Jason Brown

Me three for feeling just a little fretful for Jason on his jumps, but never for the performance....:hap10:

And I am sorry (notsorry), Jason should have the highest PCS of all the American men after that SP. He just should. :angry1:

I'm still not convinced that the costume is not for Hamilton;)

A heartfelt performance from Jason, who always manages to draw me in, no matter what the jumps are. For me, he is a bit of a magician. He was so strong and solid on his jumps at Sk Amer that by comparison these do seem a little on the timid side. Hopefully he'll have some healing time before Worlds. What a warrior though -- always trying to give a 120%. Hope he comes back super strong in the free!

agree on all - well said. Jason is really exceptional and special skater for me too, a rare cause where I enjoy every performance regardless of glitches. He can drawn you inside his skating, mesmerize by his quality, lines, musicality, interpretation abilities, drawing that full performance picture filled by his positive presence, enthusiasic approach towards skating and competing. Wish there would be more of those authentic performers out there...

Today was a good day, despite that fall on Axel. He was able to not loose the momentum and carry on with the performance and story. And that smile at the end, he's just special :) And good luck on Sunday, I plan to watch it live in Sunday Dead Banana mode from 3 am in Poland, will be cheering hard for our Jason!:cheer:

NNF -- you're are so on my  list today! Your posts are so thoughtful and I've enjoyed them amid all the back-and-forth today. Thank you. :)

And I agree. I think there's a lot to like about skaters besides what jumps they do. Not say that isn't a reason to not like a skater, but when I think of the skaters I admire most, inculding Jason, it's not just the jumps -- but all the stuff you mentioned.

I had a pretty crappy week at work, so when I watched Jason today I couldn't help but wonder "How the heck do you stay so positive..." Cause if it was me, I'd be pretty hard on myself and it would be hard to let go. It's interesting to see how Jason simply accepts the result, whatever it is, then moves on to the next thing. IMO, it's a huge reason he's been able to stick around the sport.

I feel fortunate to have seen him live at 3 Sk Americas, 2 Nationals, and a small ice show. He fills the whole space with his enthusiasm. He really is amazing.

awww, thank You a lot Mrs. P :thank:, what You've written really warmed my heart...

as for Your last paragraph, a bit of off-topic, but still Jason-related. Recently, I'm going through some health problems with myself, I'm afraid, I'm confused, sometimes angry and frustrated over things I have no influence on. But I refuse to let myself down and looking at skaters like Jason really helps me out, no matter how cheesy/creepy or weird that sounds. The positivity and enthusiasm for skating - and for life too, as skating is an integral part of his existence, no doubt about it - drawn from his work is so infectious, so big and impactful that I have to smile.

And in any bad day, I just switch on his 'Riverdance' at 2014 Nationals, better than some of medications :)

:), lucky You, he feels like sunshine, his presence with so much easiness and positivity, his supportive and open attitude towards competition, injuries, people never ceases to amaze me and make me appreciate him more and more. Moreover - for me he fills any space not only with his enthusiasm and hunger for life, but also with his passionate approach and personality

Draw your swords, Jason fans, because the Vincent pushers are going to go crazy on him. WE know he won't let anyone down, but apparently they think he will, as if their rookie kid is going to be so much better.

His program was beautiful yesterday though I will confess surprise that the 3Lz was < and not the 3A. I hope it all comes together tomorrow.

I was very surprised when last time I checked there was no snark about Jason in the SP thread. Not to worry - the 4CC Team thread is full of it. Surprise.

I need to stay away from the General 4CC Update thread, raises my blood pressure and rots my teeth:laugh:

I just try to remember: WWJD... what would Jason do? Unfortunately, I am not nearly so positive in outlook:devil:

ETA: Fortunately or unfortunately the men's SP thread is so jam packed with Yuzu v. Nathan, they haven't had time to snark on Jason.

And me being salty over Brendan's PCS

I'm sure he's saving it all for Worlds, where he'll knock everyone flat with two gorgeous skates and everything will be perfect.

You are right about Brendan's PCS. I still get mad about Julian Yee getting hosed at Worlds last year. And I think Deniss V. gets low balled too, and and and ....

If I have to read one more comment though about how teenagers are "bringing it", like Jason is sitting around eating bonbons and not giving it his all, I will not be responsible for my actions:ddevil:. I just need to remember,WWJD:yay:

Thanks for the warning. I've mainly been checking in for scores without reading any threads, but the Charlie White threads on the two boards have recently caught my attention. A nice diversion. :)

after posting my general thoughts in FS thread, just want to express my adoration about Jason's performance, it was truly an amazing experience he gave the audience. He keeps on giving so much in every performance, living up the music and character portrayed. Such an artistic and skillful soul of him...

And today he once again helped me realise that his competitive force, his fierceness comes not from his jumping arsenal and is not defined nor limited by such. It's about the confidence and honesty/authenticity he has about his best qualities, assets and the way he uses them. It takes a lot of maturity to carry yourself like Jason does, cherishing and learning from all happening to him, from every experience with such openess, positivity and enhusiasm he express.

I wish more skaters and people in general would have that approach like Jason has - taking all coming and keep on giving more, not being afraid to be real, authentic, even about his flaws and imperfections.

I watched Jason's FS twice with different commentaries. Amazingly, in both the comments fell silent a few seconds into the program and resumed after Jason finished... It's as if they knew they were about to experiençe something special and did not want to miss the experience.

Jason's FS last night was moving and beautiful, despite the few errors that crept in at the end! And he got no < calls, and GOE of 1.57 on the second 3A.

This injury seems to have affected him more - and longer - than I thought it would. Just goes yo show what I know. Since all of his jump errors occurred near the end of the program, it looks like he's still building up his stamina - but he's definitely well on the road to recovery and back on track with his jumping, and that makes me really happy.

It will be interesting to see if they add back the quad for Worlds. It's pretty clear that even if he started practicing it last week, he just wasn't ready for it here - and he really didn't need it. I'm sure that if he hopes to include it at Worlds, he would have preferred to test it out here first, but I'm happy they were conservative.

The FS last night was absolutely beautiful . Even if I did get jolted from my trance a couple of time by the junk camerawork.

Jason will be just fine when we get to Worlds. You'll see. I bet he'll even land a quad there.

I actually was wondering if one of the reasons he went quadless in both programs here rather than putting out the quad and falling on it was to see what kind of scores he can expect at Worlds in the worst case scenario that he's not ready to put the quad back in. They do have the info from a couple of years ago but given how important his placement is this year, perhaps they thought it would be a good idea to review it in this brave new world of quads.

My conclusion: He got 245 for 2 flawed programs with (presumably) second group PCS for the FS. At s rough guess, he lost about 6-7 points in the SP and 8-10 points in the FS. So without errors, he can probably still score 260+ even with lowball pcs. Of course I could be totally wrong that that was their thinking!

The other thing that occurred to me is that with his score at this comp (245), he's recovered more than half of the 50 point differential between SA (268) and NHK (218). I think that bodes really well for Worlds and the lucky people (I'm looking at you TMC!) who will see him there.

No need for speculation, aka read Golden Skate recaps: http://www.goldenskate.com/2017/02/2017-4ccs-men/

USA’s Jason Brown missed the triple Axel in the short and stood in ninth place, but pulled up to sixth with a good free skate that included six clean triples. The national bronze medalist, who had been injured, decided to take the quad out.

“Kori (Ade, coach) said that going to this event was like building a house,” explained the 22-year-old. “The pieces from what I did at nationals are building up to what I will do at the World championships. Today the quad wasn’t ready, so we built up a different part of the house. We built up the rest of the program around the decision to take it out and focused on making the most out of the other points I could get. It’s a decision that we made today. Because of my leg injury, I couldn’t start doing them (quad toes) again until this week. My hope was that it would be ready to put in the program, but unfortunately it wasn’t at the point where it was worth doing under the circumstances.”

“This was a huge growing experience from nationals to here,” added the skater who is motivated for the upcoming worlds. “I feel so much stronger. I definitely improved certain aspects of the program.”

Hope it will be possible for Jason to work on his quad toe. I'm going to guess we'll see it at Worlds. I enjoyed both of his programs very much and am happy he had the opportunity to see the new Olympic arena.
