Jason Brown

I think they need to add a version of solo ice dance to the Worlds. It should include limited jumps. Jason might well win that competition! ...

FWIW, ISU already has paid attention to Peggy Fleming Trophy.
IIRC, in the second/third/fourth(?) [not first] year of PFT, its organizers made a modification to the rules after receiving a suggestion/recommendation(?) [I don't remember what wording PFT used] from ISU.
Sorry that I don't recall off the top of my head what the modification was. I just remember thinking that it was interesting that PFT and ISU were in touch.
The general idea seems to be that if ISU were to revamp into "technical program" + "artistic program" (instead of SP +FS),
ISU [as well as PFT] regards PFT as a possible model for the "artistic program."

Also:
From glancing at the agenda for this summer's ISU Congress, I noticed that it includes at least two proposals to adjust the factoring of PCS so that PCS will receive equal weight to TES.
One such proposal is from ISU technical committees for figure skating.
Another is from the New Zealand federation.

I find it hard to believe that Jason would/could just walk away from figure skating. I would love it if he was added to the Cricket team. I think he could contribute so much to other skaters' performance abilities. It's time like this that make me so sad that the touring shows have all but ceased. I know we still have SOI and I know that Jason will be skating with them but....

Jason will contribute to the sport in so many ways whatever the path he chooses but I think his opportunities are amazing. My hope is that he will work toward promoting the fellowship quality and artistry of skating for all age levels in years to come.. I bet all those quadsters will beat a path to his door seeking to improve their artistic levels..
Jason’s artistry has influenced all the elite skaters. Remember, most of them had no skating skills three years ago.

that's not fair, I'm sure the cameraperson at practice is the last thing on Nathan's mind right now.

Also, can I say that in Fan Fests, we gush over "our own" skater, we don't complain about others. We keep this a Jason love zone. :)

So in that vein, a positive article, from, wait for it, Phil Hersh:

Where Jason sounds more like he might retire😢
I dearly hope that he won't retire just yet. I've just bought my World Championships tickets in the hope that Jason might yet get to compete.... And I feel he still has so much creativity to share.

If he's invited to skate World's he'll do it, but it's a long shot. I would love to see him skate World's too. But Nathan would be happy to have one more World's title before he goes back to school. And Vince wants and needs redemption. I hope for all of us that he does get invited to skate. But not counting on it.

An interview with Jason:

With nice short clips from Adam, Nathan and Vincent talking about Jason, as well as siblings Dylan and Jordan. (why did it not occur to me until now what a typical middle child Jason is :) )

That's not your typical fluff piece. It's all true! Jason is exactly what Tracy says he is: Special! His influence shows in all the upper level skaters. They have to improve their artistry to compete with him. It's good to hear the good words. He deserves them and more.

Per Jackie, Jason may be leaving out the quad tonight. Smart decision if true.

Jackie said he left the ice without practicing the quad. He is going for all triples. He's doing this on his terms and I know that he wants a clean, beautiful skate that moves everyone who watches. I'm already in tears. I suspected that this might be the case. I won't be able to watch anyone else after Jason skates and it's ok. I just want him to skate his best and feel good about what he did. He's earned that right. This skate is for him, his family and all of us. He's done his job superbly for the last 4 years and we are the lucky ones to be able to have seen him do it.

Part of me wants clean jason but another part of me wants to just see if he can land that quad.
I'm guessing points wise it's probably comparable -5 GOE on a quad fall plus the 1.0 deduction for a fall is probably equivalent to a 2A with good GOE right? Plus they won't hold his components down if he goes clean... Just a shame he can't switch out for something more points worthy than a 2A but he's maxed out on triples.

Just looked up his 4CC protocols from 2020 where he was clean with a popped quad, he scored 180 there with 0 GOE on the 2T, so if he can go completely clean we're looking at a 180 score, which would be the best he's put out all season and still a highly competitive score.

I would so love a clean skate for Jason, so I am not fussed he took out the quad. Reducing the fall risk means he also takes the "PCS limitation for major mistake" out of play, and maximises his PCS.

And he would really, really have a moment with a clean skate.

He did!!! Top 6! At the Olympics. So happy for him. And Nathan was fabulous. He set a new world record even with some small mistakes. He's got his gold and Jason reached his goals. All is good!! I knew they both could do it. And seeing Yuzu, Jason and Jun together in the green room was priceless. Best of all, Jason was happy and proud of his skate. Top 6 without a single quad. It was a great night! But it's 12:30 AM here and I am going to bed. I have to let the adrenaline wind down. Good night Jason fans! It's been a wild 4 years and I've enjoyed every minute of it.

What a moment. What an absolute stunning moment. He knew what he was doing, he took out the blasted quad and he blessed us with that moment.

I can't process. :drama:
So happy for this performance! What a fabulous Olympic skate for all of them. Congratulations to Nathan for the gold medal. I’m glad Yuzuru came back. Such wonderful performances for all these hard working athletes.
