Jason Brown

If anyone has found and can post a link to an archived version of that Facetime live with Jason, Paul and Kaitlyn, I would appreciate it. The link previously posted doesn't lead to a replay, if there is one.

I suspect it was a private call between Kaitlyn, Jason and Paul, but since Kaitlyn posted it, maybe we will see it.

The next day, and I'm still smiling that Jason felt comfortable, and yes, proud, enough to write this post:hap10:

I got the impression from the poster that they had seen it, so it's really a matter of whether it was a one time event or if it was archived and will replay. Hoping that it does and that I can find a link.

Kaitlyn also had joyfully tweeted a few hours earlier about the confluence of news from her, Paul, and Jason:

OMG is today International coming out day for figure skaters????? 😂😂😂😂😂🌈🌈🌈🌈
LOVE YOU @PaulDPoirier & @jasonbskates !
Who else is ready? We’re here with open arms!
#lovewins

Just my two cents, but I do not think that Kaitlyn's later tweeting of the screenshot was/is a signal that the private (I assume?) video call among the "proud three" (my term :)) was/is going to become public content.

I do think that the tweet of the screenshot with Kaitlyn's accompanying words was another joyful recognition from her that the individual messaging from the three had collectively multiplied the significance and power of the day for the entire skating community. 🏳️‍🌈💪🏳️‍🌈💪🏳️‍🌈💪🏳️‍🌈

(On a personal level for Kaitlyn, Paul, and Jason, it of course also is a beautiful thing that they had the call -- meaningful to all three, I bet.)

Also, I actually love how much of a massive supporter of Jason Adam has always been
Ah, not so. Do not be so quick to forget Adam's reaction to Jason's national title. The eyerolling, the like-spree of Tweets claiming that it was fixed for Jason because he was the USFS favourite...funnily enough, Adam had no issues with dubious judging the next year. Adam may support Jason now, but that does not mean he always has.

They were not always friends. But Adam matured a lot after that and changed. By the time Jason was sent to the GPF at the last minute (can't remember the year) Adam tweeted a congratulations to Jason and an enthusiastic "see you there!" He's been very complimentary and supportive for a long time now. I'm not saying they're best friends, but there's respect and definitely positive feelings. His enthusiasm today was infectious!

Nathan interviewed on WTT program for Japanese TV.

.... "Because of Covid we were training at the same rink (between Worlds and WTT) and I jokingly asked JLB if he wanted to take Raf's place at WTT since he couldn't come and JLB responded, "I absolutely want to!"

I take it JLB is Jason Lawrence Brown?

In this case, JLB = Jean-Luc Baker, who is one of Nathan's best friends.

The fourth slide of the Instagram post shows Nathan with #JeanLucBaker (filling Raf's shoes) at WTT.
After Worlds, Hawayek/Baker did not return to Montreal (to avoid the mandatory 14-day quarantine). They trained at Great Park Ice before heading to WTT.

I realize this is not the most important observation in the world, but Jason's announcement has increased my linguistic knowledge.

1. I had no idea that French was "faire coming out"

Jason Brown, patineur Américain médaillé olympique, vient de faire son coming out

2. or "fare coming out" in Italian:

Jason Brown fa coming out: "Sono quello che sono, sono gay"

3. or "geoutet" in German (in the article, not the headline)

4. Only Spanish, it appears, has not adopted them phrase but stays with Spanish for "coming out of the closet" (again, not in the headline, in the article "salió del clóset")

I now have exhausted the non-English modern languages with which I have any familiarity. I would be happy to know if there are more articles.

Geoutet - love it! 😂

With Father's Day coming up, Fan Zone has a new article today re Jason and Steve.

(Before Mother's Day, Fan Zone had an analogous article re Madi Chock and her mother.)

The article re the Browns is based on an interview conducted with father and son when Jason was at home in Chicago.
(The article makes no reference to Jason coming out. My guess is that the writing and editing process for the article must have been completed before then, and that the publication schedule just went forward without any updating.
I trust that USFS will interview Jason again soon -- perhaps tied to PFT?)

The sweet photo from Jason's childhood is new-to-me.
Maybe also the three from his adulthood? I'm not sure. All are very nice.

Love the article, and the photos.

“You can't own all of your kid's problems just like you can't take credit for everything they do. I didn't make my son an Olympian. He made himself into an Olympian," Steve said. "More than anything, I'm proud of Jason for being a good human more than an amazing athlete because I know I've done something right as a parent."

Awwww💙

What a great statement. And Jason being a kind person is worth it's weight in gold.
