Jason Brown

Love these RMDH photos. It always amazes me that during a busy, sometimes stressful, jetlagged competition, Jason still makes time to think of others and visit with children. And he's such a natural with kids!...Also hope we get to read the Q & A he did with his Japanese fan club. No wonder they love him so much!

And the truly wonderful thing is that his sincerity just shines through. You can tell he's doing this because he really cares, and he just seems to bond with the children.

Jason didn't get a plus giant rice ball thrown on ice but he did get a rice ball hat from fans that he and Ashley C. wore in the KnC:

Isn't that awesome?! I would be thrilled to death to throw him a gift and know that he used it! And it really does look like a MUST HAVE {{:laugh2:}} item. I thought Team Japan had some amazing props, but Team USA was a VERY close second!

Now that I'm home, I finally got to see Jason's programs. Both were great. The FS, in particular, was quite compelling. WTT scoring was a bit inflated, but I truly think his StSq was performed best here. And other than 4CC and NHK, he got another 170+ score this season. He should be really proud of himself here. He and Nathan really helped Team USA get bronze -- and an extra $10k in prize money. Team USA and Team Canada were tied in Ladies and Dance and Team Canada had an 3-point margin in Pairs.

Nathan - 20
Patrick - 17
Jason -15
Kevin - 5.

USA: 35
Canada: 22
Margin: 13

Overall Team USA margin to Canada: 10 points.

For all the talk about having "nothing to lose," it turned out that Jason needed clean programs. He might have even got an extra point and moved up one placement had he done the Loop -- his margin to Kolyada was fewer than five points. But that's obviously water under the bridge and it wouldn't have made a difference in the final results.

Obviously, I think he pretty much maxed out his current layouts as far as placement/scores. He beat Patrick and Boyang when both had a bad day - but otherwise the cream of the crop (i.e. the rest of the medal contenders) is still out of reach and Mikhail is a threat (I say that in a competition matter, I actually like the guy's skating). Crossed fingers he doesn't get injured and makes some progress on quads during the off season. Also here's hoping he'll keep the consistency on the 3As too (The only poor 3As were at NHK, where he had one downgrade (FS), one -GOE (FS) and one with zero GOE (SP) and he popped the jump at US Classic in the FS) He hit all the other 3As with +GOE including when he was in recovery at Nationals and 4CC (EDITED in the FS. He missed the 3A in both SPs.)

Here's to a successful season! :hb: I'm so happy for how well Jason did and especially him and Nathan getting that third spot for next year. I have no idea who will end up with that spot, but they will be very happy.

And given how unpredictable the men are, it could be Jason that ends up benefiting from that spot. (Or Nathan even, but for now he looks like a shoo-in in his current state).

Even with three spots, still tough competition. There are four US men in the top 12 in the ISU Season's Best List:

Nathan: 307.46
Jason: 273.67
Adam: 267.53
Vincent: 258.11
--
Max: 242.74
Grant: 235.72

And Joshua Farris is going to be a major dark horse depending on his progress. It's going to be pretty heartbreaking for someone no matter how you cut it.

While drawing a monthly tracker, I wrote the initials of months and realized that July to November stood for Jason.
Uhm, never mind me, I'm having an end-of-season withdrawal. I'll rewatch Jason's gala number to cheer me up.

He is so good example figure skating is more than jumps. He is able to do other moves only few other men can.

His twitter makes my cry, so sweet. I have very personal contact to sick children IRL, so those photos of him in the RMC houses makes me even more fan of his.

Have these been posted yet?

Man, just rewatched the FS again - it was unbelievably beautiful. 😍

ETA ever wonder just how much of an oversplit Jason gets? See here!

Jason was with Zhenya and Javi today, giving lessons to Japanese Juniors at Yoyogi. You can see him in the pics there, google auto-translate is pretty good on this one

Thank you for explaining the photos:agree:; I saw them on Twitter, but did not understand the context.

I think I may see Mikhail Kolyada in one of the photos? I thought it was cute during the victory ceremony, Jason was of course dancing throughout the ceremony and hugging all the other skaters, and when he got to Mikhail, Mikhail gave him what we called back in the day, the "soul shake". Very friendly, not mean, but cute .... no hugs for Mikha:laugh:

No problem! I was wondering why those three and then I realized, Japanese of course! The Juniors are unlikely to have that much English, especially in Japan, but these three can all communicate with them. It's awfully nice of him (all of them) to do this, sweeties!

And yes, I think that's him too, that hair and of course the jacket but they didn't tag him in the article so I wasn't sure. I think Mika may be on the shy side.

As much as I hate to refer to this Twitter feed, TSL has tweeted that Jason will train with Frank in May. (Dave has been right about coaching situations before).

I won't link because 1. I'm on an iPad and I can't and 2. Dave goes on to snark about Kori. And almost every other USFA coach except Frank and Raf. :dev2:

For various reasons, I am very done with TSL now, but this was news. I do like to see Jason in the desert:clap:

Do you think it will be in the desert or at the Toyota Center?

With all the talk about rice balls at the WTT and Jason's pics, I may be making a trip to the local H-Mart tomorrow to pick some up. :)

Good point; it just said Frank, as "Jason Brown is supposed to visit Frank again in May". (I am assuming it is Frank Carroll, and not like the ghost of Frank Sinatra:laugh:).

I have never ever had a rice ball......:slink:

I'm glad that Jason is traviling too train some with frank in may . I really want Jason too be well and healthy and injury free next season and master those quads down for next season I belive its the only way he will have a slight chance and I mean chance too try too quilfy for the 2018 olyimpcs there is a lot of competition out there we have seen plenty of proof of that just this season. I would really love too see him there , and too metal would be even better. a lot can happen in 3 years this might be hi last shot who knows, and I know kori and rohene will have him ready.:yahoo::hap10::cheer2::2thumbs:

No one has posted this yet???? Jason screaming his head off until his voice gets hoarse as he leaves Tokyo. "BYEEEE SEE YOU SOON, TAKE CARE!!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!" just when you thought he couldn't be any more adorbs than he already is... :luv17::love:

Of course, I had no idea what he was saying, so :agree: for the translation!

How does his Japanese sound? Or is it too hard to tell when he's screaming to a crowd?
