Jason Brown

1. I think the clip is in the Evgenia thread.
2. Somewhere I have a Lebanese recipe for watermelon and feta salad. I haven’t tried it though.
3. Yuna is lovely, thanks for those clips!
3. David Wilson choreo: hmm. What I like is that he picks good music (even if warhorses) and the jumps almost always come out of nowhere. I hope he makes Jason do his 3A out of an Ina B or spread eagle or something!

I liked the programs he did for Yuna best. I think she inspired him. I also think she made the most of his choreo - she is very musical and expressive, and as Mrs P mentioned, she uses her arms beautifully. And I like that that he gave her that sort of signature spiral sequence in several programs - I hope he’ll do that for Jason, too.

That said, the programs I watched (the clips of Daisuke, Patrick, and Yuna through Lark Ascending) seemed to have an awful lot of similar circular movement, seemed to use quite a few crossovers, and didn’t always pick up nuances in the music, which disappointed me.

I know some people are tired of Rohene’s choreo for Jason, and perhaps some of it was too taxing to enable Jason to get comfortable with all of the jumps. But say what you will, Rohene’s programs are always unique, and always use the music really well - so I’m glad Jason’s got one Rohene program, at least, this season.

Anyway, I hope both Jason and Evgenia will inspire David to do good work for them, and hope we start getting clips soon!

I think Watermelon and a baguette would be kind of tasty if eaten one at a time but I’m not so sure about cheese before the watermelon.

We're making one on the Fourth that also has mango and red onion. :)

The company that Jason was paddle boarding with tonight kind of went overboard posting Jason stuff on it's insta story. There are Riverdance clips as well as pics of him on the board. Keep watching until you find him. :) https://www.instagram.com/stories/eastofsixsup/?hl=en

Feta & Watermelon is a great combination. :) (IMO)

Some other David Wilson programs from last season for your consideration:
* Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir, FD, Moulin Rouge (w/ Marie-France Dubreuil) -- I don't know why I didn't bring this up earlier.
* Mai Mihara, FS to the Mission
* Lubov Ilyushechkina & Dylan Moscovitch, "At This Moment" by Billy Vera & The Beaters; (w/ Sandra Bezic)
* Julianne Seguin & Charlie Bilodeau Where's My Love (SYML); (w/Marie-France Dubreuil)

I do feel like David Wilson has a good understanding of COP and often times that comes at the cost of choreography. And he can miss... But we'll see.

By the way David Wilson choreographed for Yuna recently for her show, All That Skate. It's to a song called House of Woodcock: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvTUrgVPYXI

I still dream of a Tom Dickson program for Jason, honestly. And one of Yuna's best programs for me is by Tom Dickson. She did Tango de Roxanne before it became a warhorse (I think, lol) I'm kinda sad she never went back to him after she started working with Brian.

Before I was a Jason fan, I was a Yuna one. I use to watch like ALL her YouTube videos on and off the ice. Also Brian and Yuna was in a Korean commericial for an air conditioner. So much gold. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnUfcg7LPBo

(Thanks for humoring me, guys)

What is SUP?

And OT, but is anyone else using iPhone having trouble with Twitter and Instagram links? For the last few weeks, I’ve been getting a frequent message that “Twitter is taking to long to load.” If I close the page and try again, it loads. With Instagram, it’s now asking me to log in, even though I’m logged in on my iPhone Instagram app.

Even more OT, I get really tired of social media and even stores which refuse to allow you to even browse unless you create an account or log in via Facebook, Google, etc. it’s like they’re all trying to figure out who you are, how they can track you, and how they can target ads to you.

I see Rosa answered your question!

Yep. Privacy is not a thing anymore on the Internet. Really lame, of course. Social media is a mixed bag in that way. Obviously it's great getting skater updates in a way we never were able to before, but yeah, they get to size you up for advertising.

Jason is her No. 1 fan.

Stand up paddleboading? I salute you, Mrs. P! I tried that 5 years ago in Hawaii (yeah, like I'm not bragging;)) and standing up on that darn thing for three seconds was all I could do. And I may be of a certain age, but I'm in fairly normal shape and back then I even had my trainer. Surfer Dude Instructor gave up on me and concentrated on the rest of the fam, and I floated for an hour. At a beach on Kauai. There are worse fates.

So when I see skaters like Jason doing it, I'm like, yeah, well amazing core. And this is certainly the weather for it.

I enjoyed watching this and will probably watch a few more times. :) Having been away from Russian for a few years, it's good for me to try to understand it all. Fortunately, Zhenya's not terribly difficult to understand. And Jason is doing well with the tips he's picking up, such as the use of "za".

I love how he's in full American flag attire for Canada Day

That is so funny!

It just occurred to me that since Courtney Hicks has a GP, Kori will be at Champs Camp - as will Brian, Tracy, or someone else from TCC.

Do you think it's going to be awkward? I guess it might be from a basic standpoint -- like it will feel weird that your childhood coach isn't there for you -- but I feel like Jason left her on good terms. He pretty much devotes his whole Olympic Day post to her (with all those photos).

Even if they didn't, I'm sure there won't be much drama at Champs Camp.

All the talk of SUP is reminding me of Jason's IN blogging way back when:

His core did look impressive.

(The links still work, at least as of today.)

:agree: My two cents are that I hope/believe that any awkwardness related to Jason's coaching decision will be far outweighed by the strength of Jason and Kori's longstanding personal bond -- and that they will be more than happy to see each other again as friends. :ghug:

I guess it will be a bit weird, for sure. Probably no drama because no one involved seems like the type, and Brian did say he and Kori are friends. Awkward? I think it depends on whether there were any hard feelings - which we really don’t know for sure. I don’t recall that Kori ever responded to or favorited Jason’s Olympic Day tweets, but that could be meaningless - or I could have missed it.

Anyway, the main thing I was thinking was that it’s actually good that their first encounter will occur at Champs Camp rather than at T de France - it will give Jason the opportunity to get used to the change without so much pressure and public scrutiny.

I think Champs Camp will be just a tad awkward in that I think Jason had this move on his mind long before he told Kori, so he may have had more time to adjust (and I am *not* saying he should have told Kori, you don’t give your notice until you’ll ready to quit, not when you’re seriously thinking about quitting), but I can’t imagine either of them being anything but friendly to each other.

This is one instance where I’m kind of doubting Brian himself will go. US champs camp will not be his priority, and he will have a gazillion other skaters to train. Whereas with Zhenya at the same GPs as Jason, I think he’ll be in the KnC.

Ok, where’s the LP music? @Rosa74, did Zhenya drop any hints in Russian?
