The SP starts at 9:05am for me, so sneakily-watch-at work-on-mute will have to do for me!! As per I am v nervous for him and likely won't be able to watch him skate despite having the livestream open! Fingers crossed for a clean short again!
 
And Jason skates........last in the FS again!

So glad he did well - really great job given the quick turnaround from Nats, the 14 hour time change, and the lonnnnnggg wait for Yuzu’s scores!
 
Jason had a very good skate. I woke up early and watched live. He has room to improve for World's. Very good for all the reasons stated by Tavi. On to the Free. I plan to stay up to watch it live. It will be a long wait given the number of skaters and the inevitable rain of Poohs.
 
To be honest, when I saw the score I was a little concerned- his GOEs are a bit on the low side. But the truth is, he didn’t skate as perfectly as he did at Nats (in fact, he looked kinda tired to me) so I think the score is fair.
 
I agree @tavi I just caught up and thought he looked slower/more tired than he did at Nats. It didn’t “pop” as much.

However it was still glorious and it was CLEAN!! I’m so glad he handled the pressure, especially with everyone going so clean. I hope he can keep his head for the free skate!!
 
I can breathe. I’m holding my breath a lot these days.;)

Jason may not have had quite the precision that he had at Nats, but seeing this program performed clean again, and seeing how happy he was, and third, *not* because others made mistakes, but because he was Jason :agree:

I agree with Jackie Wong, though, in what universe does Jason get 8s in PCS for that program? Wuzrobbed :devil:

Frankly, I was not expecting any of the U.S. skaters to skate as well as they did at Nationals, and I think we've seen signs of this in the other disciplines. The turn-around time is just too short. Without getting into the protocols, I'm pretty happy with the overall score he received.

I don't think so both Brian Orser and Tracy are from the big hair days of the 1980s. Brian had at least as much hair in back and a whole lot more up top in the front.

I agree. He peaked for Nationals and he'll need to peak again for World's. Skating clean is what he needs to do here. And he did. I'm glad they reviewed the level on the step sequence. It wasn't as perfect as at Nats, but it wasn't level 3. He's in a good place right now. Skating last..... again.....

Totally agree! There were 4 judges who gave him 8s. One was Japanese. The other 3 were Aussie, Brit and Mexican. ???? What were they watching? Yes he wasn't as sharp as at Nats, but he was still very good!
 
I’m not surprised he was a little tired with the fast turn around and the time change- but it was still glorious and I would like to know where the judges who gave 8’s got whatever they were smoking. It must be some pretty potent stuff.

For Jason- the important thing is to skate like he does in practice. Confidence comes with consistency. We know he can do it- I hope he believes he can.
 
^ Yeah I care less about the score and that he went out and did two clean SPs back-to-back. I think that's the most important thing. It really seems he's settling in with the new technique and his interactions with Tracy and Brian during competitions and I think that is showing in his skates as of late.

I think the judges, on the whole, were pretty conservative with PCS with everyone, so I don't think it's just a Jason thing.

Anyway I'm happy he had a great skate and won a small bronze medal, crossed fingers the momentum continues for the free skate.

Australian judges are often very by-the-book and conservative with PCS anyway. I bet if you looked through all the Aussie judge's scores, you'd find them lower for everyone - including for Brendan, James and Jordan.

No surprises that one of the judges was Japanese though.

He was absolutely marvellous last night. Not quite as good as Nationals for mine, but that's to be expected. If he pulls out an excellent FS tomorrow - and stands up on the quad attempt - well, I think I'll be walking on air til Worlds.

I apologise for the British judge, I will hunt them down and whack them over the head until they realise some common sense.
