Jason Brown | Page 502 | Golden Skate

Jason Brown

Are any of you having problems in here? El Henry was saying something about the pages on their mobile device. It seems fine on my PC.

Yup ... Tavi's entire OP is at the top of every page on my Samsung phone. ( pages 666, 667, 668, 669... that is,as far back as I went..)

Thanks. I believe this is being worked on. Hang in there Jason lovers. I know that, like Jason himself, this place is a wonderfully positive environment. :hap36:

No Problem!!! Just going through some of the stuff there.. it's great!!

Reading that huuuugeee OP did make me feel sentimental, LOL. This FF is almost 5 years old. And man I feel like Jason went through so much in that period, good and bad.

Which some of us will relive every time we check into the Fan Fest.

Sorry, couldn’t resist, I know it’s being worked on. Keeps my fingers nimble

So it’s wonky for me, too. But re the OP: Mrs P and Doris deserve the real credit - I’ve just updated it a bit. And should be updating more frequently and promise to do so as soon as my taxes are done!

Re Jason: was that story from yesterday/today, do you think? I know sometimes people post old clips but not sure if you can do that with stories.

If it is recent, interesting that Desert Ice Castle would put it up rather than Jason. He doesn’t look as crisp / fast as usual, but that may just be the quality of the camera.

The clip was posted on Sunday afternoon -- it's gone now. IG now allows you to post video that you added in your camera roll within the last 24 hours -- so that could include old video clips. But I bet the clip is recent -- so assuming that the clip is recent, the earlest it would have been shot would have been Saturday afternoon.

Also random thing -- I started following Boyang Jin on IG a few weeks ago and I noticed that he follows Desert Ice Castle (though Jason doesn't). It looks like members of Team China have trained there (Zijun Li, Yan Han, Boyang)

Seems Desert Ice Castle likes to highlight when high profile skaters are in town. They've posted about Jason being there a few times. Also, the actual IG story (i.e. the one you access from the IG account) had slightly better video quality--seems when you rip the IG story the quality goes down a little.

More Jason in the desert....

including the old thinking up a storm pic, taken from the back. Jason, I know you like the desert, your parents probably like the desert. But you're not an 8th century monk and I've had enough of the desert:laugh:

Is it so much to ask for information about coaches, please? Just a wee little bit:biggrin:

Did he get a new iPhone? Cause uh, portrait mode's been around for a little while. But those are some nice photos.

I like the hoodie.

I apologize for adding a post to this FF for completely shallow reasons.

ETA:

BFF Karen Chen, as usual, chimes in with all her love:
karebearsk8 MY FAVSSS

ETA 2:

I would like him to show some Mid Century architecture from Palm Springs next. I mean if he's really living there now, I really expect more architecture photos.

Well if he’s finalizing a new coaching situation, it might make sense for his parents to be there. Just sayin. :)

I think el's just sick of the unintentional travelogue that Jason's giving.

I personally love the landscape photos and all the vaguebooking!

That said, please show some Mid-Century architecture.

Well he has a TeamUSA hat on... so id take that as a sign he is continuing in the USA. When he pulled out of worlds I was starting to wonder if country shopping had also started.

Well I think Alexei is retiring...so there opens a spot for Israel. LOL, If Jason switches country, that's a sign of the end times....yes I know we just passed page 666.

Oh I was informed by my Mac fanboy husband that Portrait Mode was introduced with the iPhone 8/iPhone X, which just came out last fall, so Jason isn't that far behind the cutting edge.

I actually don't think Jason skating for another country is so far fetched. I think he would love to be a Misha Ge. Skate and do his own thing, grow the sport with an army of little ones in a developing (skating wise) country. Earn two spots and than three. Really I think he would thrive skating for a smaller country. I am not saying he should... but don't see it as a sinister option.

I don't think it's a sinster option either, but Jason practically bleeds Team USA that I cannot fathom him changing countries for whatever reason. But then again did anyone think he'd actually switch coaches?

Okay guys, what other random theories do we want to throw out there? #Jokes

In all seriousness, Jason is also an outgoing person and loves cheering for teammates -- being the only skater for a country (or one of a few skaters) doesn't seem to fit his style.

For who? There's not a chance this would happen. Quite apart from everything else, citizenship for the next Olys?

This thread is full of people who would never last as Josh fans. A few weeks without news is rookie stuff.

Israel? Is it likely that Jason would go along with their conscription requirements? I don’t think he has any family ties to another country?

Besides, is there any figure skater more Yankee Doodle than Jason Brown? I bet he would bleed red, white, & blue.

Alright, I know we’re bored, but c’mon - skaters country shop when they’re not getting opportunities to compete. Jason didn’t make the Olympic team because he performed poorly at Nats, not because he isn’t competitive or isn’t in favor: let’s not forget, he just declined the opportunity to go to Worlds.

I’m actually curious as to whether he will keep one or both programs next season.

Since both were originally choreographed to include two quads, if his goal this year is to solidify his 3A/quad technique, does it make more sense to keep the programs (because he won’t have to focus on learning new choreography) or would he be better off with entirely new ones?

He appears to have a pretty firm grasp on the Hamilton choreo - and he’s really attached to the program - so even though I’d like to see a new SP, I wouldn’t be surprised if he kept it.

On the other hand, despite (or maybe because of) the fact that the FS layout was changed repeatedly last season, he has never seemed comfortable with it, and obviously, he struggled tremendously at Nats.

Since the FS is so choreographically challenging and was so problematic last season, would it be better for him to set it aside and maybe bring it back in a couple of years, after he’s solidified the jumps? I love the program a lot and would hate to think we’ll never see it fully realized.

What do you guys think?

#BecauseWe’reBored

I had just learned that term “vaguebooking”; I like it. And yes, Jason’s travelogues are great when we know what’s happening, but otherwise .... And personally I prefer the ocean and the seaside, but I think I read somewhere Jason did not like the open sea. So sad ;). But finalizing coaching arrangements, I like that idea:agree: Although personally I was hoping against hope they would be finalized in Toronto.....

I would personally love if Jason competed for some small country where he could be Deniss V. or Misha and never worry about qualifying for his country’s team, but as has been pointed out, what on earth would he do with all his red white and blue outfits?

I vote for the return of Hamilton and maybe a less challenging FS. Rebuild the confidence and solidify the jumps. Probably, if he keeps Hamilton, another slow one? But what would that be?

And who will choreo?:scratch3:

ETA: I just realized I used “personally” three times in this post. Jus in case you weren’t sure it was my personal opinion.
