Jason Brown

During one of the iceresurfings they interviewed a Finnish detective story writer Leena Lehtolainen. They asked her who of the skaters would he like to put on her books. She told she would make Jason as a murderer. And the reason was "because Jason is the nicest guy in the whole world, nobody would expect it." And then she said "I am sorry Jason, but it is just nobody really would believe it". And of course, Jason is her favourite skater.

I would just like to say Hanyu just mentioned Jason during the press conference and his SP, how it did so well, saying how quads are not everything and they (the skaters) must think about performance!

I want to stick that under certain people noses. Ahem. Very, very well done Jason. I am so happy.
(I am also not entirely coherent, will be back when I am)

Here's the clip (the English translation is around the 30 minute mark)

That was really cool of Hanyu to say that.

It would have been nice if he got the quad and didn't pop the loop, but considering his crazy season, I think he had a solid run and he held his end of the bargain to get 3 spots. But the quad was there in practice, so I'm hoping he gets WTT so he can try again one more time.

Also, the move from a 3F-3T to 3A-3T turned out to be quite smart. He got 14.37 points for the element (as noted earlier, the max score for a 3F-3T is 12.80). Here's hoping he can move that to the second half.

I hope he gets the quad(s) and he's close to consistency with the 4T -- I think he just ran out of time this season to get it truly consistent (and the injury didn't help matters). But I think he's maxed out as far as placement with out a solid quad. He had 12 point margin on the rest of the field below him but was more than a 20 point margin behind the top guys.

I too came here to post about Yuzu's shoutout to Jason at the press conference--such a wonderful moment.

And also to say how delighted I am that Jason did so well at Worlds, especially after all the criticism both he and his fans have had to endure lately. Although I primarily watch FS now because of Yuzu, I've also become quite enamored of Jason. He's a lovely skater and a lovely person as well.

So happy I was able to be a part of today's Jason Brown love fest! He held this arena in the palm of his hand. It was amazing! :cheer: 3 spots -- thank you Jason and Nathan!

Wasn't it incredible?! At times you could almost hear a pin drop, and then the roar at the end was so huge. I'm happy that my countrymen know quality when they see it! :)

It was amazing. It's such a treat to see something other than jumpnastics! So happy I got to thank Rohene for giving Jason great choreography. He really helps Jason maximize his strengths. :thank: Jason. :thank: Ro.

Me --

Even though it wasn't technically perfect, the program was so beautiful and emotional that I got chills watching it. Jason is a true artist AND a fierce competitor. Congrats to Jason and Nathan on achieving 3 spots for the Olympics! I think there is good possibility that Jason will be asked to perform at the exhibition as a fan favorite even though he wasn't a medalist, just as he did at 4CCs.

It also seems likely that he will be named to the WTT team and so we'll have a chance to see the programs one more time.

I'm 100 % sure he will be in the gala. They can't ignore the audience reaction to both of his programmes

Just a quick pop-in since I won't be able to watch the long until later and I don't want to be spoiled for dance. From what I hear, Jason did his job and did it beautifully. USFS can't complain about that. Of course I would have loved for him to have had a technically perfect skate-of-his-life long, but I'm so happy he skated well at the event, was a crowd-pleaser, and was even able to put out some nice quads for show. AND has the support of the judges. After all the concern about being able to recover from injury in time, this is all that I wanted.

This guy has so much talent and such a great future ahead of him. Jason, you are amazing.

Spellbinding. Absolutely mesmerizing. Another full standing ovation! I don't know if you heard it on tv, but as he was warming up, people on the opposite side of the arena from me shouted "we love you Jason". Then people from my side shouted "we love you Jason", to which the first group shouted back "we love you more"! It was hilarious :D

ETA He got a 10 for interpretation!!!

This is great! Thanks, TMC!

Well, I wasn't getting up that early in the morning even for Jason:laugh:

But of course I am thrilled. Thank you, competition attendees, for your reports  and thank you, Japanese speakers, for your translations of Yuzu's kind words

Other skaters tweeted how beautiful Jason's skate was (Eric Radford, Javier Raya) but my favorite was my gal Alexa Scimeca Knierim:

"All the feels. All the chills. I love @jasonbskates <three heart emojis>"

:agree:

Beyond thrilled for how well Jason did today - he did a clinic on: 1) How to not let a fall affect your performance AT ALL, and 2) What one foot skating is.

I'm trying to decide who had the best edges today - Patrick Chan or Jason Brown. They were both too good!

Kudos to Jason and Nathan for earning that third spot for next year! :yahoo:

just wanted to pop there to show my deepest gratitude and adoration towards Jason - in all this underwhleming feelings experienced, he truly showed a great spirit of competition without unnecessary venom of hate, which I love. One of very few skaters/cases where I felt inspired by his attitude and stuff performed, not confused, discouraged, disappointed or plain sad.

my recaps on Jason's programs are already posted in program threads, will paste them here or maybe write something else/more, but now I'm just plain tired of everything and anything, with FD on the lead...:slink:

thank God skaters seem to be wiser and more considerate than some ppl there...

and Yuzuru always saving the say - he like no one else knows the value and worth or good, engaging performance and importance of it, aside of jumping abilities, because he's living with that. It takes a similar level of care taken over perfromance as a whole to understand from where Jason comes and the appeal and value of that approach.

and as evil am I - as a fan of Jason, this Jason already done/crossed out/with no chances in paper, but still holding up the way he does, I'll rub it under the nose of certain people here if I see something I don't like:devil:

Congrats to Jason for getting an invite to the gala. Congrats to Misha too!

I wouldn't read too much into Jason getting the nod over Nathan. Misha Ge finished 12th and got the nod over Patrick Chan who finished 5th. It looks like the organizers chose a few well known entertainers and crowd favorites in addition to the top finishers.

I think Misha is Misha and likely already was arranged to be in the gala no matter what... I think he usually ends up being the group number choreographer.
