Jason Brown

And you know that how? The post isn’t at all clear.

The timeline of Jason's IG is very confusing.

One week ago, he posted one of his "Rohene's greatest hits" with what appeared to be new Sinnerman choreo. Rightly or wrongly for me, it implied he was still training in Chicagoland.

Then today, on his IG stories, he has a photo of what are presumably his skates and TCC and "feels good to be back on the ice". Along with "✅ next to 14 day quarantine.

So it appears that he has in fact finished his 14 day quarantine, but nothing about his timeline was hinting at that.

Jason that sneaky Pete;)

That very link shows a comment by Jason "14 Day Quarantine in Canada ✔️🇨🇦... Time to get back on the ice! ⛸".
Don’t you think it’s cryptic though? I do. 😂 I guess check mark implies quarantine is done, but if he’s back on the ice, why show his feet dangling over the edge of the rink and not himself ON the ice?

@el henry it’s totally the chronology on his Instagram that threw me! That plus the stupid brief I’m being forced to rewrite and really just want to throw against the wall. 😡

Anyway, good news that he’s back to training and maybe if we’re lucky we’ll get a tiny bit of actual training content from TCC. Very glad to hear that Ontario and Toronto in particular are making progress controlling infections and that vaccine access is improving pretty quickly. They were really suffering for awhile but it looks like they have (hopefully) turned the corner.

It's natural to assume the footage he posts is fresh, but it's not always the case, sometime he posts older stuff. And the checkmark was what made me believe he is done with quarantine. I'm glad he has three or four months before his first ISU competition of the season to train those quads and programs. Next season is what he's been dreaming of, after all. And I'm already excited...

If he’s at the cricket club then he’s done with quarantine - if he was still in quarantine he wouldn’t be able to leave his house.
Also scheduling content to post later is not by any means unusual, I post my aerial content on instagram but I don’t post videos all at once, instead I post regularly throughout the week, but it doesn’t mean I was at training the day I post a video. Also if he was quarantining he was probably bored (I would be!) so editing clips from previous training was probably a good way to pass time!

Politely, I think Jason is somewhat cryptic on purpose. Likely for safety/sanity/privacy reasons.

When he lived in Colorado there were posts that were clearly time delayed. I.e. pics from a concert imply it was what he did that day/last night, but living in the area, sometimes you are aware that the concert was a few days prior.

He does not owe us a detailed itinerary, if he feels more comfortable obfuscating his timeline and whereabouts, he likely has a reason, and i for one respect that.

So yeah... things can be a bit confusing with stuff like this, but we should all remember it is for a reason.

I suspect other skaters do it too, it is just none that i follow that closely trained close enough to me to notice this stuff.

Jason also had a quite obsessed stalker on twitter and Facebook some years ago - and I've noticed she still comments a lot. His increasingly more cryptic/private posts date to that time.

There can be a fine line between cryptic and practical.

I frequently noticed that back when he posted flights to competitions, the posts were a day or two after he arrived. As he got more well known, got an agent etc. I expect that he was advised to be less open about his movements and personal life. So it doesn't surprise me that he waited until quarantine was over to post these. Once he's on CC ice, it's public. I think being a little more discrete is wise and fully understandable.

I also think that with questions about international travel still prevalent, it was wise for Jason to wait until he had gotten into Canada and completed quarantine before posting he was on the ice. I have no problem with that:)

I still maintain that the timing for me was confusing, whether or not it was understandable. And I may not be the brightest lamp in the chandelier, but I'm not the dimmest either:laugh:

Awww, everyone is too sweet,🙃 My light does shine brightly for Jason.💡

If you will forgive me for the OT, I have a question for @ladyjane. In American English we would say "not the brightest bulb/light in the chandelier" or "not the sharpest knife in the drawer" for someone who does not catch on quickly. Is there a similar saying in Dutch?

Or for our other non-American Anglophone friends outside of the US, or other language speakers, is it said differently?

Lots of different ways to say that in the US too

:palmf:
Some say as dumb as a box of rocks

Or not the sharpest tool in the shed

Or a couple beers short of a 6 pack

Or a sandwich short of a picnic

In CT though, I am sad to say, the saying used to be

So dumb he couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the directions were stamped on the heel.

If Jason happens to be reading this, he's laughing his head off right now!
