Jason Brown | Page 928 | Golden Skate

Jason Brown

Sixth at the Olympics - and without a quad. I'm so proud of Jason. This is exactly what I had hoped for - a clean skate and a top 10 finish. And there wasn't that much room between him and Cha. The best part was he looked like he was enjoying himself! Doesn't get much better.

Sixth, and two points from finishing fourth. That salchow would have done it.

He was so beautiful, so magical, so perfect. Everything about him wove a spell. That was our Jason as we know him and love him, at the height of his powers. Oh, I was crying before he finished.

Was his goal top 6? Well, he did it! His scores never cease to amaze me. 281 and he wasn't even perfect (but close). For me, the highlight was after the short program. He seemed happy with his FS score, but the reaction in the Kiss&Cry after the short was everything, a "proper" Olympic moment. :)
His indecisiveness about retiring gives me hope, it means somewhere he feels he has more to give still, which is amazing after such a long career. We'll see! :)

Seems like Jason is still undecided after his Olympic event has ended. :D
This seems to have quotes from after today's FS:

“I don’t have an answer to what is next, so that’s a little bit of a first for me,” Brown said. “I had three goals when I moved to Toronto, and I was fortunate enough to have checked them all off. So I think for me, you know, it’s about kind of figuring out if I want to set more (goals) and if I want to continue to push myself physically, mentally, emotionally.”

Hmm...

Thank you to Jason for truly elevating this men's Olympic event. He gave us two artistic programs that soared and generated such positive emotions for all his faithful fans and his new fans too .
Thank you to all the regular posters on this Jason fan fest . You have all gottten me through some of the rougher patches of his career by providing a safe space to love all that is grest about Jason and of course are here for this incredible triumph.
I am still in awe of what he accomplished here and will wait like the rest to see what he decides to do fron here.

I can’t believe that it hasn’t popped the sal in combo he probably would have been fourth 🤡

but he was absolutely glorious. the 3A’s have never looked better! i can not fathom that he might retire - he’s in the best competitive form of his life! i’d love to see him keep skating just to give us more performances - he would still be Top 3 in the US with Ilia and Vincent and guaranteed GPs for a few more seasons. There just still feels like untapped potential for Jason - I know we could see some of this in shows buts it’s just not the same. I reaalllly hope he gets the Worlds call up - if he does I’m doing everything in my power to get out there to see him!

I, too, am so happy for Jason. He was - as expected - mesmerizing. What a role model he is! I hate to think of him retiring. There is just no one I enjoy watching as much. (Can we get Rohene to choreograph for Shoma?) I hope he stays around if it makes him happy to do so. And I hope his influence grows the sport. I see his influence in Junhwan, I think.

With a triple sal he would have been FOURTH!

At risk of looking ahead too quickly, if Nathan chooses not to go to, I hereby wish to manifest a perfect Jason checking off that last box with a World medal. 🙂

Jason' FS - with extra footage of an explanation of why his second 3A got at least one 5

Guys remember when his 3A was a
0-1 GOE at best?

He was 6th in both segments and overall.

have you guys seen this video? a reporter spoke to other skaters about jason (incl adam rippon, vincent and nathan) where they waxed poetic, before speaking to his family about him 😭

i started sobbing out right he is such a wonderful person
Thanks for that link! Love the family comments. Such a sweet and generous person and a class athlete!

The Washington Post with the accolades that Jason deserves, and some quotes I haven't seen before:

Brown was never projected to bring home a medal, so that sixth-place finish, without the quad but with its own brilliance, accomplished what he wanted.
“For me, it’s as good as gold,” Brown said. “I’m really proud of that. If someone told me walking into the Games that I could be top six, I mean, I’d be like, ‘That’s amazing. Deal.’ ”

As would we all. :love2:

this put a damper on my joy. TCC posted a flyer on the IG page - listing the skaters invited to the gala. Jason and Jun were NOT invited! 🤬🥵 But Keegan, Morisi, Boyang and Vincent (with covid???!!!!) were.

Who selects the skaters for the gala? Why were skaters who finished lower included? I get Boyang since he's the home country skater .. but the rest? And Vincent didn't even skate in the singles event and he has COVID!!

Between being left off the team event, skipped for the gala .... I feel like Jason is again being undervalued. I spent time on socia;l media after the skates, and saw endless #s of posts saying people preferred Jason's programs to anyone elses - including those on the podium. He's a real crowd pleaser.

I hope he's not too disappointed. But I sure am.

I would like to just point out that this is the TCC Fan Club page, not TCC itself. As far as I know, they do not have an active page. :)

Of course we are disappointed that Jason is not chosen, but let's not take it out on other skaters. Vincent may be recovered by now. And I am 200% certain if you asked Vincent, would you rather have been able to skate in the competition, or do you want to skate the gala, how he would have answered. And it wouldn't be the gala.

Jason has his gold medal. 🥇 It was all we could have dreamed about before the comp. :)

I'm disappointed for Jason, too. I kind of don't mind Vincent being invited. He's there - he must now have the negative tests that allow him to skate. The timing was just awful for him. If another discipline had been first then he would probably have been able to compete.

I also saw something that this was an initial list and other skaters may be invited. Maybe that is just other disciplines? I would assume some of the choices were to distribute among the countries, maybe? Not with skating, but I've been in similar situations where I've had to make hard choices. You are never going to make everyone happy.

I'm gonna focus on Jason's success and wish the skaters in the gala a safe and positive performance.

Another interview: but this time Jason is in the same room as a Chicago sports anchor in Beijing, after his free.

So much Jason content:biggrin:

I just started crying when he talked about how he shattered and built himself back up.
He’s such a special person, there aren’t words to describe how soulful and genuine he is.

Oh god I just got to the bit about the future - how after the competition ended he turned to Tracy and just started crying 😭 Asking “is this it? is this our last competition?”

Maybe it’s selfish of me but god I hope he continues. I think he took the right approach in not naming the olympics as his final competition, because of the pressure, but I just can’t fathom not seeing him & Tracy together in the k&c again.

He’s looking forward to Stars on Ice, no mention of Worlds as an alternate. I am going to keep praying that he gets called up and decides to go. At this point I’ll take out a loan in order to fly to france to see him!
