Jason Brown

Actually Cubs just won their National League pennant games at the time, but close enough.

And Northwestern did just make the NCAA tournament for the first time in their more than seven-decade program and won its first round game. So if you believe in // hometown sports occurrences, then there you go.

Thanks for correction! No it's just that Jason is a huge Cubs fan (not sure about Northwestern) and given the long drought I thought the parallel (no World Series berth / no quad) could have turned into: if they can get to the Eorld Series, I can land the quad. Or something like that!

Anyway, here's Jackie's first tweet, which I love:

Looks like he fell on them in both am and pm program run thrus, but at least it looks like he corrected the other mistakes on the pm run thru.

Well Jason DID speak with a bunch of Northwestern journalism students sometime back. So I don't mind using the //. :) Also Northwesten was seen as an underdog in the B1G (their conference), so there's that too. :)

And like Jason, Northwesten ain't going to settle for just being a Cinderella story. :)

He didn't fall on it in the 12:30 runthrough, it was just twofooted :)

Did you see this: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2017/03/31/221697316/karelian-hot-pot-browns-grace-second-to-none

A lesson in excellence

Was it the phenomenal short program score that gave Jason Brown some extra pep in his step Friday morning?

Perhaps, and his practice for the free was nothing short of stellar. In less than a minute, he successfully landed his quad toe, a triple axel-triple toe combination, another triple axel, and a triple loop. The generosity Brown gives himself, along with heart and soul to each element -- even in practice -- is phenomenal.

Every one of his jumps were crystal clear.

Brown's quality is simply the best type of quality!

Today's humor...

Reading the NYTimes at breakfast, (yes, we're those people, luckily we're on the East Coast, but we walk about five blocks each morning to go buy our dead tree Times), Spousal Unit hands me the sports section with a half page story and a photo of Nathan Chen.

"Look, there's figure skating going on. Do you know about this?"

:rofl2: Yes, dear, I know about this....

I'm here in Helsinki and just want to say I've been cheering hard! Got a plushy for him too, haha. I've met Jason and Cori a few times while here and met Rohene as well and they are just THE nicest people. And he skated SO WELL yesterday. I ended up watching the ladies free at the hotel with Jason's parents and he came in and they left (probably for dinner or something) but I congratulated him on his skate and he is just so very gracious. Warms your heart. He remembered me too.

Sending good vibes for Jason's FS tomorrow. Quad or no quad, we know he will come out and give 120%. Can't wait to see him skate his beautiful program.

I have such a good feeling about this. Oh, can you imagine, how it could be...the Piano with the quad, perfectly delivered...yes, this could be so very special.

Enjoy, Arriba, and report back! :)

Dani, thanks for your first-hand report! That's so awesome!

Sending Jason all kinds of good vibes for tomorrow! Hope he skates up to his own expectations. :)

So ISU Figure Skating's Snapchat Story has a clip of Jason's 3A-3T in the practice cave. If you go to "Stories" look up the "Figure Skating" tab.

It looks really good! Good coverage. If I figure out a way to get the video clip then I'll share it....they don't make it easy, LOL.

Thank you both for sharing these lovely stories!

As for tomorrow....I really hope he's happy with what he puts out there, and that it results in a clean beautiful skate! 😊

I have a really good feeling about Jason.

And that 3A-3T was beautiful!

I will try to go to Jason's practice again today, if we're not too busy :)

ETA It's good that I can type this post because he just took my breath away. Wow wow wow. Beautiful quad followed by 3A-3T, marked most of the rest of the programme.

ETA 2 I'm seriously still in awe. That programme is magnificent.

I saw you in the video stream! :)

Anyway, what TMC said, and there's video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slQR6YA7eRk It's still live for the last group, but you should be able to go back to about the -12:00 mark if you want to see the quad and the 3A-3T.

Oh no I hope I didn't do anything unseemly :D

ETA I always thought it was hyperbole when people said they 'could watch somebody just skate around the rink' but now I know it's true. He did maybe 15% of his free, and it was still so amazing and so moving.

Spellbinding. Absolutely mesmerizing. Another full standing ovation! I don't know if you heard it on tv, but as he was warming up, people on the opposite side of the arena from me shouted "we love you Jason". Then people from my side shouted "we love you Jason", to which the first group shouted back "we love you more"! It was hilarious :D

ETA He got a 10 for interpretation!!!
