Also Misha is more than likely retiring, which played a part too.
Another excellent thing, in my humble opinion, is seeing Jason's name - in the second part of the gala

Jason Brown, the other American man in the competition, fell on his opening jump, also a quadruple, but recovered well and put together a typically strong interpretive performance, full of impressive spins and footwork.
Brown finished seventh. His and Chen’s combined result was just enough to give the United States the maximum three men’s entries for the 2018 Olympics.
Not just the second half... he is the last skater before the four gold medalists... something tells me someone thinks he is popular with that crowd.
Jason was exquisite. I hope this serves as a huge confidence booster going forward. And even though he didn't land the quad, even with his injuries it looks so much better than his attempts last year. I really think he'll get it by next year. The judges are rewarding his skating- if he can get his tech score up who knows.
Either way, after Hanyu, Jason's was my favorite skate. His skating is more than beautiful.
I'm so proud of him  He was absolutely stunning, I nearly cried.
I'm wondering about WTT. I'm not so sure about it. Maybe it would be better for him to go straight to off-season mode and finish healing up that leg?
: but I really do think Nathan, at least, could benefit from a rest, and I'd like to see a full, healthy season out of Jason next season.Huh. Jason has moved up to 5 in World Standings, 6 on Season's World Standings, and 7 for SB total score (9 SP / 7 FS). Not bad without a quad in this day and age.

During one of the iceresurfings they interviewed a Finnish detective story writer Leena Lehtolainen. They asked her who of the skaters would he like to put on her books. She told she would make Jason as a murderer. And the reason was "because Jason is the nicest guy in the whole world, nobody would expect it." And then she said "I am sorry Jason, but it is just nobody really would believe it". And of course, Jason is her favourite skater.
They also told Jason about this in another interview during an ice make, and he loved the idea. He also said that he loved the audience and that it was "perhaps the best audience in his career", though I'm sure he must mean the best international audience since Boston 2014 was on another level, obviously.

Yes, the japanese audience was very great![]()
