Jason Brown

Are you in New England or the Jersey/Delaware coastline? (One of the very few times that Delaware will get more snow than northeastern Pennsylvania ) At least you're not in Erie;)

Hoping the power stays on for the important things like skating!

A new resident of NE CT since Thanksgiving. Moved down from NH for CT's palm trees and sunny skies (ahem).. My new (old) house is way off in the boonies and no generator so am staying with sis and her husband (wheel-chair bound physically but a soaring bird spiritually). THEY have a generator for essentials only so no TV... storm is picking up now; fingers-crossed we come thru ok but, yes, Erie was the WORST. My nephew and his wife drove back to NY state along that corridor on the edge of that storm and made it... (they are now in New Orleans for a conference .. texted "it's cold here too"!!)
Thanks for asking.. not too much information I hope ..:coffee:

Getting ready to head out to an event that should last 4 to 5 hours. Just long enough. :) Don't plan to check results til I get home.

Let's go JASON! Show everyone your love and enthusiasm for your Hamilton short, as well as your beautiful skating skills! You're an awesome skater!

Catch y'all later!

Well done Jason!

Sad to see that it looks like 80% of the comments on Twitter with the championship hashtag are dissing Jason :( I don't take it too seriously though because most of these people are fine with URs and even blatant DGs when it's their favourite...

Agreed. Jason made one mistake in the SP -- a two-footed and borderline UR 3A, otherwise he received positive GOE on all his other elements and achieved level 4s on all his spins/steps. He was dinged with negative GOE for the landing of the 3A but no UR was called. Should it have been? I don't know.

On the plus side, both Lin-Manuel Miranda and Leslie Odom, Jr. have tweeted encouragement to Jason.

Here's hoping for the best in the long program!

Go Jason! :cheer:

Just wanted to add a few comments for you all.

He is probably the most bothered by the 3A error. As I said, he did not miss a single 3A attempt during any of the warm-ups (pre-competition and at the competition). I do think he probably felt a bit of pressure after skating to Adam's electric performance. As I said, it was really hard for me to see the rotation since it was on the other side of the rink (and I'm nearsighted!) but I did think it was borderline -- it was reviewed. I sat right behind Tara, Johnny and Terry + their researchers so there was several of those screens within sight.

But the rest of the performance outside of the 3A was amazing. As I mentioned in the men's thread, his SS really has improved from 2014. I argue it's improved from the spring of 2016, when I saw him at Team Challenge Cup. I'm glad the judges rewarded him in transitions because there's lots of cool ones in this program!

During the 20-minute warm-up, he did a crap loads of 3F-3Ts, like he needed a reminder that it was his money jump.

I will say that he is truly beloved by the people who go to these events, i.e. Nationals/ Skate America. I know it's easy to think Twitter/forums speak for the general skating crowd-- but he is REALLY popular. At one point they were showing signs people were waving during the final group and I'd say that most the signs were for Adam and Jason with Nathan being third. I was reminded that he really has the ability to draw people in with just his skating, it's something that is missed when you aren't watching live.

Sidenote: I did see Rohene at the bar at the skater's hotel. I didn't talk to him or anything -- too busy enjoying my IPAs

Thanks for tweets from the Hamiltonians, @Katmari. Made my day!

I dropped out of the Men’s SP Chat for the final round, because I didn’t want to see what they were going to say, and I’ve just taken a peek:disapp: I needed to come back here so I didn’t type in fury. Most folks here know about the Grant-Jason bromance, and how much they like and respect each other. And I really like Grant. And he had a great skate.

But all the Grant wuzrobbed from people who couldn’t pick Grant out of a lineup prior to Nats? Not cool.

Oh! There was a sign for Jason that was super cute. One sign said "I want to be in the room where IT happens." And then there was a second sign. "And by IT I mean hugging Jason Brown." AW.

I was in Erie and it was business as usual. Being out during the storm is always horrible, but once done, it was just Erie in the winter, which means, full of tons of snow

Welcome to the Jason Fan Fest, Erie Cold! I have pretty good friends who were born and raised in Erie, and live there, and I travelled there semi-frequently for work. I’m glad you thought it was business as usual over Christmas, but they most definitely did not

They are troopers though. I remember the first time I went to Erie about 35 years ago, I fell and slid on a patch of ice. I was in my 20s and so embarassed, all those “old” people were doing just fine.;)

Another reason I’m not a skater:biggrin:

Fortunately the power stayed on (so the FS feast on TV was a gift!) I am not surprised you say "business as usual"; we tend to forget our worst weather is a walk in the park for our Canadian friends & neighbors! I will say that digging out today and feeding goats, sheep, horses, guineas, chickens in gale force winds was challenging!! Monday temps go up to 40+ with rain... Oy! Somebody up there does not like us :sad46:

Jason did so well in the short... I notice the complainers are usually the same people over and over who have and are rooting for their own chosen ones (for whom they are willing to turn a blind eye to their favs shortcomings) so I pay no mind. Grant DID skate well but can implode if he is sent to international comps and I believe Jason's tendency to remain solid and competitive from one comp to the next is definitely in his favor... audiences know what to expect from him more or less. Even some of Jason's SP detractors admit they look forward to his FS because it is divine.

OK, for perspective, and to cleanse one's palate from the never-ending 3A and Hamilton prattle....

Has everyone seen this IG post by Jordan Moeller? (ETA: I cross posted in the Men's FS thread too) Just as I am impressed by Jason as a person, I am now so impressed by Jordan. And unlike Jason, Jordan is *not* a social media presence

And the thought of Jordan crying on a park bench after his SP, which this post does not come out and say but I have to believe is what happened, has me
