Jason Brown

Well, officially no Jason in the GP😭😭😭

(yes, it was obvious he wasn't prepping for a season, but reality bites)

In the absence of an announcement, still hoping against hope he plans for Nats.
I still have hopes to see him at nationals and possibly the second half of the season. The state of the US men’s field right now, if Jason could skate a clean quad-less SP and FS with his usual quality I think USFS would easily give him a 4CC and Worlds spot. I don’t think I’d rely on the other US men to keep those worlds spots in particular. The other US men (Camden, Tomoki, Jimmy) have had several chances to step up to the mark and failed to do so. I think if Jason wanted to return to competition USFS would prob bend over backwards for him.

I hope he’s enjoying his time off doing shows and dipping his toes into coaching and choreography, but I am praying he’s not done done. He would have lots of time this winter to settle back at TCC and train if he so wished.

For now, I’m hoping he’ll have the outrageous energy of Benoit and accompany the students he’s choreographed for to competition - aka Jason come with Daniel to Sheffield please!!!

Aka. Jason come with Daniel to Skate America. Please

Speaking of which, I saw on Twitter that Daniel‘s program on “The Ice” was “I Feel Love” by Sam Smith (can’t find link). Presumably that is Jason’s choreo?

IDK if you all know, but Jason has been added to the Labor Day Sun Valley on Ice show. He will be special guest along with Alysa Liu on Friday Sept 2. ;) Tickets here.

Thank you for the head's up @Ic3Rabbit.

I know that you and mostly everyone in the FF knows this, but Jason at Sun Valley on Labor Day is such a tradition. :) I didn't think he would be able to do that and Friends on Ice, but the man is racking up those airplane miles.

A show with both Jason and Alysa, and of course the cast. That will be a good one.

Ilia looks like a lost baby. Nervous Nathan.

Can we confine our remarks in this Fan Fest to how wonderful Jason is?

Fan Fest guidelines state that "Keep discussions in the respective threads and do not bring up other skaters with the intent to bash, debate, critique, and/or compare".

Thanks!

ETA: AFAIK, there is no thread in "the Edge" where contrast and compare is permitted. Should we start one?

Jason could organize a great show. Some of them looked uncomfortable and not into it. I expected Shoma to be a little more showy. Maybe they don’t know everything yet. I know Jason is having a great time!

I'm still dreaming of Jason at Nationals this year standing on top of the podium. I don't think it is out of the question at all if he goes!

I agree, nothing is a foregone conclusion, and Jason ending his senior career that way would be wonderful.

But even if he just comes back for Nats, particularly if he announces it is his last competition 😢, the love from the crowd would be overwhelming. What he deserves:hap10:

New post, on a different subject: Jason's choreo for Daniel Grassl is :dance3:(1:03:24)

First, I had no idea "I feel love" was a cover of the Donna Summer tune. I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't this: the angularity and the club vibes, and fits Daniel to a tee. Of course, Jason takes advantage of Daniel's amazing flexibility.

Our boy really can do choreo for other skaters

Another snippet about Jason competing, but this is the first one I've seen since it was confirmed he was not doing the GP: there is hope for the future::pray:

Brown, a 27-year-old who was sixth at the Olympics, is on “a mini break from the competitive grind of training” and will reevaluate next steps in the fall, a representative said.

He has a representative? (Of course I know about his agents, it just sounds so different to me, we're so used to Jason's effusiveness in dodging questions. ;)

"None of the U.S. singles skaters from the Beijing Olympics are on the entry lists — Chen, Zhou, Jason Brown, Alysa Liu, Mariah Bell and Karen Chen — though skaters can still be added to fields" - there's still an available men's place at Skate America.....

According to the Japanese Fan Club, Twitter translate, Jason skated to The Impossible Dream  and wore this practice outfit (not from the show)

Please skating gods let there be a video that stays up for more than 12 hours:pray:

auto-translate:

The Ice Niigata Day 3 Jason skated The Impossible Dream! It fascinated the world so beautiful that I couldn't find the words.
The costume was this one I wore during this year's US EX practice
