Jason Brown

Oh my Jason slayed today! Beautifully skated and executed short program, loved it!

is there a B.ESP coverage or any videos with english commentary of jason's sp?

I’d love to see that, too!

I’m just speechless. So incredibly happy. Even as a fan I never expected this. Still kinda can’t believe it’s true! :D

he just showing younger skaters what is figure skating all about. that you don't need too many quads to win its quality over quantity

I agree. To me Jason seemed more relieved as opposed to happy when his score came up.

You know, he’s said several times in recent interviews that learning the new jump technique has really been a struggle and that he has still has to think about everything he’s doing in order not to fall back into the old way of doing things. What we saw both at ACI and SCI was the fight between the old and new ways - you could see him hesitating before jumps, not trusting himself, resulting in the pops and falls and stumbles we saw in those comps. I think today he was just focusing very, very hard on doing it the new way, and that’s why you saw the intense concentration and relief rather than his usual light happiness.

I am so happy for him, because after last season his confidence seemed really shattered. This SP shows what he’s capable of if he just keeps going. It’s a big ask for him to sustain that same level of concentration through 7 jumping passes in the FS - especially with the 4S planned first - but even if he can’t quite get there tomorrow, he’ll be able to do so someday soon.

It was awesome that Brian was so impressed with the score, and so happy for him.

Now, sadly, I have to go back to work.

What magical day is this?:luv17::luv17::luv17:

I have to go watch this five more times before I say one word more......

I cried. Honest, genuine tears when he landed the last jumping pass cleanly. I knew he could (and would) smash it but I honestly did NOT expect that score! Brian's comments were so lovely and ugh I'm just genuinely ecstatic, a beautiful perfectly executed skate being rewarded with the scores it deserves!!!
Praying praying PRAYING jason can keep this up in the fs!

 Some things never change.

I'm so, so happy for Jason! :hap93:

Thank you Jason for reminding me once again why I fell in love with figure skating. He's starting to trust the process / have confidence in the new jump technique and is melding it into his already superlative artistry. What a treat for everyone who was lucky enough to experience it live.

And AHHHHHH about Jason's SP at IdF!! I'm so happy for him! :luv17: He had such an intense look on his face at the end, he must have been concentrating really hard to do the new techniques instead of automatically going back to the old ones. (Not gonna lie, I involuntarily let out a little shriek and an expletive when his scores came up )

Just watched Jason on B.ESP. Such a fabulous skate (ok it's the third time I've watched it this evening)
Uncles had plenty to say, and literally said seeing him on the top and rewarded with a good score was good for the sport. I agree Uncles :3
Now I just hope he feels confident for tomorrow  go get it Jason!!!!

Agree completely! What I saw was a totally focused Jason all through the practice, warmup and the actual skate. And the results speak for themselves. From the moment I saw Riverdance at Nationals in 2014 to this skate, Jason is, to me, everything that skating should be and could be. And Brian sees that now too. There are no words to describe how I felt when he landed that combo and I knew that he was going to finish with all Level 4s and great jumps. In a year, He's only going to get better over time. He's amazing!

Oh blessed joy! Could this possibly be the beginning of figure skating getting back to more than just jumps? Could it possibly be that a male figure skater is going to be rewarded for outstanding skating skills that include musicallity, smoothness, and just plain pure skating????. Not just jumps? (oh, did I already say that?) One can only hope.

So proud of Jason today.

Congrats to Jason for his excellent skate today - the new GOE scale is perfect for such a quality skater like him, showing that he can be rewarded for what he does best.

His 3A was so good today, so I hope to see him continue to stabilize the jump with technique that Tracy and Brian are teaching him.
