Jason Brown

These You Tubes are gonna be great! Love the news coming straight from Jason! Wish other skaters would do the same! Love the way he seemed so genuinely happy for Rohene to be honored with his choreography award.

Does anyone feel like posting a question on Deanna Stellato's IG?

She has the same photo, from a different perspective, of Jason, Nate and the gang at Monument, but *her* comment says: "Quick stop @skate7k for a day with the amazing @roheneward!!! Plus, we got to sneak a peak @jasonbskates short program and it was amazing!!" (with appropriate emojis)

So are we really going to have to wait for Broadmoor to find out?:drama:

So, speaking of Broadmoor. Can someone explain what would be worthwhile seeing? I'm only available to go Wednesday evening (getting there at 5-ish, if it's worth it) or Thursday. I've looked at the schedule but don't understand everything. What is CE? Would appreciate any help.

CE is "combined event" - Broadmoor often has SP-only or FS-only comps.

CE stands for combined event (SP + FS) and skaters can choose to enter the Combined Event or the SP Only or both (which Jason has done before). In looking at the schedule for Wednesday, the senior men's SP Only is at 9:30 and that would be a great chance to get a first look at Jason's program (if he competes).

Have fun!

about this genuine happiness of Jason for Rohene - I noticed that too, but I guess that positivity in general, openness and sensibility shown towards people in general by Jason translate into his 'particular cases' of proud, happiness and compassion for success expressed. He just seems to have no boundaries or reservations when it comes to show appreciation and positive attitude towards others' accomplishments, qualities, successes, it's very prominent hearing his interviews, looking at his reactions to various skaters, how he embraces every audience showing love for skating in general, honest way, through his performances and way he lives.

What I take the most from these YT videos is this honest feel of joy, enthusiasm oozing from every gesture, every move, every meet and every interaction Jason does. As a pretty 'negative thinker' myself considering life in general, I really cherish and try to absorb this authentic positivity not only about sport I love, but about living, too. It may sound silly, but every time I see those candid videos with Jason, I feel like he want to embrace everyone, give a smile to everyone and laugh with everyone; I feel just so 'uplifted' after seeing those clips, it's just great to see that passion present in everything Jason does, it's very inspiring.

I wonder when we'll find out if he's competing this week?

Sylvia tracks the summer comps on her website Unseen Skaters Online and here's what she posted about Broadmoor this morning:

This week’s major club competitions are the Broadmoor Open in Colorado Springs, CO and the Chesapeake Open (first notable ice dance comp.) in Laurel, Maryland — more information to come in my next blog post. Unfortunately, there is no free live stream for the Broadmoor Open like there was last year, as the official videographer is charging to watch online this year: click here for live stream info. An all-event pass is $45 (Wednesday to Saturday) and a 24-hour pass costs $15. I am hoping to compile a list of notable entries by later today.

I think Jason qualifies as a notable entry () so we may know later today if he's entered.

Gosh I sure hope she can find out! It's so frustrating that neither the club itself nor 7K/Jason have done so. As to the Aerial Challenge.....I think this is the third year in a row that they've promised live streaming without, so far, coming through. The fact that they sent out a go fund me request and a few days before the competition starts they're still silent about everything gives me a bad feeling.

A caution that even if Jason's name is on entry lists for Broadmoor Open, I do not think that it would be a guarantee that he will compete??

IIRC, what happened in 2016 is that at the time of TCC, he planned to compete at Broadmoor -- and said so on the record to Mrs. P.
And he really did enter.
But he was listed as WD on Broadmoor result sheets.

What I do not recall clearly is whether it did not become public knowledge until the very day/hour of competition that he had withdrawn??

If I recall, we didn't find out until after the SP only was over. Stitch reported he didn't compete in that, and then I think Sylvia may have announced it.

In this case since he's supposed to be doing the jumps event, I'm hoping that there's less chance he'll withdraw from the Broadmoor portion, but you're right - there's no guarantee he won't withdraw even if he is scheduled to compete.

Entry list is out, per Sylvia on Twitter. No Jason, but someone I love just as much...

It will be great to see Josh!

I'm a little disappointed but not really surprised about Jason. I'm hoping it's because he wants to focus on the jumps event and not that he's spread himself too thin this past month. It will be interesting to see if he debuts his programs at Skate Milwaukee or some other obscure place or if he'll just do it at Glacier Falls.

From the looks of that schedule, Thursday afternoon's men's CE would be worth seeing live. I think I'll get the stream so I can watch the novice and junior ladies tomorrow and then maybe go down for Thursday's events. Much better timing - non rush hour.

From Sylvia's blog. The senior men:
SENIOR MEN (CE=Combined Event) — Thursday 12:30-1:30 pm MT
11 names are published in the program as follows:
*Timothy Dolensky (SA), *Joshua Farris, *Tomoki Hiwatashi (UGL), Ben Jalovick (SA), Colton Johnson (UGL), Luke Kirchgessner, *Alex Krasnozhon J1, Jimmy Ma (NA), *Jordan Moeller (UGL), Luke West, *Vincent Zhou (CP).
SP Only event is Wednesday 9:30-10 pm MT — starting order: Moeller, Krasnozhon, Jalovick.

It would have been nice to see Jason, but I'll be happy to see 3 of his training mates. Was Max expected to compete at the Open?

Not 100% sure but I don't think Max usually does Broadmoor - for past couple of years I think he's done collegiates?

Anyway, great that you're going to the CE on Thursday- we'll all look forward to your report, even if it's Jasonless! In addition to Jordan et al, everyone will be dying for firsthand news of Josh. Also since Vincent won Junior Worlds, it will be interesting to hear about his new programs.

p.s. Any updates will be greatly appreciated.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, I'm so jealous. Have a great time!

Was Max expected to compete at the Open?

No, we don't normally see him until quite late.

So, why did I think Broadmoor was *next* week .... :o:

And I must admit I read the entries, I just sort of went, Jordan good, Tim D., good, Alex K. (I have a soft spot for Rodeo), good, Josh, good....

Wait a minute, Josh?!? It didn't even hit me the first time:laugh:

Have a great time @Rosa74! Maybe you'll see Jason or Rohene in the audience, and you can just ask them to confirm that danged Hamilton program!;)

I may be the only one who didn't know this, but....

that cute video we've seen a few times on IG and Twitter of Jason and that way-too-adorable Japanese toddler:

https://twitter.com/jasonbskates/status/877350202432253952

Did you know that she is saying "Jason-san"? and that he is replying "Here!". I had no idea, until I saw the translation on a Facebook page maintained by a valued GS poster;)

Now I have expanded my Japanese vocabulary:laugh:

^^^Can this be any cuter?! Almost sounds to me like he's answering "yes". If he really does eventually teach English in Japan, it will indeed be awesome. The country may never be the same!!!! :luv17:
