Jason Brown

@katmari thx for the clip - it’s so darn short it makes me want more! And since the knee slide is something Rohene has given Jason a few times, it’s hard to tell what’s “Buttle-ish” about it - hopefully we’ll see more soon. It would be great to see JB do a FS for Jason. ...

FWIW/IIRC, something was on social media from Karen Chen about learning knee sliding from Buttle at SOI rehearsals.
It was within the past week ... maybe an Instagram story?
[I think(?) Karen said (in a light-hearted way) that her knee was sore after practicing the move for a couple of hours.]

Not saying that it would be a sure sign that Jason's choreo is from Buttle. But without more information, I would not rule out Buttle. YMMV.

... Zack also caught him filming something where he was talking about inspirational people and he mentioned his "first coach", Kori Ade. Don't know if there's anything to be read that "first" or not. ..

My two cents:

I did not read anything particular into the "first coach" reference.
Jason's train of thought seemed to be that his sister's involvement in skating was an early inspiration for his own skating. Also that he loved his first coach (Kori).

To me, it could be analogous to someone making reference to meeting "my first" best friend in childhood ... maybe leading up to saying that "my first" best friend still remains my best friend -- many years later in adulthood.

We did not hear whatever Jason said next, but to me, it seems possible that he continued by adding something like, "... and I still am with my first coach after all these years. She still inspires me to this day."

YMMV.

ETA:

.... @mintx, I’m guessing the announcement will probably be about which of these skaters will join the cast of the Scott Cares benefit in Nashville next November. I’d love to be wrong and find out it’s about Jason - but Scott mentioned something about the last two years, so....We’ll see, though!

Agree that Scott Hamilton's "tease" was only about the next benefit show for his charity.

I actually had the same thought as @mintx about skaters going to Scott’s rink, and then I realized, as @Tavi pointed out, that Scott said, “as I have for the past two years” so it must be a show. OT, he does say “more skaters”, so I wonder if the show would include pairs?

And, it would be great to think that Can’t Stop the Feeling is choreo by Jeff Buttle, but since Jason was practicing in Colorado, is that likely? I know Jeff had an encouraging comment for Jason on IG, but I thought that was more for the group number?

But what do I know?

More Hamilton (it’s the second clip, so scroll right), this time with click-boom:

This one is good! Finally more than just a few seconds here and there (like 30 whole seconds together:))

And my Twitter feed told me today that "Hamilton" had won an Olivier award for Best Musical from the British Theatre Whatever-They-Call-Themselves and the actor who plays Burr won best actor. (one of the other nominees was an Irish actor whom I adore, Ciaran Hinds, but I guess Ciaran was no match for Hamilton, or Burr:biggrin:)

I don't think the start of Hamilton with Jason in the cloak has been posted yet:

We now have the very beginning, the very end and a bit in the middle. Soon we're going to have enough to piece the show program together.

Wow, I didn't know he was even doing this beginning. I saw the cloak in the pictures linked above and was about to ask which number the cloak was for. Thanks!

Oh, this is interesting, but musically doesn't make much sense. That bit of music is from "Your Obedient Servant", which is the song in which Hamilton and Burr's relationship breaks irreparably and they agree to the duel. "The Room Where It Happens" is from much earlier, when Burr is just realising that he wants to be in the Room, and Hamilton is at the peak of his political height.

Are the Japanese Fan Clubs retweeting an IG post of Jason at *the Cricket Club*??? (With a Japanese skater I do not know).

Yes, Jason could be getting skates fitted. Yet.....

Be still, my heart! :drama:

ETA: on the iPad. Someday I will learn to link. Today is not that day.;)

Thanks .... and so the question remains.:scratch2:

*Why* are you at TCC? There are closer places to the next SOI stops in New England to practice.....

Wasn't there a rumor that he planned to meet with Lori Nichol? Isn't she in Toronto?

I think TSL may have reported that, but I would be disappointed if it were just Lori. I obviously have irrational, higher hopes:biggrin:

Plus I think Lori may have gone to California when she worked with Gracie and Frank, so why go to TCC?

Hope springing eternal again:)

Well, Nathan went to Toronto to work with Lori last year. :) I really have no preference at this point. I just want him to make a decision and go for it. Meanwhile...

Meanwhile ... Back at the Cricket Club, Jason's still there with another skater who recently joined the Jackson family (Karen Chen) per Lubov Ilyushechkina's instagram (thanks to Sylvia at FSU for posting the photo):

re: Choreography, I have mixed feelings about Lori Nichol programs -- sometimes they are stunning and original and sometimes they feel stale and tired (almost as if she's not inspired by the skater/music).

Well, whatever happens, Jason and his BFF Karen appear to be practicing together for a little bit.

Probably getting their Jackson skates fitted

Karen just posted a small instastory of Jason at the Jackson factory which confirms that at least part of the reason for their stop in Toronto is skates related.

With the rest of their time, I'm sure they are enjoying hanging out together and skating at the Cricket Club. :)

ETA ... Jason confirmed the new boots via twitter:

Didn't Jason do this last season too? Go up to Toronto to get new boots, have a skate at the Cricket Club? Why the assumption it was anything else?
