Agree. I wish they'd been on the 1st Team USA charter, so they could have walked the red carpet and gotten the really big send-off. Jason would have loved that! But looks like he and his teammates made a great celebration out of it, anyway. They all look so happy and excited.
The second group is definitely the fun one. :ROFLMAO: The first group is boring in comparison (no shade... just looking at the content we got).

Yes. I bet the big new blue looking one has his RL clothes, shoes, and boots. Coats are probably in the fat duffle. Skates in small grey suitcase. That’s weird they are on a plane with the journalists.
I actually have a feeling that Jason might have been a bit too eager and packed too much (he's like me).

I remember an interview with Nathan about how he brought way too much to PYC because you already get so much beforehand so he had trouble fitting all the things he wanted to bring back home in his luggage... which was the first thing I thought of when I saw that photo of Jason's luggage.🤣 But then again, maybe this is actually pretty normal with all their equipment and gear they get... so who knows?!

The Olympic Gear probably takes up an extra couple of suitcases. The rest is all Jason. In general, skaters don't travel light. They need skates, costumes, clothes for the gala or banquet, workout clothes, all the normal stuff people bring and snacks. They all bring snacks. Some bring musical instruments like guitars. And not infrequently, some of their gear ends up somewhere else.

I did note that Kaitlyn and Jean Luc were still in Montreal and leaving from there. So we can probably assume that the skaters doing the Team Event went on the first plane and the others are flying in later. Given that it was only 6 skaters and maybe 4 coaches, I don't know why that happened. Or why Kaitlyn and Jean Luc didn't leave from LA. Mariah's coach, Adam, posted from a standard economy seat on the same plane as Mariah. He made a comment that he wouldn't be getting champagne in row 33. I think the skaters were in the 1st class cabin. Adam had been posting with Ashley Wagner this week, who is doing commentary. She seems to be going to Beijing, so she might be on that plane also. She was definitely in California. It seemed to be second tier and regional journalists. But I don't really know why they would single out 6 skaters

I’m glad they aren’t all on the same plane. The logistics for getting everyone there must be something. Then I imagine they are tested.

the Japanese Fan Club twitter captured Jason's IG story of his room:

I do like the photo album it looks like they set up for each athlete on the pillow.

And everyone with their own room, I'm sure as safety precautions. Remember Sochi, when Jason was roommates with Alex Shibutani and Nate Bartholomay? A tad more "luxurious". :)

I laughed when I saw all that luggage in his room. That was a quick trip with no lengthy stopovers, apparently. They all look happy and energetic.

Maddie and Evan posted that they flew to Beijing late this afternoon, probably on the same plane with Kait and Jean Luc. I would have assumed that Maddie and Evan would be skating the Team Event, but maybe not? By tomorrow, the whole Team should be in Beijing.

Based on the travel patterns of the skaters, the Team Event skaters were all on the first plane out. So that would be Nathan, Vince, Alysa, Karen, Maddie and Zach and Alexa and Brandon. The rest all traveled later. That is subject to change up to the day before the skates begin, but I think this is likely the roster. I don't know whether the other skaters will be allowed to cheer them on in the arena. But putting two and two together, I would assume that Jason will not be skating Team. I would be delighted to be wrong!

I would believe if it if wasn’t for the fact I am 110% convinced they’re splitting dance. The dance teams get priority due to World Standings and H/D and C/B have been vocal about splitting the dance. I can’t believe they would choose to split the women over the ice dance (I will be furious if they do - H/D and C/B deserve an olympic medal over the women imo).
I don’t think this necessarily means Jason will be in the team event, but I’m not taking the flights as indication.

You'll have to run it through a web based translation, but this new interview with Tracy suggests that Jason is not currently scheduled to do the team competition (but is otherwise healthy and excited): https://tinyurl.com/yfww9psy

Thanks for this! So I ran it through google translate and while I think you’re probably right and he won’t participate, at least as translated it could also just be her not wanting to disclose the team competitors before USFS does:

“He's ready. And he wants to be involved. But you know how strong the US men's team is. So if the team needs him, he's here.”

The other thing is, since she did this interview from Beijing it appears she’s out of quarantine? Hope we get news soon that Jason is too!

So most importantly, does this interview mean Jason is at the practice rink? His IG stories show that he has unpacked a enormous trove of USA gear for his first practice and he looks so happy. :)

I also love that Tracy is rocking the Team USA gear.

Sadly, as much as I would adore seeing Jason skate in the TE, it was always an outside shot. Nathan and Vincent are ahead of him per the criteria. I think Tracy and Jason are saying the responsible and sporting thing: we expect nothing, but we are ready to help if called upon.
