Jason Brown

The interview with Charlie was the cutest. I want Jason to make the O team so much. We need his elegance on the ice and his enthusiasm off it. Please stay healthy Jason.

There is an article in NYT today about the whole comp (mostly the winner) but Jason got a mention too

Jason Brown, the other American man in the competition, fell on his opening jump, also a quadruple, but recovered well and put together a typically strong interpretive performance, full of impressive spins and footwork.

Brown finished seventh. His and Chen’s combined result was just enough to give the United States the maximum three men’s entries for the 2018 Olympics.

Not just the second half... he is the last skater before the four gold medalists... something tells me someone thinks he is popular with that crowd.

:agree2:
I wish we had a smiley with a halo, that'd be most appropriate now

Jason was exquisite. I hope this serves as a huge confidence booster going forward. And even though he didn't land the quad, even with his injuries it looks so much better than his attempts last year. I really think he'll get it by next year. The judges are rewarding his skating- if he can get his tech score up who knows.

Either way, after Hanyu, Jason's was my favorite skate. His skating is more than beautiful.

for me, Jason embodies 'more' in his skating and gives it a new meaning, especially in time where 'more' means usually 'more quads' added to the programs.

and way to go in EX before champions - for me, a potato amateur viewer Jason is a champion of this Worlds in some sense, and a winner, just not in litteral sense :)

From all of the positive feedback, clearly Jason made a positive impression on the skating community. I hope it helps him politically in the US and out. I'm also hoping it gives him a big enough confidence boost to help him land a quad or two.

Great interview with Charlie White!

There is too much awesomeness said here.

Ooh, thank you! Loved this interview!

I am so happy for Jason - he put out two beautiful, beautiful skates here, and as TMC and others have said, held the audience in the palm of his hand both times! We were all hoping - I'm sure he was hoping - to see a flawless quad in the FS, but as Kori told him, this isn't the end of his journey. Realistically, he had to cram an entire off-season's worth of recovery/ work into the 5 weeks between 4CC and Worlds. It was fantastic to see him land clean quads in practice but I think he just needs a bit more time. Maybe by WTT? Anyway, I'm glad he went for it here under huge pressure and went on to give a really good performance.

I'm so proud of him  He was absolutely stunning, I nearly cried.

I'm wondering about WTT. I'm not so sure about it. Maybe it would be better for him to go straight to off-season mode and finish healing up that leg?

Re WTT: I dunno. I actually think he's healed and now it's a question of building up his strength, stamina, and consistency on the quads. I noticed over the course of the week he was starting to get back some power and height in his jumps. But he needs more, and he needs more comfort with the quad. So in a way I think it would be great if he could take what he did here and continue the process. I also bet that after NHK he'd love to give his Japanese fans a great pair of performances.

On the other hand, we don't want him injured again, the coming season will be long and tough, and he needs new programs. So I can see the argument for time off. Still, as between this and Stars on Ice / charity benefit shows, I think this would be more useful.

Well, we'll see, I guess. I have to confess I have an ulterior motive for either Nathan or Jason not going to WTT :o: but I really do think Nathan, at least, could benefit from a rest, and I'd like to see a full, healthy season out of Jason next season.

That is just too cool, Jason being invited to the gala and also that prestigious position of skating right before champs I'm sure the crowd will love "Canned Heat".:gclap:

And I will admit in a selfish way, WTT would also be cool, Jason thrives so well in those "team" situations. Is it in Japan again? It would be great for his Japanese fans to see, we hope, healthy Jason.

Huh. Jason has moved up to 5 in World Standings, 6 on Season's World Standings, and 7 for SB total score (9 SP / 7 FS). Not bad without a quad in this day and age.

Not bad at all! In fact, that's pretty amazing! :)

Being a fierce and consistent competitor will do you good things. ;)

I do think people underrate Jason as a competitor because he's so sweet and smiley. They think he's not tough. Oh, he's plenty tough.

During one of the iceresurfings they interviewed a Finnish detective story writer Leena Lehtolainen. They asked her who of the skaters would he like to put on her books. She told she would make Jason as a murderer. And the reason was "because Jason is the nicest guy in the whole world, nobody would expect it." And then she said "I am sorry Jason, but it is just nobody really would believe it". And of course, Jason is her favourite skater.

They also told Jason about this in another interview during an ice make, and he loved the idea. He also said that he loved the audience and that it was "perhaps the best audience in his career", though I'm sure he must mean the best international audience since Boston 2014 was on another level, obviously.

Yes, the japanese audience was very great
