Jason Brown

Well, he did say that he will immediately land include the quad in his program if it becomes stable in practice, so the ambiguity is resolved. Anyway, he's making no promises.

Stitch's question remains unresolved. Plus what exactly Jason means by "immediately" is unclear.

Rosewater's tweet suggests that the best-case scenario is that even if the quad is stable in practice at Nats, Jason would compete it no earlier than Worlds. So that would be one interpretation of "immediately."

Stitch's question was whether or not the quotes from Jason in the Russian article said that he might compete the quad at Nats -- assuming that it is stable by then. That would be another valid interpretation of "immediately."

Ah, well, to me there is no ambiguity in 'immediately'... Actually where I see ambiguity is in the word 'programs': whether he means programs in general, for Nats as well, or just the programs for Worlds. If it means programs in general, then the Russian does seem to suggest that if the quad is stable in practice then he would include it in Nats. But either way, if his quad is stable by Nats he will definitely include it in Worlds (regardless of whether or not he performs it at Nats).

Anyway, the Russian is already a translation in itself since Jason would have spoken in English, so it would be better to rely on the tweet imo.

But the tweet itself confuses me. Why does she say that he will practice his quad at Nats? Why practice it there, unless you hope to show it in competition? It is unsurprising that he would be working on the quad in his own training, but during Nats practice, skaters usually concentrate on what they hope to put in their programs in that competition.

LOL, your first paragraph is puzzling over the same ultimate (and still unresolved) issue that Stitch and I were discussing.

And yes, obviously I too wish that we knew what Jason's original words in English were to the Russian reporter, instead of parsing what это means.

Taking the tweet as a stand-alone comment (and forgetting what "immediately" might or might not mean), I agree with others that it is not counterintuitive and in fact is very sensible as a strategic approach.

Much as I love Jason, I do have some issues with the prospect of him trying it for the first time at Worlds.

As someone somewhere else said, if you're going to do it, do it when YOUR butt is on the line, not the TEAM'S butt.

If they aren't going to include it at Nationals, then do it at 4CCs, where there is no risk of Team USA losing spots. But not at Worlds. If not done at 4CCs - then fine, it waits for next season.

This is probably lame...posting a video I already made and posted a while back but seriously.

From 3:20-3:38 is just :jaw:

His video came together so easy for me and now I want to do more. I have watched this video a over and over in the last few days :)

Good luck at Nationals and I'm hoping my next tribute can have a beautiful quad. If not...eh..whatever...I'm sure I'lll still be able to find a moment or two of what skating should be about.

I need to acquire some form of video editing software, and then I might have a crack at it, one day. It's been a while, so I'll be rusty.

So I just realized (ok Ashley Wagner's tweet tipped me off) today is the 1 year anniversary of Riverdance! Or rather the 1 year anniversary of the men's free skate. I think it sorta may have gone more viral on Monday??? Anyway, crazy to think it has been a year already.

Good catch; Jason finally tweeted about his year anniversary.

ETA: having seen the hysterical Hawayek/Baker champs camp karaoke vid, I hope one of Jason is released soon.

To gain points @jasonbskates now has 2 triple-triples in 2nd half of free, is working on speed & "boosting GOEs -- I want L4, with +2 & +3."

On his call, @jasonbskates says that although work on quad is going well, he does not plan on trying it at the U.S. Championships next week.

So no quad (yet), but happy to hear he's sticking to putting the 3Z-1L-3S in the second half.

So I'm guess his layout will be similar to what he ended up doing in COR:
2A
3A-2T
3Z
--
3L
3A
3F-3T
3Z-1L-3S
2A

I actually loved that layout and was hoping he would keep the 3Lz sequence there, so yay! I also thought his 3A-2T at COR was gorgeous so hope he holds on to that.

This year he skated wonderfully well twice in times of crisis (nats-car accident; COR-mgrs death). I wonder how he will use what he learned in those two situations for this competition.

Being a fan of him, I wish Jason very good luck at the US Nationals!! Wanna see him win this time.

NBC has taped footage of Jason wearing his teaching hat. :) Look forward to seeing a clip as part of Nats coverage, along with NBC's interview with Jason.

Thx for reminding me of the big-picture team perspective, which is important :agree:, of course.
My previous comment was selfish :hopelessness: in focusing only on the microcosm of Jason.

... Last night Jason, Jordan, Tyler Pierce and Mirai Nagasu performed during intermission at the Avalanche's new year's eve hockey game. ...

Yet another photo from the Avalanche game and a mini-blog from Drew Meekins were published on Jan 13 on IN:

BTW, I hadn't realized that Todd Gilles was among the other figure skaters taking part.

ETA, is my imagination overactive, or is it possible that Team KoRo happened to be shown on the Jumbotron celebrating the Avalanche win?

ETA, forgot to include the reminder that the audio is available without a paid IN subscription. :)
