Jason Brown

What do folks think about TSL’s tweet about Jason and Kori? Can it possibly be true?:(

I want to discuss here, because if I head into the Main Forum, I fear there may be too many “told ya so” and “Jason needs big time help” posts, which I can’t deal right now. The old lady cane is too far away:biggrin:

I don't think this is that big of a surprise. Didn't you guys think he was shopping around when he was spending time with Audrey in VA before 4CC? I did. But just the fact that he's looking around doesn't mean he's "left Kori". It might just mean that they mutually agreed that there needs to be a change and he should investigate his options. It doesn't have to mean he left suddenly which is what TSL seems to be implying, and could take his time looking. He was with Rohene yesterday at a rink, for what it's worth.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if Kori no longer wants to be an elite coach. She has little kids and the travel is brutal.

I would be surprised if it were a total break, I just can’t see that. Or not amicable, the way that tweet implies.

But we have been talking about Jason taking more responsibility for himself, for his career, for his direction as a skater, so would he see a move as that direction? (Not that I think he is or has been passive, just being more outwardly assertive I guess).

From my own personal perspective, given the catty, to say the least, things that TSL has said about Kori and Rohene, I would hate for it to be true to add grist to their mill:disapp:

And who the heck is feeding Dave this 7K (Tomoki, Jason) news?:(

I agree that we could be seeing a case of Kori cutting back. Unlike other elite coaches, she's running a full-fledged skating program. She has staff, of course, but she's basically the head person of 7k, not to mention that she built that program from the ground up.

If you remember, when she moved to Colorado, her plan was to get on staff at World Arena or an existing rink. Basically she was handed an empty rink and given the keys to develop a program herself. I can imagine how coordinating 7k and doing coaching seminars would have been plenty of work. Throw in a few elite US and International competitors and you got a crazy huge workload. Maybe it just became too much after a while... and Jason is like a son to her, so perhaps she felt it was best to let him move on, which would allow her to focus more on the stuff that's the most important to her.

However this is a full guess and it could just be simple as Jason wanting some new scenery.

It sounds like TSL has a parent/family source at 7k who is telling them this stuff.

I’m excited to see Jason taking ownership of his career by considering all his options. With a big miss like not making his second Olympic team, he had to look at what he could be doing better. Sometimes a fresh start is a good way of moving past a disappointment without a mental block.

Possibly, but in this case, the source doesn't have to be someone that close to Jason. It's obvious exactly what rink(s) he was at yesterday. Dave could know someone there, or someone there could have voluntarily passed that info on. If he is searching for a new rink home, I wish him luck.

My assertion is also based on the Grenoble Bathroomgate of 2017 Dave mentioned that he had "Parents at 7k" who were concerned about Kori or something like that.

Dave does to see to have some good LA-based moles, so it could have been one of them.

Well, cool. Park City's a great place to go if you are going to go skiing, LOL.

Why do people think it’s okay and that they’re being nice and open minded if they say, “theres nothing wrong with Jason wanting to skate for fun even if he can’t compete for medals and what a lovely show skater or coach he’ll be.”

Eh whatever. I wasn't kidding that I want Jason to be the ShibStory of 2022. This is the perfect position for Jason to be in.

I'm eager to hear more news, whatever it is.

wow this is shocking news .if its true news I always thought he would stay with kori. please us posted on any new updates about this,

That is hilarious!

Jason’s back in Colorado it seems. His mom was in LA also, according to Arseno Hall’s tweet. I wish we had more news on the coaching situation. And Worlds. I suppose it will all come soon enough.

Ok folks, I have nothing but the usual speculation, but

1. Jason’s IG is in *another* airport??? With the emojis: American flag-plane-American flag (there goes the Brian Orser theory;)
2. Kori is giving a seminar at Scott Hamilton’s Academy at the end of March. Does this make it more likely or less likely she is decamping to Tennessee?
3. Ro is in Sun Valley. Just peripatetic ;)

Discuss.

I think that photo is from his flight back to Coloraldo... but no way of knowing for sure, lol.

Oooh is Rohene maybe joining the Sun Valley ensemble cast?

Well there’s this interview with Scott Hamilton at the Olympics, dated 2/16/2018:

“One night earlier, he had dinner with Orser, his old rival. Orser may have been a silver medalist as an Olympian, but he is now the top figure skating coach in the world, with gold medalists Yuzuru Hanyu and Kim Yuna among his pupils.

Why Hamilton has big dreams for Nashville figure skating

At dinner, Hamilton threw out his dream of creating an elite figure skating program in Nashville. Of national and world championships taking place at Bridgestone Arena.

“He said, ‘We’ll come. We’ll bring skaters. We’ll hang out with you and check it out and help you learn how to build an elite program,’” Hamilton said of Orser. “And I was just like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ I’ve known Brian forever and he said, ‘Yeah, I’ll come.’ I mean, that’s like winning the lottery. When you have the winningest coach in the world right now offering just to come.””

Right now, they’ve only got a LTS program and some free style ice, so what they’re talking about is way different.

So Jason is back in Colorado.

But he could go to Tennessee when Brian helps Kori and Scott build the program:agree:

And Ro should be the director at Sun Valley:agree:

Speculation is fun!:)
