The skater sees Four Continents as an interim step. He wants to peak at the 2017 World Figure Skating Championships in Helsinki, Finland, next month.
"What I did in Kansas City is kind of Point A, and what I want to do at worlds is Point C," he said. "It's awesome to have that opportunity at Four Continents to kind of bridge the gap."
In recent days, Brown has resumed training his quads, and plans to show his quad toe loop in Gangneung.
"It's definitely something I want to be doing at Four Continents," he said. "I have the mindset to do it. I want to go to Four Continents with a more difficult program than I had in Kansas City, one step closer to what I want to be putting out at worlds."

I think it's fun he's bonding with the pairs skaters!

Also, it's interesting that the men opted to stay at the other rink -- it looks like the ladies made it to 4CC rink for practice last night?

Also did everyone see Jason's tweet of this photo, with the comment "ApPAIRently I have no Valentine" ETA: Make that "lost my Valentine"

:laugh2:

I'm sure we all send Jason our best V-Day wishes:laugh:

At the time of this interview, he had only been out of the boot for a week? eek.

I think I'm going to just put that Valentine video on loop for the rest of the day.:luv17:

It does not hurt that it is Nat King Cole's version of L-O-V-E, one of my all time faves.

And I know it's been done a million times (Brooklee and Kurt come to mind) but *that* would be a great EX tune for Jason....

Jason's Japanese Fan Page has located his planned program content sheet and posted it on Twitter:

https://twitter.com/JasonBrownFP/status/831707904436637696

SP: 4T-3T, 3A, FSSp, CCSp, 3Lz, StSq, CCoSp
FS: 4T, 3A+2T, CCSp, StSq, 3A, FCCoSp, 3Lz, 3F+3T, 2A, ChSq, 3Lo, 3Lz+1Lo+3S, CCoSp

The FS layout is the same as it has been all season (except for the injury layout at nationals) but this is the first time he's attempting a 4T combo in the SP (that I can recall anyway).

Thanks for finding this!

Im pretty sure the 4T combo was always planned in the SP (no preceding steps) but since he always fell, he had to add the combo on the 3z. I'm almost positive that was the case at SA.

I wonder how he's doing with the 4T? Since he's only been training them for a short time, does that mean we are likely to see falls?

It's a bit frustrating not to have received any practice reports or clips yet, altho his blog and the Ice network article were really nice.

I found a practice clip of the SP on twitter (thanks to the Jason Brown Fan Page account retweeting a link posted by purplelove301):

The weibo link works too, it's just that some people are on geo-blocked servers, and some aren't. I have no idea how that works, I see the weibo link just fine.

He looks very good but I guess he's sticking with the 3-3 there to be sure. Considering how long he's had for the 4T probably for the best but I do hope he gives it a go in the FS.

He says on IN he will attempt the quad, so we'll see it in the FS. This seems to be the mid-point he was mentioning. Unlike the others, he's just coming back from injury, so he can't just throw in jumps. His team's focus is to progress from where he is at so he can't focus too much, though he probably isn't (or trying not to) focused too much on what others are doing.

I will sort of chuckle at the universe if after all this talk about quads if Jason emerges on the podium with a single quad lol.

I'm glad, thank you for the info! I want him to get that feeling in just once before the Worlds because practice cannot replace that competition attempt, and 4CC is relatively safe to throw it out once so it won't be mentally stressful either.

I would laugh without a doubt. It's strange, it's like in the last two months someone threw a switch and suddenly nothing else matters. And I love quads! But there is no denying the necessity, and difficulty, of what Jason does, and integrating that with the jumps (that are only a part of the overall technical), if we want, and we should want, complete skaters. Considering his injury seeing him in the top group at the end will already be great, I am trying to not jinx it by being greedy

Yeah I'm cool with whatever as long as he doesn't reinjure himself and skates well.

I'm definitely not anti-quad and Jason isn't either, which seems to be lost on folks. I know it's a compliment, but I get annoyed when people throw the "he'll be a great show skater" as if his skills are only of use in that arena. It's clear he loves to compete and is intrinsically motivated to grow and improve. He clearly is driven and ambitious, and setbacks have only feed that drive.
