Jason Brown

So here's something interesting: Jason's Riverdance video really is going viral on Facebook! Here are the numbers (M is millions, K is thousands):

Posted on 3/10/2017 by Celtic Thunder Official: 2.1M views, 24.9K likes, 3.4K comments, 41.4K shares
Posted on 2/17/2017 by Erin's Isle Irish Pub: 2.4M views, 19.3K likes, 4.1K likes, 38.9K shares

That's really amazing isn't it? I wonder if he knows?!

Just for fun, here's the Erin's Isle link, in HD:

ETA: I think Scott's commentary was a huge factor in that video going viral!

ETA 2: Its amazing to see how much he's progressed since then:

Wow, I didn't know about the Erin's Isle link (I was wondering when you said a couple weeks ago, what that was, cause I didn't see anything on the Celtic Thunder (my new favorite band:laugh:) website. Which great minds think alike, because I just checked for the numbers and saw the same numbers you cited, and people are *still* commenting, every minute or so, on the Celtic Thunder link.

I love reading the share comments because they are so innocent and fun, multiple "wow" and "amazing" and "awesome", and that's just in the last two hours. Over the course of the past few days, I did find one person saying they liked Bourne & Kraatz better (really, this is an Irish music site sweetie, no one knows what you're talking about)

and one guy saying he wanted five minutes of his life back. He would be at home on figure skating boards:laugh2:

But that was it. *One*. It's a real treat just to see the praise. And the people who comment on Scott's commentary uniformly like it too. No haterz there.

Was the original Riverdance 4M views? is it doubled? So cool....

I think the original Riverdance was 4.8M views and there's one up there right now that has close to a million views. So what the two FB posts have done in the last three weeks or so is pretty amazing, especially 3 years after the fact!

My favourite quote from the Erin's Isle post:

I'm 32 years old and in good physical condition. Could I take up figure skating now or would I be too old? This video is really inspiring . My new life goal is to be a figure skater

Brilliant!

My coach told me yesterday that she had seen the Riverdance video. She loves Jason now!

My mum, who goes on Facebook once in a blue moon, just rang and said that she had come across the Riverdance video there today. She's even more excited for Worlds now

My favourite quote from the Erin's Isle post:

Brilliant!

That was my favorite, too! And the Yuri on Ice ones.

ETA Erin's Isle now up to 2.5M views; Celtic Thunder up to 2.9M views! That's 5.4M views - and it's 700K in the last 24 hours - pretty good for a 3year old video that already went viral once!

I am having so much fun going to Celtic Thunder every day:biggrin: Particularly today, we were supposed to get up to two feet of snow and "only" got 13 inches. Since I have nowhere to go, what do I care?;)

I also loved how the commenters handled the haterz. (Of which there are literally three or four of 21K commenters). One person actually said about Jason "he's not doing anything special, those ice skating moves are 25 years old". Two persons answered. One said "what is wrong? Are you jealous? Are you not getting enough love in your life? Please go hug a tree"
The other said "Get a life".

I need to remember those lines, and sign those folks up for the Fan Fest.

My sister (who never watches skating) emailed me to say she put a really cool video on her FB page of that guy in the green shirt skating to Irish music. Ok, I think I may know who it is! :laugh2:

:thank: for all those links and spreading/reviving Jason's 'Riverdance' iconic program in one and only Nationals performance!!!

and thanks to All people sharing their love for that performance, that program and that skater - it is my must-see performance when I'm feeling down, Jason's exuberance, power and smile are truly inspirational, the energy I draw from his performance is immense.

And it's a great thing to witness how he developed since then, how well he capitalized on this powerfulness and impact created by his performance, how great his abilities as a performer progressed. He became a real showman, able to connect with so many people and take various music and themes - it's a true gift to have for me and it's equally hard to achieve on par with jumping abilities (and I'm fully aware this will be laughed at:))

I'm looking forward to see Jason in less than 2-weeks time, with all his infectious energy and joy for skating. We need more of those :cheer:

Lived and worked in Boston almost 35 years so this resonates with me.... Boston Irish are among the most enthusiastic, kind, exuberant, warm-hearted lovely people you will meet anywhere.... and will defend you to the death if they consider you their friend! Audience reaction to Jason's original Riverdance did not surprise me one bit... nor am I in the least surprised it is going viral again on FB!
(Rohene is a genius... he certainly understood the Boston audience and it's response to this program... it will be remembered and enjoyed for many years to come.. rightfully so!!)

Facebook update:

Celtic Thunder post: 3.8 million views
71,685 shares

best comments of the day: (remember this is a comment *to* Celtic Thunder) : "Thought you'd been hacked but see why you shared it now....!"

and a share from someone who doesn't know Jason as well as we do, but what a compliment: "To be sure, this Irish lad is no slouch on the skates?"

Topping 4 million by tomorrow?

3.9 million for Celtic Thunder + 2.6 million for Erin's Isle = 6.5 million views! Didn't I just post yesterday that the total was 5.4 million? That's 1million views in one day?! And it was 4.5 million the day before. Gasp!

Nice antidote to all that basura in the general forum, as is this!

For all you cat fans, he's mimicking the cat sculpture! Which is pretty funny. Especially cause lacks a tail...

Well, finally saw the Celtic Thunder post since my friend posted it on her Facebook page (non-skating fan).

Here's a comment one of her friends made:

Not into skating... but that was AWESOME!

Okey dokey, someone finally told Jason's team:

posted 17 hours ago in the comments section on the reposted Celtic Thunder link:

from Kori Ade: "Thank you Celtic Thunder for supporting @jasonbskates - we are grateful for the positive exposure and great juju just 2 weeks before he competes at World Championships in Helsinki! For updates, follow us at 7k International Skating Academy or @skate7k on Instagram. Happy St. Patrick's Day <heart emoji>"

I'm so glad they posted this version. The screams and claps of the crowd comes through so clearly! Also, I don't think I've ever seen this longer version of the K&C. Where was I? :scratch2:

ETA: USFS has also posted a link on its Instagram going to the FB post.

I have never seen this longer version of the KnC either; of course, the NBC version has Scott and Sandra reviewing the skate and talking right up to his scores (Sandra pretty much has to shut up in mid-sentence, doesn't she?) But this version is great, for those of us who have all the other commentary memorized, right up to "a little two foot on that one"

And now for the Jason Facebook slay count: 10 million total views (2.8 for Erin's Isle and 7.2 for Celtic Thunder) 134K shares from Celtic Thunder and 46K from Erin's Isle.

When I said 10 million in the general thread, I was combining the previous 2014 count with the Facebook count, not thinking it was just Facebook alone:dance:
