Based on the comments made on the NBC broadcast, only reinforces my main criticism of Tara and Johnny.
Again, why do they bother with comments that have NO bearing on the result or the skater's score? What does saying that Adam's skating is beautiful and that "25 is too late" have anything to do with how he skated or placed? Or that "Jason's choreography is elegant and very Jason (whatever the heck that means)" has to do with his result?
As many others note, they do provide interesting information that IS relevant (like URs and such), but everything else is just one's opinion and doesn't really explain the sport to the viewers?
T&J seem more excited about enhancing their public image/lifestyle than really educating viewers on the sport.
As for math--come on---other sports have TONS of math. I remember at the end of some NCAA game, they said some think like "Okay there's 30 seconds left, for X team to have a chance to win, they have to score X goal and get another possession."
College basketball commentators talk about style there too, but it's usually in the context of how they will score or how they will do against their opponent.
