. Of course I'll be rooting for him and hoping that steely competitor we've seen so many times returns, but I am worried for him.

TMC I do think it was nerves and not reinjury that affected him here. In addition to the downgrade he screwed up his combo and lost levels on his footwork and 2/3 spins. Even on the elements he didn't screw up, his GOE was low. That's got to be nerves.

Possibly, too, he felt slightly intimidated by all the quad fire-power surrounding him at this event... he may have felt he was an unknown quantity going into the short. This is the first time he has faced this group with anything close to a quad. Now he is solidly in the mix, earning his spot, can measure his ability against the other competitors in real time, so can evaluate, assess, what is possible, probable for him in this group... he still got the 2nd highest PCS score, well deserved, and can build from there. He does this so well
Hoping against hope for a wonderful FS from him!! And, if not, I still LOVE watching him skate!

I agree that he can still come back in the free skate and make the podium. He is comfortable with his free skate, will not have as much expectation on him and I believe will deliver some beautiful skating.

Stayed over at Sis' last night, woke up & saw the placements and was:eeking:

drove home feeling bummed, knew you guys would make me feel better::ghug:

But if it's pressure; yesterday sis said BIL was serious about PyeongChang and did I want to go:eek: so Jason, talk about pressure, family vacations are riding on you overcoming your nerves
