Jason Brown

So while we wait for actual news regarding Jason's programs, especially the one from David Wilson, it occurred to me that David Wilson's programs for Patrick Chan has not been mentioned here. For some reason, I had totally spaced and not realized that David Wilson pretty much did the majority of Patrick's competitive programs from the 2012-2013 season on (the notable exceptions were the Chopin SP by Jeffery Buttle in 2014 and his Beatles program by Pasquale Camerlengo).

But he did Patrick's Four Seasons FS from the 2014 Olympic season, which was a record-breaking program at one time. And it was actually that program that helped me appreciate Patrick's skating a lot more. The step sequences are lovely.

And el henry, I recalled you liked Patrick Chan's Chopin Revolutionary Etude FS from the 2015-2016 season, that was also by David Wilson. And he did both of Patrick's Olympic programs this season.

Anyway some food for thought.

I did love that Chopin for Patrick; I was never going to be a true Patrick fangirl, but that 4CC (?) performance was sublime, and showed off Patrick's advantages well. And of course I like the Revolutionary etude.

I would love to see someone do the Ocean etude, but just because spousal unit plays it, I have no idea if it would be good for skating  And although I would be way happy with more Broadway, I realize folks will think that Jason has been there and done that.

And since we don't have a program yet, back to minutiaie: who is the best friend coming to Toronto for the Dua Lipa concert? Millie or Sara? And in fit of late night boredom I looked up Dua Lipa and Toronto, and it's July 30. Jason *could* make it to Philadelphia for an SP on August 1, but my guess is no....

I don't mind a break from Broadway. It sounds like the SP is upbeat, so something a bit more subdue and subtle would great for the FS. Something to challenge his performance chops a bit.

It sounds like he's really focused on jumping right into the TCC training environment and I bet the TCC coaching team is going to not take any chances on Jason re-injuring himself, so he's not going to do competitions for the sake of doing them. And unless he's tacked on as a secondary skater, it probably unlikely he isn't doing Sun Valley, which he's done for the last several years.

Go Jason! I like the hair, though he kind of looks like he did as a little kid. :) I wonder if he had it straightened. In the first picture where it's wet, you can see the curl, so maybe it's just smooth due to blow drying. I actually wouldn't mind seeing it even shorter :)

Cutting long beautiful hair is a process. My better half has always identified a bit with Jason's hair, and sure enough when my better half tried to cut it off, he did something like this, in stages, first.

I think we will see shorter looks in the years to come, but it looks really nice as is. Try to see the original, it moves very lovely too. I think too short to soon my have been a mistake... this looks good, still looks like Jason, but a little more manly and grown up.

Like wow. Does JustB salon realize the importance of this moment:shocked:

I agree that does look like Baby Jason hair, and looks too short for even a teeny tiny man bun. When Jason embraces change, Jason embraces change:biggrin:

The final frame is without a doubt blow dry. I don’t know what he’ll do for comps, maybe super duper bobby pins, cause the blow dry won’t last once he starts working up a sweat, back to curls. Trust me, I know:laugh:

The JasonBrownFanPage on twitter have extracted both shots of Jason's haircut from his instastory:

Wet Hair

Dry Hair

I like it! It's still long enough that he can do a half-ponytail if he wants. His hair texture reminds me a lot of mine. I have ringlets like that when it's wet but it turns into nice waves when dry (unless it's really, really humid -- the curls stay then).

Tangentially related to Jason ... Molly Yeh is premiering a new program on Food Network and one of Jason's fans tweeted to her:

OMG a @jasonbskates comparison is *literally* the best compliment i could have ever dreamed of, THANK YOU!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Maybe she'll invite him to be on her show some time.

Ha ha - he’s probably getting used to it himself, although he has been heading in this direction for quite awhile.

Interesting that he talked about a “summer trim” - I hope he’ll keep it going forward and will be interested to see how he styles it for comps. Maybe he’ll just continue to use all his ponytail products to keep it straight? Anyway, it looks like the undershaving is gone, or at least not a focus of this cut.

Go, Jason! Way to get Zhenya's fans ralllied round.

So what's the point of getting a cute hair cut then covering it up with a cap? :scratch3: Own it, Jason, it looks good!

I was just thinking that: you got a great style and cut today, and you cover it with the cap!?:eeking: Spousal Unit and I get our hair cut at the same place, back to back appointments, and we always go out to lunch afterwards cause our hair won’t look that good again for another six weeks. Get with the program, Jason!

And here’s hoping all those Zhenya fans now realize, if they didn’t before, how truly good natured he is;)

Habits die hard. I just got my hair cut and I still find myself pulling it back like I did when it was super long and I keep remembering that it's much shorter and I can let it down.

So to be honest. I was a bit  about the styling/blow drying of the cut (i.e. photo 2) -- it looks a bit too *perfect*, you know what I mean? But I like the length overall. I hope he'll experiment with it and make it work with his style.

The Evgenia thread is full of "he's so sweet/nice" posts. So I think they know. :)

Very interested to see how he styles this. The front looks rather too short to be pulled back - the whole thing is quite a bit shorter TBH.

Maybe his fans should send him bobby pin care packages  Even allowing for growth between now an the season it could be interesting to see how this goes.

Also Jason and Evgenia is just too much sunshine for words!

I love Molly and I hope the Food Network gig doesn't ruin the good thing she has going as some times too much exposure can do that. I confess to making her frozen strawberry cocktails when it was super hot here during the NHL and NBA finals. Since there was a lot to celebrate ;) :hap10:

Seeing as Molly and Jason grew up skating in the same area, I wonder if she knew him at all from that time.

Oh Molly Yeh was a skater?! Huh. It’s probable they knew each other. Seems the Chicagoland crowd was a tight knit one since they all skated at multiple rinks in the area.

I think she'll be fine. A girl I went to high school with (we worked on the school paper together!) won Food Network Star and had her own show for a while and I think it just helped her get other opportunities outside the Food Network. Blogger and Food Network star has a nice ring to it.

And in any case I'm full support of seeing more Hapa women on TV. :)

Yeah, she's mentioned practicing skating while growing up in a few interviews, and there's an article out there from when she was in high school that mentioned her being an award-winning skater, or something like that. Also, I think there might be video of her doing jumps on her IG. Or maybe her blog. I saw it somewhere. :) An accomplished young lady for sure.

I'm glad someone is telling me who Molly Yeh is, because the next time I watch the Food Network will be the first time I watch the Food Network.
