Jason Brown

Just a separate post to say, with entries in comps always being uncertain, I'm glad to see that Jason is pretty much confirming Warsaw Cup:

Next stop, RMCH in Poland.

:)
I'm so glad that he is continuing his relationship with the RMCH organization. They are such a wonderful help for families with seriously ill children. Many years ago I knew someone with a child who needed a lot of skin graft surgeries and bone reconstruction after being badly burned. She was facing leaving him in Boston at the hospital, because they couldn't afford to pay for lodging for weeks and months. I urged her to contact RMCH. She thought they were just for kids with cancer. I told her that they help kids needing medical treatment. They were taken in and she was able to be with him through all his surgeries. It was a real blessing.

Popping in here today to share Jason's programs at 2023 Worlds, with no commentary, full replays, and full K&C. Savor it!:love::love:

2023 Worlds Short Program
2023 Worlds Free Skate

No words are needed, of course, but Terry, Tara, and Johnny couldn't say enough good things. Yes, I wrote them down, which I very rarely want to do. Trust me, it's worth it. ;)

After his SP (during which they were completely silent, IIRC), the three had this exchange:

Terry: "Guys, there's just not one moment where you feel like you can look away. His skating demands that you watch every single second."

Tara: "So true, Terry. I couldn't say a word over that performance. You get lost in the magic that he creates out there. This is exactly what figure skating dreams are made of. There was a moment where I felt like his blades were actually playing the piano. The way that he executes his choreography is absolutely masterful. The mood he creates is like no other. That was spectacular."

Johnny: "This program is truly one of the masterpieces of our sport. And, the GOE he got in this program is worth more points than a 3A."

Tara: "He's out there because he loves it which has elevated his skating even more if that's even possible."

Terry's intro before his LP music started was, "The most artistically gifted skater of his generation. Every time he's out there he paints the pictures and it's a work of art."

Right after his LP ended, Terry said, "Style. Grace. Elegance. Quintessential Jason Brown. He just makes you feel, when he's on the ice."

Just before the LP commercial break, Terry said, "Standing ovation's gonna go on for some time."

At some point after the LP, Johnny said, "His skating, absolutely timeless. It will be remembered forever and ever."

Interesting. Anything that shuts up Tara is awesome!! I love that Terry has gained so much knowledge of figure skating over the years. And what's also interesting is how they don't harp on the fact that Jason didn't have a quad. We had to listen to the drivel for years. I'm glad Jason is finally getting flowers from them. Thanks for posting their conversation.

I shared this with El but thought I would mention it here. One of my son's oldest and dearest friends is a coach at the rink in Santa Rosa. At first I thought she was in the picture but she must have a doppelganger who also wears those yucky beige skates. Alas, she was out of town last weekend but said when she went in to the rink on Monday morning everyone was talking about how sweet Jason is to everybody and just a overall nice guy that he makes time for everyone. (this is not news to us, right?) It's a beautiful rink and was built by Charles Schultz (of Snoopy fame) for his daughter when she was a teenager and figure skating. Every year before he passed away they had a huuuuge Christmas show that was quite the extravaganza. We've been to many of them through the years but the one I remember the most was when my son's friend picked my then 5 yr old granddaughter out of the audience and let her ride on Snoopy's sleigh. Quite the thrill.

Thank you @skatingfan4ever for sharing your videos
You are so welcome! Worlds was the end of March, and it's November, so thank you for not commenting about me being "behind the times." I've had them saved for a few months now, but I finally have had adequate time to post them on GS. You know how real life can get in the way, as it should. I certainly go in spurts with posting stuff on GS.

I don't know if this is the right place because there's only two programs of his in (plus certainly collective appearances, behind-the-scenes etc), but next February DVDs and Blu-Ray of Notte Stellata, a show in Sendai in March 10th-11th-12th to commemorate the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011, will be released:

Are there still regional incompatibilities for DVDs? I'm in Western Europe, so it will be all right for me from Japan, but for US people I don't know.

I believe that it's thanks to Notte Stellata's large rink and propitious atmosphere that his Melancholy was such a wonder that I started falling in love with this program, which I never found quite as inspired elsewhere. There's also Impossible Dream.

I think the Men's short begins at around 8 AM EST tomorrow morning, but Jason is probably in the last group? Not sure. I'll be on my computer trying to get the stream.

The men's short starts at 8:30 EST on Thursday, so we have a full day to figure It out. :)

Jason is in the first flight of skaters.

So grateful he is still competing, but it still seems odd. ;) I guess it beats dead last:D

Hi everyone! I just checked the time schedule and it looks like a slight change - if this is correct, the 6 minute warmup for group 1 starts at 2:10 pm local time and the first skater starts at 2:17 pm. Jason is at 2:42 pm., which is 8:42 am EST.

In case anyone else is as clueless as I was the YouTube livestream is linked at the top of the detailed results and protocols page:
