Jason Brown

I don't know if it's the camerawork but it looks like he's a whole lot faster than before?

I feel like i can breathe a sigh of relief - Jason's back! And he was beautiful. It wasn't perfect but I was happy just to see him.

Jason always grows into his programs the more he performs them, and you could see that this was his first outing with Appassionata - some of the jumps were a little scratchy and some of the movements didn't feel fully integrated. I'm so excited to see what this program will look on the Grand Prix.

Ooh I agree, it's gorgeous and can't wait to see how it grows as he becomes more comfortable with it. Love the constant movement - every element flows beautifully into the next. I agree jumps a bit scratchy and spins maybe not quite as good as usual, but for first competition in nearly 6 months, recovering from injury, and a brand new program to boot, that's not surprising and I'm sure it will improve. It's hard to tell about speed, but he seems to be using fewer crossovers and deeper edges.

I have to say I don't love the costume - it looks kinda Star Trek to me. But I'm so happy he's back with this beautiful new program I don't really care!

You are not alone... my better half called it "worst of Wesley Crusher and the 90s" I do think it seems a bit 90s and i get kinda a ski suit vibe from it.

I do like the neck line/shoulder area on him actually - the higher stiff collar works for him and i like the gray - i like gray a lot, gray is underused I think. The back is ok... but the soft pastel stuff on the front is not something I am a fan of. It gathers in such a way as to almost give him an artificially high waist line. I think if some of the swirls and gathering were more... well normal waist area, it might work better. This reminds me of an empire waist almost... and I have never been a fan of that. Even just scaling it as is to be about six inches longer would make it more attractive and with better lines i think.

I don't love the costume either, but I really like the neckline. That high collar thing is really lovely, unusual and flattering. If everything that's not grey was black, it would be perfect.

"high collar thing" very technical fashion term i fully agree with!

I would say the costume is good form the nipples up. I don't mind the dark blue. But just black and grey would be better.

Congratulations on a new personal best Jason! :hap10:

Previous SP PB:
Total: was 86.48, now 87.72
Component: was 42.61, now 44.20 (!)

...

ETA: It's still unclear whether the scores count as PBs though. But hopefully they do:)

Per Mrs. P  today (via her GS articles and her post in the TCC thread), TCC scores will not count as official ISU PBs.

But wonderful that Jason came back strong last night. Very happy for him.

And many thanks to Mrs. P for all of her reporting from Spokane.

Hearing Jason say, "Hey, GoldenSkate! ...," in your red-carpet video made my day :).

Haha glad I'm able to come up with fashion terms as well!

One thing I like about the costume is the different coloured sleeves. When he does the twizzle after the Lutz, it looks cool because it looks like he's holding one arm above his head when it's actually two. (or at least that's what it looked like to me)

Different colored sleeves can be used very well. That was one thing i missed/liked about Rohene's costume that Jason wore for a bit... the sleeves. I do like when that type of effect is achieved. I think it looks better in motion than still as well.

Also are the pants black or really dark navy blue?

Yeah. Or if it was a VERY dark gray, I would be fine as well. Like almost black. The gray is too jarring. Everything else is fine.

A new choerographer, please!!!!

Wow don't hold back  What's wrong with the choreography, in your opinion? There are parts that I don't love and parts that I think should be got rid of asap, but as a whole I think the programme is absolutely gorgeous :) I'm interested in hearing different viewpoints!

jason is a very complex character from the lirical at funny style. And a very energetic performancer. The choreography lately are very sugary and repetitive.

Are you not aware that he hurt his back and couldn't skate for almost 6 months? And that the choreography was designed not to reinjure him?
