And in a desperate attempt to cheer of Karne

here is my cat swooning for Brendan Kerry

I don't know why but for Brendan she was right on he back watching upside down... most skaters she just watches normal... but either she knew he was from down under and wanted to watch upside down, or she just thought he was a hottie and was trying to flirt through the monitor.

Your kitty has good taste...

I now have, for some reason, a little mental image of Josh and Jason sitting on a couch together with a big bucket of Josh-safe popcorn watching US Nationals together and cheering for their friends.

*peeking anxiously from the corner at Max*

Ohh i think we can have more fun than popcorn for them.

How about turkey legs? They need protein so it should be healthy enough, it is Josh safe they can kick back and feel like medieval kings lounging about.

Air popped popcorn with no butter should be fine - but then there is Angie's BOOMCHICKAPOP Salted Caramel Popcorn that's happens to be vegan. You can get it at Whole Foods and it is absolutely divine!

Turkey legs? They are 21 now - I guess it is time they start learning how to really cook.

I'm very sad about Jason. When he announced he was withdrawing form NHK, for some reason I never really worried that he wouldn't be at Nationals. Rest and get better and be ready to rock it next season.

Anyone need a video pick me up to go with their booze and snacks? This one never fails to make me laugh. Hard. (Note for those Jason fans who are cats and cat lovers: the kitty in this video was reportedly just fine).

Haha, that video literally made me burst out laughing, causing my husband to be very startled, at which point I showed it to him and he had the same reaction. Thanks for a moment of lightness in this otherwise sad day for Jason fans. ;)

Well I think the "nothing acute" comment is to emphasize that he really wanted to compete but the injury was an issue. When he W/D from NHK there were more than one snarky Twitter comment that he did because he was afraid of competing with all the quad-folks or whatever.

There are some people who are always looking for some underhand motive for anything happening - I suppose they find it more "interesting" than the plain facts? Also, I wonder why it is, that the people who seem to pride themselves on seeing through a brick wall better than the next person, always seem to see nasty things there? (shrug) After a while one just cannot care... I think I've heard it all... (and then someone comes up with something even more unbelievably stupid...)

I think Jason is feeling very sad right now because he could not compete to defend his title. Hopefully he will be healthy soon. Is there anyway so Jason can be included in the world team? Like winning senior B or something? But to be honest I highly doubt USFA would do so.

Petitioning for a bye is an option. And even Phil Hersh has said Jason should get it based on USFSAs criteria for such. Jason has not commented on it it farther than to say he is worrying about getting back on the ice first and will take it from there.

I don't think this is going to be a case of Jason's team clamoring for a bye but rather people encouraging him to apply for one. I think the issue of if he would get a bye is less relevant than the question of if he would be fit to compete by then. We just don't know how long his recover will take. If by some miracle he is in form by then, there is a good chance he would be there, but I think he would only seek a bye if he is in fact in good health and form.

It sounds like the issue last time was he just started training again too soon. So this time they are going to be much more cautious about when he returns. I actually think he could spring back relatively easily given that he does have good form/technique and that should help him in this regard. But he has to get to the point he can get back on the ice skating pain free before he can think about coming back to full form.

Personally I doubt we will see Jason again this season. The fact there is no time frame for his recovery suggests to me that the injury - whatever it is - is serious, and he won't start to train in any time soon, much less petition for a spot on the world team.

That said, I find some of the comments on the main forum about whether he would "deserve" a spot on the world team kind of surprising. Jason has been able to deliver in high pressure situations more consistently than any current US man. People don't seem to realize how crucial a factor that is to competitive success. He also had the mental strength to achieve averages scores in the 238-240 range this year, despite dealing with an increasingly painful injury. And always with a smile on his face. I will really miss him at Nats & hope his recovery is smooth and steady, if not fast.

Wishing Jason a speedy recovery, he will be very missed at nationals. Hope we can see him healthy soon :hap10:

I will miss Jason at the US Nationals. No matter what, you can always count on him to deliver an entertaining program full of unique and interesting steps and moves. I wish him the best in his recovery so we can see this talented, and just plain nice, guy back on the ice soon.

really was looking forard to seeing him :sad21:
