Jason Brown

Those are great clips you guys posted!

Jason is so good at taking on characters (eg, Prince) and I'd love to see him channel a little of Astaire's delivery in Top Hat White Tie & Tails (deetrakt's clip) into his SP. I wonder if he's seen it or any other Astaire.....

Loving all these clips; so when will Jason do his Fred Astaire tribute based on the suggestions of his loyal fans

I agree that Jason and Astaire share the "consummate entertainer" approach to their craft. I also thought (since so many of us here are Max fans as well) of Max when I saw the clip of Astaire and Gene Kelly. Back in the day, word was that Gene Kelly was the more athletic dancer and Astaire the more elegant.

So, applying to our American men: I know that "Singing in the Rain" has been taken forever by Kurt, but wouldn't Max do a great job with it, and Jason ... Well, maybe "Cheek to cheek"? If boyish is bad for Jason (I don't think so, just reflecting on other comments), maybe he should go for all out romance?:drama:

Well of course: Eleanor Powell is the quintessential tap dancer. That clip was wonderful Papagena! Leslie Caron was a classic ballerina so tap wasn't second nature for her; Fred pulled that performance out of her. I posted it b\c I think it's a fun song and, in a strange way reminds me a little of 'Cotton-Eyed Joe'. Would love to see Max do 'Singing in the Rain' el henry.. it seems to fit his personality. Jason, of course, can do ANYTHING and it doesn't get more romantic than his FS this year ... so beautiful yet strong!

I miss cotton eyed Joe! I guess the chair was too dangerous, maybe? Although the new one really has grown on me.

Anyway, I actually had no idea who Eleanor Powell was - I just found that clip by scrolling down from one of the others. So thanks for that bit of history - I can see I'll be poking around YouTube quite a bit for clips of her now!

Here's some info I found about her:

http://www.danceheritage.org/powell.html

In one article I read they said the clip I posted is considered one of the greatest dance sequences on film - no wonder we like it. They also said Fred Astaire was intimidated by her!

It was actually quite cool to start watching that clip having no idea what to expect from her. And it is so amazing the way they play off each other, especially where she will do a move and he then imitates it, etc. And it's so clear they love working together.

Back to Jason!

Wow we are so lucky - a link to this beautiful fan cam of the free skate was just posted on FSU:

More glitter on the costume than I thought, but I still like it! ;)

His flow over the ice looks gorgeous here.

Ohhhhhhhh, I like the costume even MORE from this shot! I'm not usually a huge fan of asymmetrical, but both the collar and the waist here look so nice! And that's just the PERFECT amount of sparkles. (Are you listening, Rohene? :scowl: )

It does confuse me even more though. Is the darned thing blue or black?!

It's like it's black one second and then there's a hint of electric blue and then it's black again!

It's The Dress of the figure skating world

Huh - how did I miss Dressgate? OT but in that photo dress absolutely looks gold and white to me. And it's really royal blue? Wow.

Jason's costume looks black to me, although the camera lense seems to pick up some blue in a few frames. The decoration may include some iridescent crystals that flash blue, or that reflect the blue rink trim. I'll revisit after seeing it at Skate America - or maybe @polenka will comment if she ever manages to wade through the numerous Fred Astaire posts... ;)

I'm totally #teamwhiteandgold, too

To me it looks like there could be some blue trimming along the seams?

I promise to scrutinize his costume closely at Skate America so I can make a full report. Wow, just a bit over 2 weeks to go!
